I really had to laugh when I read the part about the elderly and flu vaccines. We had this discussion this morning with my dad. About 15 years ago he started taking the flu shot. Since then he says, he never had the flu nor a cold ! Even the doctor tried several times to tell him the shot does nothing for the cold, it is an entirely different illness. Then I asked him how often he remembered to have the flu before he got the shots. Never. He never had the flu. But he takes the dangerous shots.... I am 64 and hope to stay away from any shots. I also hope I will remember this sentence in 20 years from now if still alive.

I just read an article from Mercola about a big pharma insider saying they do not work anyway, just a source of revenue. This is such a crock of lies. Sometimes I feel like I am living in an alternate universe. Who do you trust anymore? My gut instincts methinks!

Expand full comment

Who do you trust? The question of our time. Eric Weinstein proposed this as an alternative to leftist vs conservative in understanding our current differences. I find it works. One aspect is the trusters don’t like/aren’t interested/reject discussion, while the non-trusters have endless questions/skepticism. The latter is closer to the practice of science when I was in college 55 years ago. (Anti-)social media has two engines, the obvious power to obscure, compel, conceal, and cancel but another to reveal the incompetence and corruption in all our institutions. I am now as I was in Berkeley in 1964, a nearly complete Non Truster. Interesting times.

I'm with you Douglas. I too was on campus in the 60's & in 70 when Kent State happened. We questioned everything & especially the government. Later I taught science & math; later still was a technology executive. I understand both science and logic. What I cannot understand is how seemingly intelligent people can listen and obey without questioning either the science or the logic in all this. Just bewildering.

We should be able to find trustworthy guides in our lives, and I think they exist. It seems in today’s culture we have a tendency to elevate those guides to hero status, listening to them in areas beyond their expertise, and then are dismayed when they fail. All our heroes are fallen. That doesn’t mean we can’t trust and learn from them. But we fail when we abandon our reason and trust blindly.

You fail when you forget whose responsible for the decision you make, regardless how you come to it... you are.

While I don’t trust any I certainly value and follow some for information and perspective. As you say, the expiry period for heroes is 15 Warhol units of time. We have data, we have information, we have knowledge, we have analytics, we need wisdom. Reagan put it well — trust, but verify.

Gerrt VDB brought up a critical point recently- the establishment tends to be highly specialized whereas the complexities we’re facing require knowledge from several disciplines to chart effective policy. “Experts” also tend to be insulated from the real world consequences of their decision making. Of course there’s a darker side w the capture of public health agencies, scientific institutions & officials by corporate interests, but this at least explains the more well-meaning types just making really dumb calls.

"...we have a tendency to elevate those guides to hero status, listening to them in areas beyond their expertise..." I don't think this could be said any better, and the opposite is also true: a complete dismissal of those who are not our heroes and finding them unable to offer any truths at all. All we have to do is look at the last few presidents to find evidence of this.

But, then there's the obesity epidemic and all the havoc that has caused for our health. Look at pictures from the sixties and early seventies, hardly a fatty to be seen. Now it's one obese slob after another, all claiming they're beautiful and healthy no matter what. Of course they're delusional, but who's to blame? The FDA still insists that saturated fat should be avoided, salt severely limited, carbs are OK, and sugar's still good if you don't "eat too much" of it. The AHA is bought and paid for by manufacturers who want to keep selling junk food, the American Diabetes Association is still pushing carbs as part of a healthy diet for diabetics.

Modern nutrition research has debunked most of this crap, particularly the "saturated fat/cholesterol heart disease hypothesis," but you would never know it. It's as if Ancel Keys, the Fauchi of his day, is still telling the FDA what to push on an unsuspecting public.

People in power "learn" something, and then refuse to look at it ever again. It's too much trouble to keep up, so they just go with the flow. Just follow the policy, because even if they know the policy is wrong, they can't be faulted for following it. Hence, remdesivir, ventilators, and face masks.

So true, there were hardly any fat kids, hardly any diabetics and not one peanut allergy.

Yes, autism was very rare but hey, vaccines are supposedly innocent of having any connection to that right? 1st post...What an awesome thread. Questioners, yeah! I just wanted to respond to the obesity epidemic. Ray Peat is an elder epidemiologist and has research links ad infinitum to PUFA's and their history in our diet beginning with the end of seed oils used in paints ~1945. Mega/corporate farming found a new niche for seed oils-Fattening animals, swine mostly. There is so much wrong-toxic in the dosages of seed oils in the human diet today. Carbs are one thing Saturated fat is what humans burn, cleanly. Poly fats cause dozens of diseases. Just aside. We are still getting through the fat scandal. See raypeat.com. gil@skipleyfarm

Expand full comment

This is so spot on. Also, check out Dr. Michael Eades. He has taken a deep dive into just how PUFA's affect our fat cells vs saturated fat. If you're into some basic biochemistry, you'll love it.

