HA! Probably depends on "what" science a person follows and who paid for it of course :)

Expand full comment

Actually, this is an interesting conceptual statement. Is our leftist "secular" religion of making up things then calling them "Science" a new religion? It has all the hallmarks of one. Then the next question is can we use the First Amendment prohibiting the establishment or recognition of a State Religion as a bullwark against all of the Climatologist, New Scientotholics, Genderisms, Seventh Day Race-ologists, etc? Can we somehow get away from fighting their absurdities by showing them as such and simply "tolerate" them as a religion to which they are welcome to practice but which cannot be supported by government nor forced on anyone else?

This guy is 100% correct. The economy is doing just fine. It's headed in the right direction.

Just the other day I put 23 gallons in my tank and it only cost me $158. That's much better than the $75 it used to cost me. And my Trader Joes bag just got a whole lot larger for some reason, it must be stretching out. I used to fit about $45 of food in it but now it's so much bigger, I can put $160 in it. It's worse than that, Transportation Dept Head Pete has a huge new initiative: Zero Traffic Deaths. I mean this is the level of thinking of these people, and Obama's third term is absolutely chock full of them. Safetyism run wild. Yes Mrs. Pete is very nurturing, he and the other women in this administration will nurture and coddle and protect you and the nation and the world to death. Maybe with a 5MPH speed limit, passengers wrapped in bubble wrap, and lots of IBM "Smart City" tech to disable your car remotely if you exceed the speed limit or your carbon for the day or violated H.R. 1,000,000,000 Anti-Meat Act and did not eat enough of ze bugs. Expand full comment

Expand full comment

It’s actually a great idea for all involved.

Expand full comment

Mariam, I meant No disrespect, but I am oldschool and have experience being married and raising a family.

This is not to say “my way is the only way” or something stupid like that.

I am of the belief that newborns bond with their mothers, never with their fathers. These are nature’s laws, not mine.

A father’s responsibility at this stage is not to attempt some sort of unnatural bonding with his infant; but rather to support the needs of the mother, while supplying shelter, safety, food, and most importantly ensuring stability in the home for the future growth of the mother, child, and additional family members.

Maternity leave is natural after birth and has been a staple of existence for all mammals for millennia.

“Paternity” leave is a recent, made up, un-natural construct that serves no purpose I can think of other than to make some men feel better about their role in what is a very difficult time for women, even very strong ones

A few days off work to help is totally understandable. Anything more than that puts the stability, safety, and growth of the natural family order in danger and is unacceptable, IMO.

Expand full comment

I respect your views, and I disagree. I’m a 63-year-old woman who raised four children as a stay-at-home-mother. My former husband took some time off for a week after the birth of my first child, which was a traumatic medicalized and mismanaged birth, but he did not help me.

I am very strong but sometimes wonder how I managed to keep it together when he never helped at night, even if I was feeling unwell.

I relish seeing father’s involved in the care of their children. In my daughters’ generation, the men are very involved and it makes for a more relaxed and rested mother a happier baby and strong bonding with both parents, not to mention a stronger relationship for the parents.

One of my clients recently had a difficult labor and delivery, the baby nurses every two to three hours, which becomes all consuming for the mother. I know this firsthand because I nursed four daughters for a total of 8 1/2 years. This client’s husband cooks dinner every night and takes the baby from 6 PM until midnight so that my client can get some sleep. I love that he does this for her and his daughter. He sees how tired she is and wants to participate in her recuperation and loves spending time with his infant daughter. She doesn’t demand this of him.

I understand that you are old school and that this probably wasn’t the case when your wife gave birth to your children. That doesn’t necessarily make your way better.

My former husband’s father was not involved in their lives when they were growing up. It is something that he still carries with him to this day and he’s a 70 year old man. He was also raised in a household where children were to be seen and not heard. His father, a PhD and university Chancellor, hardly acknowledged the children. This creates dysfunction and a sense of lack in children, whether you believe that or not.

