The best thing about the last few years was finding out exactly what everybody was really made of. It turns out a bunch of people I thought were wonderful human beings would have turned in Anne Frank and then bragged about it on social media.

Q: How do you get people to kill other people?

Read Mattias Desmet's recently published book: The Psychology of Totalitarianism for a cogent explanation of how this comes to be. His book is powerful, profoundly insightful, and worth pondering deeply. I'm in the process of rereading it. I think it's a monumentally important work.

Thanks - getting it now.

For an absolutely staggering treatment of how authoritarian governments follow in the aftermath of pandemic infectious diseases, here is a link to Jordan Peterson discussing the Parasite Stress Hypothesis in 2017.

It seems that the Conscientiousness trait of Big 5 Personality Trait model can be subdivided into Hard-working and Orderly - and Orderly people have high Disgust Sensitivity.

Disgust sensitivity may be the biologically endowed substrate that gives rise to tribalism, I.e. we’re immune to our bugs we’re suspicious of yours. JP shows how Hitler wasn’t afraid of Jews but disgusted by them.

Authoritarians provide boundaries - so the next bug won’t get in. The jaw-dropping idea is that Xenophobia maybe rooted in biology, not merely in the shallow mind.

Didn’t Hitler initially whip up anti-Jewish hysteria by portraying Jews as disease vectors? There was huge emphasis on health in the Third Reich—Für ihre Sicherheit was the favored slogan.

I believe it started as a class war and after they found their "1%" they ramped up the rhetoric to include reasons that would make German's believe they were explicitly dangerous and not just "thieves".

Für ihre Sicherheit means "for your safety/security", not "for your health". That would have been Für ihre Gesundheit.

Being part of the tribe and rejecting outsiders was a legit survival strategy for most of human existence. Allowing outsiders to infiltrate the tribe and take the resources of the tribe was near suicide. Allowing yourself to be thrown out of the tribe and having to subsist on your own was also near suicide.

Very interesting. I’m thinking of some orderly people I know. They’re very sensitive to ordinary things in a way that impedes them from living fully. They may be embarrassed to be found out in this weakness, and so they turn their inability to function into disgust or disparagement (or whatever other emotion they’re most comfortable funneling their inner turmoil through) of the person causing the “problem”, i.e., they externalize their problem. And when we do that we remain stuck. And this might also be why so many are still living the corona situation when it’s way past its time.

Expand full comment

Not fully on board with "Types". But when you are sensitive to change, a paradigm shift like the past few years will bring out the best or worst. Externalizing the "problem" also magnifies it, for a sense of righteousness or purposefulness. Cue the masked hikers in the parks! I would add the loud, proud anti-maskers, but we are all here!

Absolutely correct - my wife is jabbed but not the kids or me. After some unhealthy debate (why don't you just do it and be done with it approach?) she has luckily realized her folly and will not be having a booster, no way Jose. Her brother is a doctor (cardiologist actually) and was first in the queue for his jabs - many times he admonished me for 'being stubborn' (like my own Doctor did frequently), but after being boosted and getting the rona he has become silent on the issue - while his wife is jabbed, the 4 kids remain unjabbed. So in summary while I I have not had relationships dissolve it is still very sad to see the true colours of people, especially family and friends. Actually, many folk I know actually almost apologize for having taken the poison now and I'd say a few have big regrets. I'm in Canada and I still cannot enter the US and have to quarantine for 14 days if I do return from abroad and there was me thinkin' that society only does that to the sick, not the healthy - silly me!! That is very sad indeed, Your family (especially your brother) should be ashamed of themselves. Not welcome at your own fathers funeral is heartbreaking. I hope you have some immediate family that are sensible.

Expand full comment

I am of the opinion that we need to go - whether welcome or not. We need to KEEP reminding them that they are WRONG. That they do not have the right to ban us from ANYTHING!!

Thanks Debby. It was a very painful experience. Rest of family has drunk the Kool-aid. They are all jabbed and boosted, but caught the bug anyway (it was a nasty experience for them). Of course it could have been much worse without the jabs because that's what the experts keep saying. Doubt they will ever wake up, although I keep hoping.

That line drives me absolutely crazy. How can you know it was worse/better? It is not like you get a do-over to compare and say'yes, it was MUCH worse without the jab'l!' Unreal....

Expand full comment

Oh the jab is definitely worse! But subliminal messaging is a powerful tool. I hear the same identically worded messaging parroted back to me by friends and family who swallow the lies. Scary as heck.

Remember all Biden said about the non injected. How he was able to get away with that is criminal and it's simply explained away as politics

This is awful. The federal and many State agencies have lost the trust of much of the population. I was house hunting in Florida in the winter of 2020. I had to return to Michigan where I lived for over 30 years, in order to sell my house and move. I could not believe the day to day difference’s between the two states. My relatives in Michigan kid’s schools were closed at the drop of a hat. In Florida the school busses arrived every day to pick up the kids in my and every other neighborhood in the state.

And mosquitoes don't forget the mosquitoes some of them are as large as birds, they can literally carry off a Chihuahua so if you're a Democrat voter keep that in mind they absolutely love attacking democrats for some reason It's if they just know something's wrong with them they like feasting on their blood. Because they're mostly weak and easy prey ,t's simply horrifying hundreds of hundreds of mosquitoes the size of mockingbirds. If you want to come here and back The greatest governor in the country . we welcome you And if not you get fed to the gators, whatever the skeeters leave behind

Schneile, my neighbors think I'm crazy for being excited to have rat snakes and racers pop up in our pastures.