Expand full comment

Totally correct. And "Doctors" are still trying to frighten people away from low carb higher fat eating habits. They won't let go. As far as insulin resistance/obesity/type II, don't forget the devastating role that PUFA's have played in all of this. Since the 70's our food supply has been deluged with cheap, industrially processed polyunsaturated vegetable oils. Metabolically, this stuff opens our fat cells up for unlimited storage. Whereas saturated animal fat limits how fat we actually can get. And PUFAs are dangerously pro inflammatory. Inflammation is the underpinning of virtually all metabolic disease. Yet this is what modern medicine is still pushing. Thus forcing the majority of the population onto statins, ace inhibitors and metformin. It's crazy. The parallel to the approach to the Covid pandemic is terrifying.

Expand full comment

No current medical science actually has done the opposite-- created more chronic conditions. The data that current" science uses re : polio, smallpox etc. does not accurately depict what changed leaving us living longer. Ask the Romans and Greeks, hygiene-- waste removal, water control and food storage and prep. It was never vaccines.

Expand full comment

Exactly. In fact, the vaccine medical complex and its adherence need to answer for WHY chronic illnesses and diseases like juvenile diabetes, obesity, allergies, autism all shot up right around the time we began adding to the list of vaccines in infants. It's no longer acceptable to hear them squawk about 'settled science'. Them saying 'we don't know but it's not the vaccines' is utter bollocks. Are you not the damn experts? Then find them. I want answers. I feel like Michael Corleone when he entered Carlo's house and said, "You haver to answer for Santino, Carlo' and Carlo's subsequent meek, knowing he was busted, response about getting it all wrong. Explain yourselves and please no Offits and Plotnicks who are knee deep in conflicts of interest. They can offer their opinions but they're not to be the final arbiters. Oh polio.. like @Jules P pointed out, man, Polio is one of their best grand deceptions that vaccines were the miracle to stop it, when if you take the time to investigate competently and sceptically, you find right around the time those shots came out, there was a significant increase in proper hygiene and yet we are told it was the shots, not the increased hygiene that "stopped" Polio. I encourage you to check these out as well;

Also, these "savior vaccines" all appeared after the epidemics were over. The vax pushers always claim that the disease their vaccine is claimed to protect against is an incurable disease. Dr. Frederick Klenner had already demonstrated that polio could be cured with IV Ascorbate protocols.

The vaxxers claim that there is no treatment. They lie routinely.

Yes polio spreads via the fecal-oral route, hygiene is key and it makes you wonder how so many people caught it!

Expand full comment

No vaccine in history has ever worked.

They simply appear to have done so because doctors typically refuse to diagnose/test for the condition if the patient is vaccinated (a phenomenon that is actually exacerbated by lab testing (because we *require* lab confirmation today but we didn't before their vaccines came out)).

The diseases have therefore been renamed not reduced.

To illustrate, paralysis rates have increased since the polio vaccine. Polio is now called GBS, MS, etc.

Congenital defect rates have increased since the rubella vaccine. Measles and rubella are now called roseola, 5th disease, hand foot and mouth.

Liver cancer rates have increased since the hepatitis b vaccine. Hep B is called Hep C, D.

Sterility rates have increased since the mumps vaccine. Mumps = parotitis.

Invasive disease rates have increased since the various meningitis vaccines.

I am a school social worker,I watched as my age group came out of the 60's. Our generation resented our parents and when we became parents were terrified of being blamed as we blamed our parents for our misdeeds and wild ways in the 60's. We were determined to do everything right so we read the books by so called experts, ran to the doctors and mental health professionals for advice basically turning our children over to them. We then created a generation who can't think for themselves and want a playbook for life. So how can anyone be surprised that they believe "science" as gospel. They do not think for themselves for fear of making mistakes and not being perfect. If they follow others and it goes wrong, well it was the experts fault not their fault.

In light of this so called cancel culture where all mistakes are punished not learned from, you can understand their fear but it makes for a pretty depressing life.

And, yes, this “system of cultural power” has been decades in the making—inch by inch.

I would hesitate to even use the word capitalism… monopolistic, kleptocratic corporatism, cronyism, fascism? Capitalism breaks when people stop voting with their money. Yes the wolves need to be muzzled and the sheep hit over the head, hahaha. I'm in Canada, from what i know, America was better as a republic before the Americans got conned into a democracy. Your last sentence has truth, but like the Lord taught in the Scriptures;

2 Chronicles 7:14

"If my people (His true believers), which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land."