Hopefully, we all continue to evolve and stay open to learning new ways of doing things.

Expand full comment

Im almost 60. I’m in agreement with you. Paternity leave has nothing to do with bonding. It can mean many things for diff. Reasons. I only have one child and so glad my Mom was around to help, but would have been great if my ex could’ve shared those first few weeks in a more involved way.

Expand full comment

I would only add that I did not say that fathers should not be “involved” in the care or support of mother and child. I just don’t think that a traditional father/provider taking close to a month or more off work is warranted, and by definition, puts the stability of the home in danger.

If someone is rich and can afford it (days off work to hover around mother and newborn waiting on them) and it makes them feel good then sure.

But the majority of people can not afford this and that is why there has always been the division of responsibilities between men and women. To deny this fundamental fact of life brings chaos into the home.

By all means men should help the mother any way they can, but essentially quitting your job at the very moment it is needed by the family most is not “a good thing”

What was he ever the star of? He sucked at being Mayor of South Bend IN.

That was a few weeks before the maid of honor from our wedding got killed by the vaccine too. I remember those days fondly!

Oh. That's awful. I'm sorry. I had a friend died 4 days after 1 jab.

I know 2 people that died now from the kill shots. 1 from heart attack and 1 from re-emergence of aggressive cancer. My FIL went from very active 80 year old, to damn near dead with blood clots in his lungs. Still not fully recovered after 9 months. Know how many people I know that died from COVID ? ZERO ! Thank goodness for this forum. On other social media platforms that I rarely look at - people can't wait to get their 2nd booster and are hoping for approval to jab their kids under 5. The Branch COVIDIANs are still out there and they are terrifying.

I know. I would have lost it. My friend who died from the jab, his wife (lovely woman) committed suicide after.

sorry to hear that. the end of that article has a way to look up deaths and AEs by lot #. Lot EN6201 grows every single week in body count. One lot! Yet they can chase down listeria outbreaks for a single guy with bad gas to a McDonald's in Topeka. This hot lot issue is the thing that ought to be bringing down the whole program. Last I checked it was over 180 deaths from EN 6201

Why does it feel like we don’t have the best and brightest leading this country? Now it’s all about how many “diversity” boxes you check. I hope the next president is a Muslim, transgender, handicapped, non-binary,alien that identifies as a cat! Imagine how much of a strength this diversity would be!

Did anyone but his own press department ever actually think Bootygig was cool?

He was never cool. His attempts to be cool made me cringe, and I'm too old to be cool myself.

Alex, you skipped the 2020 election fraud. I know you’ve not been willing to go there yet. But, come on, man! Let’s get all the cards on the table.

Fuck these selfish shameless soulless sociopathic shitbags masquerading as humans! My God, how many more people need to die and live in abject misery before you realize that these leftist scum need to be driven from American soil!?

Or, as their demented despicable leader said this afternoon, about punching people in the face he doesn’t agree with, let them come at us and then we’ll bury them in the soil!…

Alas, now the headlines and airwaves report that Buttigieg, too, is struggling to find formula for his babies. (Well, actually, he's not, they eventually clarify. He has enough formula, shelves and shelves of it. But he's just like you, because he has infants who require formula to live and because can and-- and often does!-- imagine what it must be like not to have enough because that's how compassionate he is, and how aware of his privilege, which he sort of has but he is also a member of a victim class so don't start getting too worked up about his privilege because people on the Internet are mean to him!)

Pre-Covid, the "narrative" was that inflation - said to be around 2 percent - was "too low." The Fed was trying to produce MORE inflation. Then they got more and said it was "transitory" and "contained." Today, the narrative is that this is good for electric car sales ... but then Bill Gates shorts the stock of Tesla, so I'm very confused. I'm going to come out and say it. I don't think the narratives are true. Can I be banned from Alex's substack?