I think they are crazy for killing off harmless rodent control! Told them me or my 7 year old can run over and catch the garter snakes they keep killing, if they want them gone. 😂

As a Floridian, it was surreal to read all of the horror stories regarding covid hysteria from other states. It felt like I was reading about far-away, 3rd-world countries, simply couldn't (and still can't) believe these stories came from within the USA. Extremely thankful to be a Floridian and under the governance of Desantis... And to think that Andrew Gillum damn near won - a terrifying thought...

When I was house hunting in Florida in February of 2020 I was told that the local police in my hometown in Michigan were handing out $250 tickets to people who were walking out of Home Depot with “non essential” items like paint.

Those stories are heartbreaking, and puts my own Covid woes into perspective. I think I will give my hubby a big kiss when he gets home. ❤️ Thank God we are on the same page about this political BS.

I am forced into retirement by a vax mandate. It has spoiled one important relationship but fortunately those in my family who disagree are not the ostracizing types. Even though I have studied this every day for over a year - all the aspects of this including the science and the WEF agenda are that involved - I still am dumbstruck at the mass formation (read “The Psychology of Totalitarianism”, which explains it well) and blithering ignorance I see repeatedly. I guess the rush to call Anne Frank someone with white privilege, as was done on Twitter recently, and the ensuing absurdity of the analysis, shows this Branch Covidians crap as a symptom of a rapidly disintegrated society-exactly what the globalists want.

Ernie - once you see it (the manipulation, political hijacking, media manipulation) you can never un-see it. It is a new frontier. How cleverly they divided us, and still continue to divide.

I was seeing some of my former workmates online and one said he wished I would come around (not said nastily). I said “I can’t unsee what I’ve seen”. How true that is, mercifully.

I know. Fortunately for me the HR enforcers accepted my lengthy religious exemption, while firing many others for not getting jabbed. Now I walk around work (mandatorily) masked, looking at all the people unmasked - knowing they all think I am an idiot, but I look at them, (my head held high), with pity and at our dear "leaders" with disgust- I just can't get over the fact of what they did to their employees that they always say they care so much for (and their customers that they also mandated be vaxed). Makes me sick. (Yes I am looking for another job-for a company that did not do that to their employees)

These stories come from America where the restrictions were LESS than most other places.

Imagine if we could get some of the stories from the Chinese people in Shanghai who were locked in their homes and saw their dogs and cats beaten to death in the streets.

I'd like to hear from Australians who were forced into "quarantine camps" or Canadians who had their bank accounts frozen because they didn't believe the "right" things.

But the greatest damage had to be inflicted on those who are too young to tell their stories. The children who missed the critical window in which their brains learn to read faces. The children who didn't learn to pronounce words because they couldn't see other human mouths working. The damage the Covid crazies did to the world is impossible to overstate.

So true, KLG. There is a very ugly side to this, and the generational damage will be horrific. I can't get the image of those Shanghai cats and dogs out of my mind. How low have we as people have fallen? Not that those lives were more important than the humans locked into their apartments, but the entire situation was very shocking.

I obviously also cannot forget those pets who suffered such a horrific fate. I consider my pets to be family members. I'm going to leave it at that so that I don't sound like a complete crazy person - even though when it comes to my pets, I am a little crazed with how wonderful I think they are.

The people who think the shots work don’t understand why their unvaxxed relatives are “trying to kill them.” It’s a pretty hard thing to get past.

They forget…the jab is to protect THEM, not everyone else. And if it was a TRUE vaccine, they would have immunity. This is insanity.

Expand full comment

I don't know who said it but it is worth repeating, it's the only vaccine that I have to get to make yours work.

Yep, especially when our betters leave uncorrected the carefully crafted implication that, if only everyone had taken the vaccine, there would be no variants infecting the vaccinated.

These stories tell me my family was very fortunate. Neither the wife or I, the three sons and their wives/fiancees or our grandchildren were vaccinated. Neighbors on both sides refused the vax except for one who did it so he could see his grandchildren who lived California (naturally-so many fruits and nuts there). My wife was one of the first to catch on to the farce. Although we circulated in public at will often without masks when we could, none of us caught Covid. There was no turmoil. We stood up for each other and told others we would not take an experimental drug that altered our immune system. One son quit a defense contractor requiring vaxes. Now I see the vaxed rapidly losing their memory, others experiencing unusual symptoms and dropping out of social activity, some experiencing debilitating stenosis and many catching Covid. And the number of "mysterious and unexplained" early deaths reported in the news. It is very sad to to see the physical and emotional pain others have experienced mainly because some family member adamantly believed the medical authorities and refused to do the research and think for themselves. People making emotional decisions with out of control egos that never admit they are wrong leads to disastrous results affecting many besides themselves. We are very fortunate indeed!

I fear that we all have a story. Every single person has had a relationship end over this madness. My family has shunned myself and my children because we are unvaxxed. My husband was mandated and I still cry with worry over it. It’s beyond disgusting what has been done. And it was on purpose. To all the other commentators who have already stated “you cannot unsee what you’ve already seen” is on target. Most of us know exactly where this is heading. It makes me crazy that others don’t see it. Ignorance truly is bliss.

You are so right Katie - we have all been affected by this complete craziness. We lost a daughter to the madness. She refuses to be around us because we did not take injections. Thank GOD our daughter with grandkids did not buy in to the nonsense. Also the family members who are non injectors are now our very best friends and we support each other every single day. We must stand firm against the totalitarianism.
