Is The US About To Go Full Louis XVI? (Zerohedge)

"…The King did, however, control the tax collectors. And Louis made sure they had every authority to coerce, harass, and intimidate money out of French citizens.

French tax collectors had the authority to walk right into people’s homes unannounced, conduct surprise inspections to look for hidden wealth, and walk away with whatever money or property they felt would satisfy the peasant’s tax bill.

This is actually a pretty common theme throughout history: governments that are on the ropes routinely resort to plundering the savings of their citizens.

Several ancient Roman emperors, in fact, from Diocletian to Valentinian III, famously sent ruthless tax collectors to harass their citizens and steal their wealth. Several ancient Chinese dynasties did the same thing. So did the declining Ottoman Empire.

Significantly ramping up tax collection efforts is typically a hallmark of an economy and empire in decline..."

Interesting. I just read a book called "How the Irish Saved Civilization." In the chapter about the end of the Roman Empire, the tax collectors quit en masse and had to be threatened, goaded and forced back on the job.

Just looking at the covid industrial complex, taxes were used to pay for the gain of function research that created covid-19. Taxes were used to develop the vaccines, and then pay for all of of the "free" tests and vaccines. Taxes were used to promote the covid shots including through big tech, mainstream media, and influencers. Taxes pay the salaries of officials that promoted lockdowns, vaccine mandates and censorship against any dissent.

Expand full comment

Well, particularly it was "taxation without representation". The Constitution says that if any tax needs to be issued, it is to be issued equally among all citizens. The income tax was one of the worst things ever done to the people by THEIR GOVERNMENT.

Expand full comment

Yes, but none of the "elected officials" actually represent me, or most of the people that I know, so my statement stands. And I doubt that the tax laws are placed on those "elected officials" in the same manner as the "peasants". It was a tax on tea that "broke the camel's back".

I knew a man who was an IRS agent and he packed a pistol because people kill IRS agents, just the way they'll kill a game warden if he can't defend himself. Tax cheats and poachers are known to kill if they judge stakes too high. I think it's fair to let them carry weapons.

The majority of IRS agents sit in their offices and have victims ...er, taxpayers come to them. Governmental offices check for weapons before entry.

I don't love paying taxes any more than the next guy. But if you're going to have a government appropriate money to support NASA, the Fish and Wildlife Service, the National Parks and all the other fun things, and the military, it's going to entail a bureaucracy. So much of of what we take for granted is paid for by taxes. Is the government in need of downsizing?Definitely. How do you propose to address that? By being a tax cheat?

Is every single one of the IRS staff in the buildings armed? I doubt it.

If you've read RFK, Jr's book, he includes a section on all the pandemic "simulations" or "war game" that the Science Establishment has staged over the years. It's pretty clear from certain excerpts that these "planners" had prioritized "flooding the zone" with pro-lockdown and pro-vaccine messages. A part of this narrative control operation was using a "stick" to send a message to resisters. Alex's earlier dispatch shows people in the White House intentionally targeted individuals who had the potential to "persuade" other would-be skeptics (like Alex). So all they did was work their plan. Also, I get the impression they KNEW these goals would be easy to achieve as they knew legacy media and social media would "work with them." Indeed, a member of the press was often included in these simulation exercises. They telegraphed what they were going to do and then they did it. And what they did was a violation of the First Amendment. FWIW, in reading these accounts, no participant expressed any concerns about violating the First Amendment.

Expand full comment

sorry but at RFK you lost me. Im sure a lot of the facts you stated are true but this is the guy who wanted to put people who disagreed with him on climate change in jail. He has zero credibility even when he is right. We need to be consistent or we are just like the Fauci's of the world. Grinding an axe for our own benefit.

Expand full comment

Sorry you wrote off RFK just because he was overzealous on climate. Virtually everyone who writes book jacket and serious review support of RFK’s Fauci book was on the other side of RFK on climate. But they read his 450 page book with its thousands of footnotes and saw him rip apart the corrupt psychotic Fauci with example after example. You can’t possibly ever understand how badly the global left and global health establishment failed us without a thorough reading of RFK’s Fauci book. It is a stunning insider’s look into decades of the crimes of the DC Swamp.

Expand full comment

Fair point but what gives me hope in all of this is a bunch people coming in from different perspectives and different ideologies finding agreement on the big things and learning how to negotiate their differences on the other stuff wthout destroying each other. As i said I am sure a lot of his data is correct but we do not need bomb throwers destroying our credibility.

Expand full comment

Biden is uniting us. . totally unintentionally.

Expand full comment

You could flip that argument. The people who think like he allegedly does on climate change are all part of the same mob that is now calling for him to be censored and vilified for challenging the Covid narratives. (I say "calling for," this has already happened. Kennedy is even more censored and radioactive to the mainstream crowd than Alex). And, FWIW, the Kennedy I've been following the last 2 1/2 years is one of the strongest defenders of free speech. If you've read the book, half of it is a blistering critique of the "servile" and "captured" Fourth Estate.

Expand full comment

agree and I am not saying he's wrong on any of these points but my point was his previous comments make me very leery of making him representative of any cause I support. I an imagine walking out of a rally (OK I wouldnever go to a rally but thats a different point) and saying "did he really say 'and next we kill the XXXXX's'?" and um the family name also makes me nervous in terms of willingness to cross the line.

Expand full comment

As far as I'm concerned, he's proven his "hero" bona fides many times over. He should get one of those "Profile in Courage" awards named after his uncle. The irony is that his own family and the people who select those "brave" honorees would never nominate someone like RFK, Jr. It's one thing to stand up to, say, segregationists and be honored ... but you can't stand up to Pfizer, Fauci, the president, all the global corporations, all the Big Media companies, etc.

Expand full comment

I am not a fan of RFK Jr. or of ANY Kennedy for that matter; but I found an abundance of relevant information in the book.

Give up on public schools and homeschool. I know everyone was home during all that time, but when you are still in the public school system, trying to use online systems that don't work, or waiting for teachers do stuff, it's not at all the same. If they were really being homeschooled, by parents, they would not be behind. There are a lot of options with homeschooling, partly depending on what state you are in. In my state, it's legal to homeschool with two families together, so in the past during a period that I was at home, i homeschooloed another girl alongside my own daughter. I have a niece who took a nursing job that was weekends only - she worked every weekend 12 hour shifts, but was paid full time and could homeschool her son during the week. For a long time, my husband I were both self-employed and worked at home, we arranged our schedules to take turns with the schooling. I could start out in the morning with our daughter, and then she could read or work on assignments while we worked also. I get that damage was done by keeping schools closed, but the schools are generally so bad, many people have left the public schools due to Covid issues, and those who completely shifted to actual parent-controlled real homeschooling have many of them had good experiences and are not going back. My niece specifically started homeschooling only because of Covid; whereas, my husband and I had homeschooled our daughter in the past fo r other reasons - pulled her out of school because we were not satisfied with what was being provided. For us, it was an extremely worthwhile change.
