It's funny how clever Trump is, but most don't get it. It's a "trial balloon" for the usual suspects to shoot down. Then Trump says "we offered to rebuild the place ourselves, and the Gazans weren't interested. We'll let the Israelis handle it now" Brilliant - it would never happen of course, and he knows it. So do you.
Yes!!! Some call them “pattern interrupts”. They serve to throw people especially those with entrenched ideas off balance and get them to think outside the box. This is another option as to why Trump did this.
He likes to lob figurative grenades and watch what happens. It appears to be an effective tactic for him.
No need for alarm because I highly doubt this would actually happen. Why do people freak out when he says this stuff?
A little unsettling that Alex and so many of the posters here hit the immediate panic button. Relax. Take a breath and let it play out a little. See what happens and then decide if it's the end of times.
I'm as opposed to it as anybody. Wrote a comment on X, it could be Trump's Vietnam.
I was once in a job negotiating high dollar contracts. When I was new in the job a customer made a threat to take his business away. We had some leverage we could use. I asked my predecessor, what should I do? He taught me, use your leverage, and drop it like an anvil on the customer's foot. After the customer had a chance to consider the pain, reach down, pick the anvil up off his foot, and counter with a reasonable offer.
Watching the negotiations between Hamas and Israel through the media, in my opinion Hamas has been unreasonable,. They've tentatively made some agreements and then reneged. They don't keep their word and are constantly re-trading the deal. They either don't have any integrity, they don't really know how to value the negotiation trade-offs, or they have too many captains. Or all of the above.
Trump is softening them up. It's a negotiating tactic.
A side benefit- Trump's internal adversaries will have a conniption fit, accusing him of wanting to steal the land to build Trump hotels and such.
After thinking it over, I'm pretty sure the US isn't really going to put troops in Gaza.
But wow... This "We Take Over Gaza" thing is truly skating on thin ice. No, better analogy... Seeing the iceberg ahead and advancing the throttle to full speed.
USA in Gaza is just sooooo wrong. It's worse than US in Philippines in early 1900s. Back then, at least USGovt had an excuse... Just inherited this fading outpost of empire from Spain, per War of 1898, and US history had not taught us any seriously contrary lessons.
Today? We know better. Nation building? See Iraq. Or Afghantsi.
I don't think Trump is interested in nation building. I think he wants the countries in the Middle East to step up and give Gazans a safe home where Hamas will not be able to run their terrorist operations from. They've tried the 2 state solution, it doesn't work. Neither the Gazans nor the Israelis deserve to live in fear of bombs going off at any moment.
Trump is a living, breathing paradox. Stop and take a breath before responding to his reliably ineloquent rhetoric. Remember that our system of government places checks and balances on the President's actions, but not upon his speech. It's been a lot to absorb in a short 15 days - for all of us.
It is intended to get the Arab nations to step up and take care of the problem. I'm surprised you think this is bad in any way. President Trump knows exactly what he is doing.
It nothing like we are used to and frankly I it is not to my taste (or Alex's for that matter.) But that's style not substance. I care about the results and like what i have seen so far.
And let me add, the old ways of doing things do not work (at least for us) anymore. So who am I (or alex) to criticize?
Ha! Ironically I just wrote an article about how I’ve learned more about the government from the media and how in the media arts, government runs perfectly— unlike real life.
You underestimate him. Every time he comes out with something wacky or does something wacky and everyone calls him wacky he ends up being right. Have faith sit this one out and watch and see. I have complete confidence in him.
Even Bibi said “he says bold things and does things that people call crazy, but after you think about it for a bit and sit back, you see he’s right”.
And just how MANY leaders in history were deemed wacky initially...a TON of them. Its what the BOLD are always accused of. They have the balls and kahunas to make S happen. Just sayin...
If only there were a legislative branch of some sort that could serve as a check to the executive. In al seriousness, this is purely "art of the deal", people really should read the book. He's tossing a grenade and waiting for Egypt to jump on it. NOBODY wants the US in the middle east, including DJT.
