This is by far the longest I've gone without posting since Unreported Truths began almost three years ago - thanks for letting me take a family vacation...
Alex. I pay for about 15 subscriptions and yours is the best written and on the most choice of subjects. I look forward to reading your articles and one of the key attractions for me is the relative scarcity of the posts (relative to my other paid-for subscriptions).
When you post , I realise it is either on an important and timely issue (and well written) or it is insightful and reflective (and well written). So don't beat yourself up about not posting that often - at least not for this subscriber, I am happy with infrequent and high quality.
(Also glad you had a nice time with family - they no doubt deserve it.)
Thank you! I'm glad you enjoy the Stack. It is a lot of work but it beats digging ditches. And more seriously, I hope that the format allows me to offer evidence over time on issues like the mRNAs - that the articles build on each other. I don't expect everyone to have read everything, but I do hope that people might at least vaguely remember previous articles on a topic (and I can always link to them - I should do that more).
I pay for a good number of stacks but take breaks from Substack all together…… reality matters, family matters, sanity matters. Hope you enjoyed your vacation. As far as I’m concerned they are important - family reminds us why it’s worth the fight
Stay solo. I let my subscription to The Dispatch lapse, they were just getting too big. I couldn't consume all the news they provided. The Free Press is moving in that direction. Just keep it small, concise and personal.
My finances are tight, so it took me a while to subscribe. It's only been a few months, but the quality of the content has already made the subscription well worth the cost.
You are uniquely forthright and engaged with your readership. You admit mistakes quickly and with special posts. You write about technical material in an accessible and entertaining style without being condescending.
I appreciate the work you do. I also appreciate you're a human with a family, back problems, and a major court case against our very corrupt government. Hope the vacation was great, it was well earned.
Everyone deserves a break away and some vacation time to rest the mind. Thank You for what you’re doing.
One area regarding COVID I think really needs some investigation. Too many deaths in young athletes have occurred from amateur to professional. In many of these cases those that died were using PEDs and so it was nonchalantly explained away as the possible cause for death. As a competitive bodybuilder I’ve encountered this stupidity time and again. I recently banned from a Reddit forum for suggesting others look at the elephant in the room rather than instantly clamming it on PED usage. There is also many non PED related with the same common element. They took multiple jabs!
It is always OK to take a break to refresh and recharge. My recommendation is that you let your readers know upfront before you break that you will be AWOL. That would be the best way to manage expectations. Anyone who is upset that you are breaking and not writing should unsubscribe.
I've just retired, Alex. I've been published in industrial magazines and I just started a Substack of my own on my obsession with music. I'm one of your paid subscribers and a very good researcher. If I can help, let me know.
Cool, I'm obsessed with music too and it's been so since I was a toddler. I'll check your stack out and see what it's all about.
I'd "retire" but would still work the same since hubs & I own a small restaurant business, although I'd get my benefits & not have to pay myself. When (if) the economy improves, I really look forward to selling it and recouping the small fortune we've invested in it.

Same here.

Ditto!

Agreed. Solo is good.
Glad you got to recharge. We all need it sometimes.
Quality over quantity every time. And nothing more important than your family.
I was surprised that you had handwritten the address for your books - you really are a one man band.
Write as much or little as you need, my subscription was out of gratitude for what you’ve done as well as the quality of writing and reporting.

Time off makes us better at whatever work we’re called to—it’s essential
Well deserved spring break! But just so you know: we *were* wondering ...
well deserved and hope your cup is filling back up from spending time with your family

Welcome - and good luck with your business!
Family first!! No need to apologize.
Everyone needs to take a vacation, Alex. Thank you for everything you do and welcome back!
