Win or lose (and we still don’t know, though Murphy is now ahead), Phil Murphy, the incumbent governor of New Jersey, ran even further behind Joe Biden than Terry McAuliffe did in Virginia. And Murphy was running against a guy who was pleasant enough but basically a nobody in a race no one even noticed. And there was no sex assault in a girls school bathroom to piss parents off.
As someone said last night, people in New Jersey just walked into the booths and pulled the lever (I know, no one pulls the lever anymore) for the guy with the R next to his name.
New Jersey should scare the Dems even more than Virginia. I hope we will see a VERY fast change in the Biden administration's attitude toward vaccine mandates and vaccines for kids.
Probably not, though. The White House has demonstrated with Afghanistan and with Covid all year that it is too dumb to face facts or course correct. In the short run the “progressives” will scream that they need more - they always need more, don’t they? - to energize the base.
The fact that the guy who is nominally in charge cannot be trusted to find his way across the White House lawn probably doesn't help. When the person who is supposed to have the final say needs a Teleprompter to speak, the infighting a level down gets extremely intense.
And this is with the economy still solid. If inflation picks up further and forces the Fed despite its wishes to raise rates to tank the economy and stocks, the White House will be in even deep trouble.
Which is to say, not much may change until November 2022. But the less that changes before then, the more will change then.

I worked the polls yesterday in VA for Republicans and can tell you we had a melting pot of people come up to our booth to get a Republican sample ballot. People are pissed! It's Virginia AND BIDEN. Dems and Independents voted Republican, saying they can't believe what is happening in our country. Several LEGAL immigrants said they are really upset with Biden wanting to give 450,000 to certain illegals. Vaccine mandates also brought up. IF Dems are really doubling down, they are truly insane.
I tick all of those boxes (legal immigrant, Dem-leaning Independent, concerned about jab mandates and Biden's disrespect for the constitution and more...) so totally get it.
I'm also a legal immigrant and Independent voter. I can't believe the slap in the face to American people and other legal immigrants with that crazy deal to pay damages to people trying to enter illegally. Dems have gone off the rails but that one takes the cake!
Btw my religious exemption just got approved. (I work for a defense contractor). I was starting to get very worried about possibly losing my job over the jab. My husband and I celebrated Virginia last night by ordering a sign ‘let’s go Brandon’. I will put it up in the front yard. We are in the cook county IL if anyone knows where that is, I don’t know if my neighbors even know what conservative look like. Screw it, I’ve had enough!:)

Still not stable after they totally redesigned our elec. lines and hooked us up to a diff. substation. Just made it worse. Now we get mailings for free solar panel installs. Doesn't that require no trees blocking the sun? Gets shredded and recycled.

I'm not sure about the "the economy still solid" stuff. Data are all backward looking. The reality is prices are higher - I paid more than $50 to fill my Subaru a few days ago ... and I don't live in NYC or Calif. - inflation is running 5.4 percent. Economic growth - again backward looking - is maybe 2 percent. So stagflation is here. Meanwhile, fewer people are working and the supply chain, thanks in large part to government interference (see the rules in Ports of LA and Long Beach), is broken. So the economy is not still solid. It's busted. Big time.
Inflation is 74%. See the increase in the Federal Reserve's balance sheet last year. And prices, at least for "consumers", are increasing at least 30% annually.

They have electronic voting machines in New Jersey, including Dominion systems in Bergen county. Maybe the lack of electronic voting machines in Virginia actually allowed for Youngkin to win. Here in California we have electronic voting machines, mail-in voting, and early voting, the triple crown of manipulated voting results, so we'll never get rid of the creeps out here until the public finally realizes our voting systems are corrupt. The U.S. should do what France did and make mandatory paper ballots only for all elections and none of this extended voting periods and mail-in ballots nonsense which allows for massive cheating.
Up until a few years ago, here in CA we had in person voting, and you could either vote with a paper ballot or use a voting machine. I knew enough even then about computers to not trust a voting machine, so I always chose the paper ballot. Now of course, there are no polling places and ballots are mailed to everyone. I remember when the first mailed ballots went out...we were told our county was "testing" them to see how it worked. Now it's permanent. There's a CA govt website called "Where's my ballot" and you can go there to see if your ballot was counted. No way to determine if your vote was changed, however!

I'm not sure about the "the economy still solid" stuff. Data are all backward looking. The reality is prices are higher - I paid more than $50 to fill my Subaru a few days ago ... and I don't live in NYC or Calif. - inflation is running 5.4 percent. Economic growth - again backward looking - is maybe 2 percent. So stagflation is here. Meanwhile, fewer people are working and the supply chain, thanks in large part to government interference (see the rules in Ports of LA and Long Beach), is broken. So the economy is not still solid. It's busted. Big time.

Terrifying! One close relative was ranting on Farcebook 2 months ago that he strongly agreed with mandates. His FB "friend" had an excellent reply on his post that he was blinded by his TDS (yes, he had a severe case), why would he trust Big Pharma, etc. This relative has also been brainwashed by the constant fear-mongering on CNN/MSNBC which he turns on first thing in the morning. I sided with his FB "friend" despite my lifelong voting record as a member of the Democratic Party. Mandates and vaccine passports are truly a bad idea and worrisome for everyone's future.

They have electronic voting machines in New Jersey, including Dominion systems in Bergen county. Maybe the lack of electronic voting machines in Virginia actually allowed for Youngkin to win. Here in California we have electronic voting machines, mail-in voting, and early voting, the triple crown of manipulated voting results, so we'll never get rid of the creeps out here until the public finally realizes our voting systems are corrupt. The U.S. should do what France did and make mandatory paper ballots only for all elections and none of this extended voting periods and mail-in ballots nonsense which allows for massive cheating.

Up until a few years ago, here in CA we had in person voting, and you could either vote with a paper ballot or use a voting machine. I knew enough even then about computers to not trust a voting machine, so I always chose the paper ballot. Now of course, there are no polling places and ballots are mailed to everyone. I remember when the first mailed ballots went out...we were told our county was "testing" them to see how it worked. Now it's permanent. There's a CA govt website called "Where's my ballot" and you can go there to see if your ballot was counted. No way to determine if your vote was changed, however!

2) The WH is not going to stop the vaccine mandate b/c its not about the public health, that is merely the excuse. the goal is to set the precedent that the Federal government can without any legislative action (ie by edict alone) mandate medicating of the public and to do that they need a very high vaccination participation rate. You know the government uses precedent to acquire powers it has no right or authority to and the courts most often will back it b/c the courts also use precedent to create new rules.
Just imagine the power they (regardless of political party in power) will command and damage the wrong people in government could do with the ability to medicate the public without legislative action being required. Its very scary.

I hear NZ is bad-- very bad. My in laws raised their kids there and have passports to both NZ and USA. They need to sell their property there. They waited 6 months to get in.
They are both double vaxxed. They are in a government owned hotel. One room. They are not allowed to go to their property. They get 3 meals a day delivered to their room. Mostly cauliflower dishes. They get one hour a day outside and they have to call first to get an escort to bring them to the outside.
This one hour outside is in a parking garage where they can walk around. The hotel is fenced and surrounded by armed guards/NZ Air force or some such.
They are getting regular covid tests. They are in a virtual prison. They still think if everyone would mask up and vax all would be swell.
They have to stay there for 14 days. They have to pay for the hotel at some exorbitant cost unless they stay for 6 months. Then the government will reimburse them. It used to be to stay 3 months but they changed the rules.