Like with the tariffs, it's all part of the art of the deal in my opinion. It's a tool to get what he wants in the end. I think it's insane also, but I think the idea is to throw out crazy ideas at this point because, why not?! He has an endgame in mind, and the first thought out there is not it. We're not going to do business as usual anymore, and this is another signal of that to the world.
Just short of genocide? The hysterical accusations of genocide serve no purpose. We’ve heard quite enough of that. You lose credibility for the rest of your comments when you start by lobbing that stink bomb as your opening point.
Spot on. Genocide is just stupid. One of the dumbest things Alex has ever said and it reminds me that he is not to be taken seriously on pretty much anything except COVID. Otherwise, he's the typical mindless liberal. What's Next-- Trump Is Hitler?
I think Alex is having liberal remorse. He took a big leap of faith and voted for Trump even though it was against his instincts. He's afraid he'll be party to a catastrophe.
I for one am thoroughly enjoying watching what Trump is doing. Every day I look forward to the news headlines and trying to understand what the real endgame is. The added benefit is the left flipping out. They always can be counted on takinghim literally!!
On the contrary, this is how Trump operates. Throw out statements to keep the enemies off balance.
We can all agree that this isn't how we want our Presidents to act, BUT, there has been so much damage by our previous Presidents, this is no time to let our enemies settle themselves. They must be kept on their toes.
I’ve had it with the silver-tongued do-nothing’s. Actions speak louder than words. I freaking love this President Trump. He’s taking no prisoners and it’s showtime.!!!
I agree about keeping his enemies off balance. Just when they think he's going to zig, he zags. I haven't looked at any news about Trump's plan for Gaza but I think Democrats will be screaming he's going to build a Trump hotel in Gaza and profit from the Presidency.
Brother, I thought you are smarter than MSM, can't you just wait a little longer? He is distracting the radical left in a thousand different ways so that he can get his things done. Let the bullet fly a little longer!
I liked it. Gaza is a crap pile. Maybe it will force the Arab nations to utilize their sovereign wealth fund to clean it up and make it a better place.
Throw it out there and see if anything happens. Gaza isn't going to change without something significant happening. Forcing the Arab nations to do something is a good idea.
It's funny how clever Trump is, but most don't get it. It's a "trial balloon" for the usual suspects to shoot down. It's a comment to get the conversation started. Sometimes you just need a starting point. And in some cases the more absurd the better.
Yes!!! Some call them “pattern interrupts”. They serve to throw people especially those with entrenched ideas off balance and get them to think outside the box. This is another option as to why Trump did this.

A little unsettling that Alex and so many of the posters here hit the immediate panic button. Relax. Take a breath and let it play out a little. See what happens and then decide if it's the end of times.
Exactly, exactly, exactly. No need to overthink it and freak out.
Agreed
I'm as opposed to it as anybody. Wrote a comment on X, it could be Trump's Vietnam.

Just wait and see. Or I know. Let's just keep doing the same thing, definition of insanity. Whatever.
The 2 state solution. How many years have they been working on that failed policy?
The Israelis don't want a 2 state solution. WE should cut the strings and let the apartheid country sink or swim on its own. Remember the USS LIBERTY.
I said it's a failed policy that Democrats keep pushing. It doesn't work. it won't work.
Ahem, the Palestinians don't want a 2 state solution either. That's a big factor in where they find themselves as well.
It's not serious. It just proves that a real solution is not possible.
Trump is a living, breathing paradox. Stop and take a breath before responding to his reliably ineloquent rhetoric. Remember that our system of government places checks and balances on the President's actions, but not upon his speech. It's been a lot to absorb in a short 15 days - for all of us.

Exactly. Style IS NOT substance. Everyone needs to remember that. Thank you.
Wrong! Much of statesmanship is performance art!
Yes, Art of the Deal. And Trump is comically great at getting it in the news and the ball rolling...
Totally agree. This is an aspect of diplomacy.
