I can’t think of a bigger “threat to democracy” than using baseless lawfare to go after a presidential candidate…

Expand full comment

To Democrat strategists, the greatest threat to Democracy is voters.

Time for a Stalin quote: "It’s not who votes that counts," Stalin supposedly said. "It’s who counts the votes."

At the expense of taxpayers.

And RFK Jr is the cherry on top of the D's showing the world who they really are.

Expand full comment

They were afraid that giving Bobby a fair shot would lead to the party nominating someone other than the senile menace in the White House.

Expand full comment

The senile menace was always a useful puppet and why he was placed into the WH. A puppet will do what it's told by it's puppeteers

Expand full comment

They were afraid that he would dismantle the deep state and avenge his father and uncle. Which is why he would easily win a fair primary and maybe beat Trump.

Expand full comment

The senile menace is a useful idiot right now because he can be easily manipulated and told what to do and say by those who are really making all the decisions. In no way could I ever believe Biden is actually in charge. I'm old enough to have observed him since he first got elected over 50 years ago, and he is not nor has he ever been smart enough to run anything, much less our government and the free world. Those really running things are the ones who want to make sure no one else challenges Biden.

Expand full comment

There is a side effect. I don't like Trump, but I will vote for him this November as a protest against lawfare. I think a lot of people will.

Expand full comment

I voted for Hillary in 2016, the libertarian candidate in 2020 and I will proudly punch the ticket for Trump this year. The hijacking of this country has come from one place and one place only, the left! You don't have to like Trump the man to pull the ticket. You only have to know we are far far worse off under Biden than we ever were under Trump.

Expand full comment

Thank you. I know many who won't admit we were better off under Trump. You'd think their weekly grocery shopping trips would be enough to make them abandon Biden.

Expand full comment

Geezus, you voted for Hillary?

Expand full comment

Yeah I know….

Expand full comment

Thank you. I pray there are many more like you.

Tell all that to Alex, who still steadfastly refuses to vote for Trump.

Trump was my 18th choice of the 17 GOP primary candidates in 2016, so there's no love lost for him here.

But anyone who doesn't vote for him in November has SFB, has TDS, hates America, and is aiding and abetting Her destruction.

That includes YOU, Alex.

If it doesn't already exist, I'm starting "Liberal Democrats for Trump".

LOL!

Expand full comment

I think you are correct. I’ve never voted for Trump, but if he is convicted or jailed I will likely vote for him this year. He sure was better than Biden.

Vote against third world, banana republic authoritarianism.

Save the Constitution while (if) it is still possible.

Expand full comment

I don't think it's still possible. It's been 20+ years since the Unpatriot Act, an assault on the Constitution if there ever was one.

Expand full comment

I'm voting whether it's possible or not. At least then we can make the establishment expend valuable political capital stealing another election.

Expand full comment

I hope a lot of people love their country more than they dislike Trump, and vote accordingly in November. Biden is all for aiding Ukraine ($160B including the latest package), Taiwan and even Israel, a country half his party hates, but he's totally disinterested in protecting the US.

The open borders is what frosts me. It's a Koch Brothers scheme to destroy American labor.

Expand full comment

Yes, the Koch's have always supported open borders for cheap labor. It's also a new batch of Democrat voters.

You mean another batch of bodies so they can assign blank ballots to be filled out by DNC operatives.

I was thinking they would give them the right to vote but your way is easier.

And less risky. Their beloved 'migrants' aren't down with the woke agenda. Given a choice, they might vote for Trump.

Expand full comment

That's exactly what candidate Bernie Sanders said...then he later became possessed by an evil Demo Party twin

Expand full comment

I remember him saying it. I should probably have given him credit.

Expand full comment

Danno, true. It's also why Cali is now bluer than blue. When he put in new immigration legislation in 1965, Ted Kennedy said that opening up the US to more immigration, and from countries other than Germany, Italy, etc. etc. "Has nothing to do with establishing different voting patterns". Therefore it had almost everything to do with establishing different voting patterns. Isn't it weird how Democrats are never too keen about taking in, say, Cubans.

Encouraging to SEE a typical average DEM voter SEEING what is actually happening and NOT what the "elite" media tells you is happening.

