Oh Alex, regarding the porn twitter, you do know your search history is forever with your VPN, right? Don't be surprised when The Atlantic's next hit piece reference contains a "leak" from a concern citizen about your search history.

Just read this:

Agrawal, who has been in charge of Twitter for only four months, told employees not to expect big changes before the deal closes, which is set to happen before the end of this year. He also said that “ there are no plans for any layoffs at this point" and that Twitter's remote work policies will continue until the deal closes.

That censorship-loving wokester will be out of a job soon. Right now, there's crazy stuff going on at Twitter. I've seen people talking about men with a penis can't be women, Election Theft 2020 and all manner of things that would get you banned.

The deal may not be complete but the impact is already being felt. I don't appear to be shadow banned and deboosted anymore. Others are reporting significant increases in their followers "returning."

Can't speak for Alex and his lawyers but soon enough there will be discussions on how to end his case and Twatter ban.

Agreed, Twitter last night was already very different. Lots of "test" tweets with no warning banner even after hours had passed. People welcoming a sudden influx of followers, others appearing in my feed after weeks of not seeing them and announcing they no longer appear to be shadow banned. I don't know how or why but some things changed immediately.

Anyone remember back in the days when Hollywood made original well written movies that were inspiring? I always liked this line from the movie "The American President" with Michael Douglas playing the role of President:

"America isn't easy. America is advanced citizenship. You've got to want it bad, because it's gonna put up a fight. It's gonna say, "You want free speech? Let's see you acknowledge a man whose words make your blood boil who is standing center stage and advocating at the top of his lungs that which you would spend a lifetime opposing at the top of yours. You want to claim this land as the 'land of the free'? Then the symbol of your country cannot just be a flag. The symbol also has to be one of its citizens exercising his right to burn that flag in protest. Now show me that, defend that, celebrate that in your classrooms. Then you can stand up and sing about the 'land of the free.'"

Yes! It's difficult to find anything I want to watch. They're either laced with subtle propaganda or so devoid of thought whatsoever, I'd rather read a book or watch a DVD. Several months ago I cancelled NotFlix and this month cancelled Amazone, who can't seem to find my house anymore so there's no point. I'll get my books & music elsewhere.

Funny, that movie was 100% leftist propaganda back in the day. Don’t get me wrong, it was a great movie and one I loved, but even then I knew I (always conservative) was being indoctrinated. That said, what was once pretty far left is now center or even a little right. It was and is a good movie speech, either way.

Expand full comment

Had the same thought, that was the Liberal Speech back in the day. Just goes to show its not left or right but power that makes you authoritarian.

Expand full comment

Dig the palindrome "Holes" reference! Also a great and well written book and movie! :)

Look, as far as it being "propaganda" I disagree. The propaganda is in how they portrayed conservatives in general and Richard Dreyfus' character in particular. But the speech itself is fundamental American values down to its very core. There is no real argument against it. Its how I was raised as an American and it was something I was always proud of.... it boils down to "Do you believe the words? Is there something that the character is saying in those lines that you could or would argue against?" I doubt it, right?

Back when this rom-com movie was made in the mid'90's, free speech was the defacto liberal position, and it was the right one. (back then many liberals were basically being censored and shut out of the public discourse of that era by conservatives. I remember, because I was conservative then and I saw it happening) Nowadays, it is the defacto position of the conservatives as they are being censored and shut out of the public discourse. Those words from his speech were as true then as they are now. Nothing has changed about the fundamental principles of the speech. Only the cheering section has changed.

Truths are not subject to the whims of politics. They remain truths whether they are coming from the left or the right.

Expand full comment

That quote is not propaganda and, as I said, was a good speech in the movie. The movie itself is full of leftist propaganda and ideology. It was directed by Rob Reiner and stars some of the biggest activist leftist actors. The two issues that the film hung on were gun control and vehicle emissions.

Expand full comment

agreed, Yelnats! :) (and how come no cred for "Dig the "Holes"??? come on, Mon!!! :)

As far as the politics of that movie, I remember that. there is propaganda in every story ever told, including this. I realize we can only have one writer as stories tend to get out of control if told from multiple pov. I really wish just once they would tell both sides of an issue by competent and intellectually sound debaters. Its like superhero movies wherein the super heroes only survive because the bad guys are such terrible shots! LOL

gun control and vehicle emissions are debatable issues that reasonable people can disagree on. (As opposed to "Free speech vs Authoritarian censorship for instance. ;) ) I have friends that argue those issues with me all the time, our friendship is never in danger. BUT, if any of my friends were to ever argue on behalf of censorship and authoritarian centralized control ...well lets just say I know that would turn Mr Hand into Mr Fist.(my parents came here from USSR)

Totally agree with you about the movie Stanley; if that's your real name :)

That's good. But probably from an old movie. Wealth and comfort does not seem to make freedom grow. That is Hollywood's problem (and I'd argue much of America's problem these days-those conditions-too much success w/ free market and our system of government)

I hope that Hollywood starts making those types of movies again, instead of the EXACT opposite. I believe enemies like China have substantial impact in our present lack of faith in our overall system. And corrupt (and rich and comfortable) politicians.

The dropping of thousand of bots that's going on in twitter now makes me think that there are FAR more patriots than commonly presumed.

And why would the Left cheat if they knew that they were winning (or had won)? I think they know and rely on cheating in general (why claiming that anybody who isn't left is cheating)

If Twitter goes under a paywall that will be a rebellious situation. Not impressed with Jeff, and Elon still has to prove himself. Very grateful for you and your work on Covid early on - when my daughters school started moving towards mandated masking - I actually bought 20 copies of Unreported Truths - masks- and handed them out- which led to my 8y/o getting expelled a week before Xmas - we did get an injunction but we were forced to find a new school for her mid year-

I have no doubt and I have great hope that reasonableness will return to the “C” suite at Twitter and your case will be resolved to your benefit to avoid a lengthy trial which they are most likely to lose.

I hope for you - you will be able to find new mountains to climb-it can sometimes be difficult when you have dedicated this much of your life to a specific endeavor and in a moment it is completed….

I vehemently disagree with you on multiple issues - you are a New York liberal and your understanding of the world around you is limited to that bizzare bubble in which you live (18MM people piled on top of each other) -but on this one issue, at this one moment- you swerved into the truth- you got it right- the country and my family is now better off for your alacrity of thought-and ur determined efforts -

I’m sure we’ll see you in the breech within the next major American disaster- which is no doubt soon to be upon us!!

It's always FAR easier to destroy than it is to create. And the left needs to destroy because it's the only way it can press it's 'prescription' on America. It cannot argue with any success, because the left has been too insulated and 'protected' from free speech. They can only 'argue' with other leftists and their ideas have become so far out into 'left' field, that it has no support from common sense. Or regular people who work for a living, and the middle class. Another reason for lock downs, which helps to destroy the middle class.
