Please do. The NYT will have a fit

If nothing else, to put it in the NYT face. How cool is it that this new administration is opening things up to new media, podcasters, and independent journalists. WE ARE THE MEDIA now. I keep my AB subscription because he was there for me during 2020 when I felt like the only one questioning all the bullshit. He helped keep me sane.

absolutely! I want to see the looks on the faces of the lame stream media faces when they see you there!

That was my first reaction. But I know that it’s easy to get drawn in. If you are always an outsider despite who’s in power, it’s easier to maintain your integrity, and to defend it

You can use it as needed - Alex is the last person to get “drawn in” and sacrifice his integrity.

You can always get the pass, use it for a few months and then relinquish it. At least then you can say you gave it a try and maybe, just maybe, you will do it longer term?

What responsibilities are incumbent upon press credential holders? If there aren't any formal ones, why not apply for it and then you can use it on your own terms?

If it's the type of thing where there are expectations that you show up to certain events, etc., yes, I agree with you to stay away from it.

That’s a wise consideration. Been there, done it. Not a fan.

I agree with you, Ryan.

I honestly think you're better on your own beat. The top of my list would be Matt Taibbi for a press pass because he's originally one of the cultural left that did a quick turn to accountability when he got censored. He also doesn't have the lawsuit and other things more worth his time like you do.

Yes to Matt! Heck, I'd love to have Matt and Alex

Not Matt Taibbi.

Matt's skills are better deployed skulking around the edges, sniffing out bullshit.

Alex has a better disposition to sit in a room with a bunch of runners up for America's Junior Miss and rejects from GQ.

Like Matt Taibbi but not sure he can command in a room full of seasoned underhanded and stupid liberals. Plus I will always be a little suspicious of anyone who could be a fully indoctrinated demorat and just turn conservative just like that. He's excellent but we need someone on the ground running

Restoring any form of balance (even partial) to the White House press corps will only work if people like yourself apply. So yes, go for it.

Yes

IF it doesn’t restrict your primary mission

Would you have to be there every day or just when YOU want?

Yes

I would imagine having a pass doesn't require you to use it every day. So assuming you didn't have to be there all the time and pay your own travel expenses (that was also on the slide in the briefing) why not apply? You don't ask, you don't get. And you might even land a seat on Air Force One and that alone would be worth it.

Go for it. Take a seat that some propagandist would otherwise sit in.

Yes absolutely Alex

The cliquyness will disappear when the independents get in.

I see no downside here. You can show up when you want, and when you are elsewhere you can hand off your pass to Andy Ngo, Bridget Phetasy, or Ben Kawaller.

Expand full comment

Absolutely! I want to see truth and real journalism like you provide.