Expand full comment

Electing Trump again is NOT an unknown risk. He was President for 4 years, after all. At this point in time, the true risk is in not re-electing him. If you think otherwise, I invite everyone to come study California's government in action. It would be eye-opening for a lot of people who ignore the importance of having opposing opinions in government. One party, one opinion quickly becomes tyranny.

I hope you have the chance too

In 2022, Alvin Bragg reduced 52% of all felony charges to a misdemeanor. In 2023, he then elevated a misdemeanor to a felony that both the DOJ and his predecessor refused to go after so he could indict the Republican nominee for president.

Democrats have decided to sacrifice higher-order values in order to engage in blatantly political selective prosecutions, and this should worry fair-minded people regardless of political persuasion.

I wrote about the shameful lawfare of Letitia James and Arthur Engoron here:

https://www.euphoricrecall.net/p/the-shameful-lawfare-of-letitia-james

Expand full comment

there is consistency if you assume that Bragg thinks that the real criminals in society are those that follow the law (white collar types who use the system to their advantage) versus those that break the law (victims of injustice.)

ITs not what I believe, but its what our elite believes (until they get mugged.)

Great article. Why wasn't Hillary Clinton charged with the same crime? She paid Perkins Coie, a law firm for "legal services" when in fact it was simply procuring the Steele Dossier from Fusion GPS who got it from Christopher Steele (a foreign spy by the way). The FEC actually fined Clinton $113,000 so there is an actual predicate charge. Oh and Hillary is a New Yorker (like it or not as a former NYer myself) so she is subject to the jurisdiction. And I think calling it lawfare obscures the truth and implies a legitimate albeit excessive use of prosecution. This is not that, it is corruption and abuse of power.

The feigned candor and concern that Hillary expresses about our Democracy being threatened by Trump… she’s either an award winning actor or a complete psychopath…..

Closer to the latter I think!

I say psychopath. She has the "crazy eyes".

I'd say Hillary is the latter.

There's actually not a huge downside to bringing a similar case against Hillary for the appearances of fairness other than the obvious folly of taking on a mass-murderer.

this bullshit kinda makes you want to vote for him just to fuck them over. i see old friends, actual people i worked with in NYC, cheering "yay! seize his assets." ok, how will you feel when they seize yours?

they are willing to commit any miscarriage of justice to imprison someone because they were told that they shouldn't like him. he never did anything to them. in fact, some of the people i know worked with him, were invited to his wedding (to marla), and were happy enough to ride his coattails. the moment he ran for president, he became the devil.

now they cheer as the legal groundwork that will soon be used to impoverish them is tried out on someone they loathe for reasons unknown. we are no longer a country of laws and that's really scary.

Trump won in 2016 based on similar sentiment. Then it was limited to flyover country. Now it's everywhere.

Total corruption in America

Expand full comment

I spent over a decade working in corrupt Middle Eastern countries. I saw blatant corruption up close and personal, and it was everywhere. Everyone knew about it and everyone expected it. Little did I know, what is going on in the U.S. (and what probably has been going on for longer than most of us realize) is actually worse than what I saw in the third world countries I was in. This has been a hard reality for me to swallow.

This is lawfare. Most of us are giving up hope. I know that is what they want, but it is looking like they will get it which is even more depressing.

Frederick Douglass once opined that civil society depends on three boxes: The ballot box, the jury box, and the cartridge box. The democrats/deep state made sure we lost the first box within the last decade and now have made sure we have now thoroughly lost the second box. We are down the third box in whatever form it is going to show itself, sadly.

No, but it'll come out in court transcripts, which real journalists like our friend Alex will then report. And good luck holding back the tide of expose on X and Truth et. al.

Your country is doomed. One of the key tenets of the rule of law is proportionality when it comes to sentencing for crimes. In NYC you can be an illegal alien and rape and pillage and get bailed and probably never see a court again, or you can be Trump and maybe go to jail for nothing.

USA is worse than a banana republic.

I realized years ago that the mainstream media was fully on board with doing the bidding of government, big tech, and big business and that means they can get away with anything. As for the legal issues, I don't have the knowledge to get too far into the details, but it really doesn't matter because I only consider one thing and that is equal treatment. Clearly there is no equal treatment to be found in any of these situations. With a functional media, these actions would have been stopped in their tracks, but again with activists masquerading as journalists they can easily get away with it and much worse.
