This much effort should tell any reasonable person that Trump scares the crap out of all the people using government for easy money and selling out the country for personal gain.

Is it not incredibly revealing that the state has never before sued under §63(12) on a theory of overvalued assets (which is hardly unusual behavior) where no counterparty claims to have been defrauded, and the first ever such case just happens to be this one, brought by an elected Democratic AG whose oft-stated antipathy toward Trump was a key feature of her election campaign?

Leave Trump out of this for one moment what they are doing is bad for America. If the court system gets away with this case who else are they going to destroy? This is not America and nobody should or has this amount of money on hand.

In a sea of bad this is “ good” but it is still an astronomically large fine for a non crime. Had this been the original amount of the fine would that have been acceptable? NO. The crazies have us now being “ grateful” and feeling lucky that some “ sanity” has prevailed in this farce of a political hatchet job. We must not lose sight of the horrific display of the lengths the Dem machine is willing to go to... to tear down democracy and fairness in their crooked and misguided attempt to “ save our democracy”. Appalling

Alex: You should ask yourself why they hate Trump so much. Is it because he will appoint more constitutionalists than the far left extremist like? Is it because because he threatens their rule?

All the Appeals Court did was reduce an absurd bond amount amount to a ridiculous amount. True criminal fraudster's notably Sam Bankman Fried and Bernie Madoff had bonds 1/10 the size of Trump's modified bond. Unless the Appeals court at a minimum reduces the fine to something reasonable (say, $1.00), as no one was harmed, or overturns Engoron's decision, this is all sound and fury, signifying nothing. No grown ups.

Insane is an understatement. Every time I see a headline for this case I think it’s the Banylon Bee. That no one else has been prosecuted in this ancient law shows it’s targeted. Not to mention Leticia James making “getting Orange Man”’her campaign theme.

I am sure there are normal people in that state but they must not vote as they keep electing complete lunatics.

You should also look into how Letitia James accumulated $millions in wealth in just a few years after she announced she would "get" Trump no matter what.

Proof of fraud always requires proof of reliance by the victim and a resulting loss. There is a reason for this--it protects people from fraudulent claims of fraud!

Only under NY State's "Executive Law"--in a section relating to the NY Attorney General's powers--by reading the broadest interpretation possible--do you find a one-of-a-kind redefinition of "fraud" as misrepresentations (plural) in business--without any proof of reliance by a victim, and without any proof of loss.

Does anyone really believe that the NY State Assembly (in 1956) intended, in a bill relating to powers and authorities of the Attorney General, to redefine the elements of (civil) fraud?

This is what you get when unethical people, devoted to pursue an ideology "by any means necessary," are willing to use any and every tool, including (and especially) the law, for purely political purposes. Book-smart but unethical people scour the laws and regulations to find "wherewith" to accuse.

(Same song, different verse: Prosecuting Jan. 6th protesters of under a provision of the Sarbanes-Oxley Act.)

The Deep State mastermind Lisa Monaco is apparently in control of 5 of the court cases against Trump - both Jack Smith cases, the Fani Willis case, the Bragg case and the James case. She is the number 2 person at DOJ and in control of both the DOJ and FBI. Those who have dealt with her describe her as smart, vicious and unscrupulous. No wonder Trump called her out by name first when asked who the Biden controllers are. Before landing at DOJ, she was always close to Obama and can be seen in many photos beside Obama. She was also Brennan's protege at CIA. A very dangerous person. But unlike Victoria Nuland, she keeps a very low profile

The Soviets and the CCP pioneered this tactic of criminalizing the opposition. Banana republics adopted it and now the Dems have joined the party to destroy the rule of law. The Dems doing this a completely corrupt and morally bankrupt.

A filing fee is sufficient. The fact that Trump or anyone else has to pay for access to an appeal is fundamentally wrong and makes a farce of our justice system.

This whole debacle demonstrates that modern day democrats view economics through the same worn out, discredited, class warfare lens that communists through history and presently the world over see it.

It is the result of envy. Envy and a lack of knowledge about how Trump is able to create such wealth.

The various socialists throughout the world want wealth without such effort.

Trump worked his @$$ off to get where he is.

I believe the Court also struck down Judge Engoron's ruling that Trump or the executives, his kids, can't do business in New York. So that's an additional win for Trump.

This judge and the AG should be removed, sanctioned, and disbarred

Spot on Alex. The whole episode smacks of Stalin's show trials. The sexual harassment case against him is equally devoid of even handed justice.
