Dear Mr. Berenson,

Before we remove your books permanently from our inventory, we want to make as much money as possible. Surely, you understand this nuanced position.

Sincerely,

Jeff Bezos

Nicely said, Diane!

Just purchased it for $14.23. I don't even care. It's worth it just to push back on this communist evil attempt at censorship by Senator Warren. Even if it sat on my desk and collected dust (which it won't), it would be worth the $14.23 and a 5 star review.

The reason why everything is so expensive is due to High inflation because of Joe Barely Alive Biden. He has implemented universal Poverty throughout America. Next step from this we will all be living on a street corner like the living dead in ever city right now today.

We will all be equal in our immiseration, and like it! Except for those shelling out $35,000 to attend the Met Gala.

How does a Socialist Like A.O.C afford $35.000 and who would give her a free ticket or Pass if they didn't Hate America. Is the CCP or Russia Funding this Socialist here in America 🇺🇸

The irony of AOC attending in a dress that says (on the back) Tax the Rich is frankly mind blowing.

Good question. My guess is the other "elites" see her as someone with cachet and are looking to hitch their train to someone who will protect them with a potential downfall. These people are all ghouls.

Dont think it is CCP or Russia funding her--pharma would be more than happy to

Maybe she got the Syphilis shot instead. 🤔

You think she would pay 35K? Come on.

If you can avoid Amazon, please do. Barnes & Noble is neutral on the "wokeness" scale at 2ndVote: https://www.2ndvote.com/company-scores/

Good to know, Martha. I've been hoping to come across a link such as that to research OTHER businesses too! So, a double-stuffing-thanks for you on this comment!

I worry that if I buy the Kindle version, they will be able to claw it back someday when they determine it is subversive.

Me too. Here is what I did: Installed Kindle for PC. Downloaded all my books to PC. Copied the entire Kindle books folder to a USB drive. Let Amazon try to delete that! (If needed there is software to convert Kindle books to other e-book formats and remove DRM copy protection too).

Thanks, Micaela.

I hadn't thought of that. I'm already copying them to my removable hard drive monthly. I'm not sure that would stop "them" from planting a bot-bug in my system to automatically delete a book should it ever raise it's head again though. I'm too old and not sufficiently plugged in to monitor that.

I need to look into conversion and DRM removal.

The "Firemen" in Ray Bradbury's Fahrenheit 451" had the legal right to enter and search any house, vehicle or business for contraband books. Hint: those Firemen didn't exactly have the same purpose as Firemen in our day and time. Censorship appears to be headed in that direction.

Sorry: *Michaela* not Micaela. Durned finger/brain coordination!

Phil - me too. I've had a kindle book edited (updated, presumably to fix errors of some sort) without my knowledge so I suspect they could delete them as easily.

I prefer reading my kindle because I can control the fonts and the illumination level (and because I have a significant library stored on it) but, on important books, I've started buying both kindle and physical just-in-case.

Ditto, I love the convenience but Amazon has already removed the digital copies of books from owner's devices (https://www.nytimes.com/2009/07/18/technology/companies/18amazon.html).

🙀 I did not know Amazon could remove books! I am not tech savvy; if I only have books on an iPad and a Kindle, how do I copy them? Can Barnes & Noble do the same with nook?

Expand full comment

Harumph! (and worse thoughts!)

How can they get by with removing content that the user bought and paid for and, worse, from a device they bought and paid for as well? Neither my Kindle nor my books are "rented" from Amazon or anywhere else.

Nevermind. They do because they can. It's truly Orwellian and Bradbury-istic ... and MUST STOP!

Amazon is tough to quit though and Walmart is just as bad.

Barnes and Noble, barnesandnoble.com. I bought all last night--for the right prices. Putting it mildly, I'm not a fan of Amazon.

I’m happy to pay $12.57 ten times, as I have. You are one of the very few contrarians who are fighting the COVID CON and I’m hoping the financial rewards grow as your message hits home for more and more people. Fight for our liberty now, or it’s over for our children and grandchildren. Fight for objective criticism of the many COVID CON actors now, or surely they will implement more and more nonsense and destroy our way of life.

Thanks Alex.

Peace.

I would also hope Amazon gives the finger to Warren. She has always been on their case and is no friend to Amazon, I can't imagine Bezos doing anything she demands.

If you keep the lion's share of the proceeds, no problem. If they keep all the extra profits, Bullshit!

I got the first booklet on kindle when it was first released. The recent Elizabeth Warren nonsense you posted about last night reminded me that I had always intended to purchase the others. I've now done that. Also considering ordering the print versions. The whole censorship issue has made me so angry. I used to follow you on Twitter and have now subscribed to your substack. Looking forward to your full-length book on the pandemic. Best of luck with any legal action you may take against Twitter!

I wouldn’t care as long as your proceeds are proportional to sales price. If Amazon is just profiting at your expense I will wait until it gets figured out. I never begrudge profits but this smells fishy.

I silently wondered if the price shift was because they knew this talk of banning the book would spur people to buy the book and wanted to profit from it first. I know a lot of people stopped buying books from them and like me, only buy when something is only available at Amazon. I’ve been buying all my books at Thriftbooks, Booksamillion, and the library. Some of these banned books can be found at Goodwill.

I pre-ordered Pandemia from my Barnes & Noble store. They say it won't be in until late November. Looking forward to it. RFK's Fauci book coming out early November. Ordered his too.