Ha! Ironically I just wrote an article about how I’ve learned more about the government from the media and how in the media arts, government runs perfectly— unlike real life.
https://unorthodoxy.substack.com/p/5-real-world-insights-from-a-tv-show
Trumps statements, real life or media, should be frowned upon regardless
You underestimate him. Every time he comes out with something wacky or does something wacky and everyone calls him wacky he ends up being right. Have faith sit this one out and watch and see. I have complete confidence in him.

That’s exactly why we voted for him!!! I think history will be very kind to DJT
Let's HOPE those that write it tell the truth or that truth is not re-written for future indoctrination agendas...
Yes. Unfortunately that happens a lot. Agreed
If only there were a legislative branch of some sort that could serve as a check to the executive. In al seriousness, this is purely "art of the deal", people really should read the book. He's tossing a grenade and waiting for Egypt to jump on it. NOBODY wants the US in the middle east, including DJT.
I hope like hell you are right, because the US taking over Gaza is possibly the worst idea I've ever heard.
OHH yeah where has that branch been for the last 70 years????
Like with the tariffs, it's all part of the art of the deal in my opinion. It's a tool to get what he wants in the end. Spot on. Genocide is just stupid. One of the dumbest things Alex has ever said and it reminds me that he is not to be taken seriously on pretty much anything except COVID. Otherwise, he's the typical mindless liberal. What's Next-- Trump Is Hitler?
It sounds just like the Covidians screaming “millions will die” if they weren’t allowed to lock down the country.
I think Alex is having liberal remorse. He took a big leap of faith and voted for Trump even though it was against his instincts. He's afraid he'll be party to a catastrophe.
Exactly
Chill.
he could always try just wringing his hands; that's worked real well for 50+ years
Right...swamp just allowed to continue to swamp. Nov 5th said NO MORE if it said anything at all!
I for one am thoroughly enjoying watching what Trump is doing. Every day I look forward to the news headlines and trying to understand what the real endgame is. The added benefit is the left flipping out. They always can be counted on takinghim literally!!
EXACTLY. Let's just keep doing the same insanity and expect a different result.
I would ask a simple question: Who, precisely, is qualified to criticize Donald J. Trump? Who has EVER done what he has done?
We are all qualified to criticize when warranted. He is a man, not a demi-God. But knee-jerk criticism is unwarranted, in my opinion.
Grover Cleveland, the 22nd and 24th President of the United States?
Great quote I heard yesterday local radio talk show:
Trump's voters take him seriously, not literally. His detractors take him literally, not seriously. Sums it up nicely
Perfect statement actually
On the contrary, this is how Trump operates. Throw out statements to keep the enemies off balance.
We can all agree that this isn't how we want our Presidents to act, BUT, there has been so much damage by our previous Presidents, this is no time to let our enemies settle themselves. They must be kept on their toes.
I’ve had it with the silver-tongued do-nothing’s. Actions speak louder than words. I freaking love this President Trump. He’s taking no prisoners and it’s showtime.!!!
And that's how all politicians and leaders should be viewed. I only care about the actions. Words are meaningless (except for the haters)
Yes...the era of the coddled, entitled and victim minded died Nov 5th!
I agree about keeping his enemies off balance. Just when they think he's going to zig, he zags. I haven't looked at any news about Trump's plan for Gaza but I think Democrats will be screaming he's going to build a Trump hotel in Gaza and profit from the Presidency.
He is the world’s best troll. He even trolled Alex Berenson who fell for it. Come on, Alex. Think with your brain not emotion.
WHY don't we want our president to "perform?" Or we can keep the nonperformance art we've lived through for decades. You people need to take a pill.
Brother, I thought you are smarter than MSM, can't you just wait a little longer? He is distracting the radical left in a thousand different ways so that he can get his things done. Let the bullet fly a little longer!
Option 2! He’s always negotiating….(the Art of the Deal) not sure what’s right but maybe we need to think outside the box on this conflict?
A literal master in negotiating...puts it OUT there and gets people to actually react and have to make their own chess move.
Alex once again demonstrating he doesn't understand Trump at all... Disappointing.