That's how things could be saved by i'm saddened by how your nation and my nation and the West, has been and continues to increase in being turned deliberately into such moral corrosion, corruption, decay, degeneration, lawlessness, perversion and rot by the powers that be, and so many that allowed it, in my perspective based on the Scriptures, now is the time to get on the Ark (symbolic for getting right with the authentic austere Jesus the Christ of the Scriptures) because the a flood is coming and few shall be saved. Consider this;

"More than half a century ago, while I was still a child, I recall hearing a number of older people offer the following explanation for the great disasters that had befallen Russia: “Men have forgotten God; that’s why all this has happened.” Since then I have spent well-nigh 50 years working on the history of our Revolution; in the process I have read hundreds of books, collected hundreds of personal testimonies, and have already contributed eight volumes of my own toward the effort of clearing away the rubble left by that upheaval. But if I were asked today to formulate as concisely as possible the main cause of the ruinous Revolution that swallowed up some 60 million of our people, I could not put it more accurately than to repeat: “Men have forgotten God; that’s why all this has happened.”"- Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn [excerpt from 1983 Templeton Address]

“Ownership of the media is always in the hands of the perpetrators.” - Alexander Solzhenitsyn

Here's something else to take note of which i STRONGLY urge those who read this message, to consider quite strongly, the below excerpt (link for the excerpt is provided further below);

-

"How the communist plan to overthrow America from within is being prosecuted:

In his best-selling book “The Naked Communist,” former FBI Special Agent W. Cleon Skousen revealed the 45 communist goals to overthrow America, not by a foreign invasion, but via stealth, infiltration and deception carried out by American citizens who have quietly moved to the side of the hammer and sickle. As you read the following partial list of those goals, ask yourself which political party most closely aligns itself with these profoundly un-American objectives.

.....In one of his most revealing quotes, Lenin said, “The goal of socialism is communism.” The idea that creeping socialism should precede outright communism is an acknowledgment that totalitarian rule is so frightening to people in free nations that it must be quietly slipped into those societies in bits and pieces. It is through that incremental process that socialism serves as an under-the-radar, transitional gateway to the unrelenting oppression of full-blown communism.

Gramsci’s stratagem is reflected in one of his most pertinent quotes: “Socialism will triumph by first capturing the culture via infiltration of schools, universities, churches and the media.”

Gramsci theorized that what holds a capitalist society together are the pillars of its culture, the structures and institutions of family, religion, education, politics, law, the arts, and the media, as they provide the social cohesion necessary to a functioning society. Undermine the principles that these cultural institutions embody, and a capitalist society can be overthrown from within without firing a shot."... - canadafreepress.com/article/the-communist-plan-to-overthrow-america-from-within

Here's something else;

Norman Mattoon Thomas (November 20, 1884 – December 19, 1968) was a leading American socialist, pacifist, and six-time presidential candidate for the Socialist Party of America. Norman Thomas said this in a 1944 speech: “The American people will never knowingly adopt socialism. But, under the name of ‘liberalism,’ they will adopt every fragment of the socialist program, until one day America will be a socialist nation, without knowing how it happened.” He went on to say: “I no longer need to run as a Presidential Candidate for the Socialist Party. The Democratic Party has adopted our platform.”

I did a quick google and just about half of MDs are NOT in private practice in the USA. At first that sounds promising, but I suspect that more of the MDs even those with their own offices, still are beholden to some degree to The System. Hospital admitting or practicing privileges. Risk of censure or license suspension by Board of Health or other license-granting (and revoking) authority. Reportedly, even writing the "wrong" prescriptions can get them in trouble in some States and countries.

Right. I’m in Maine and pretty much everything here is “Maine Health.” Very, very few docs in private practice. Big inroads in Charleston, SC, area too, especially in pediatric and family practice. Docs are also paid for using industry products—from surgical stuff to vaccines. It’s just…corrupt. In the end, as you say, docs are no longer reliable narrators because if they don’t tow the line, they are punished, as you note.

Back in the good old days we trusted simple observations. That went not just for medicine but life in general. We didn't rely on and obsess about 'peer reviewed'. We trusted our instincts and exercised critical thinking skills. It's plain apparent the vaccines are nothing but a bilk of junk. They remind me of products you impulsively buy advertised on TV. They work for a time and then.....Poo-tee-wwet? No different with the vaccines. They never had a chance and now we're entering the 'Chase that variant' phase with the vaccines. The hubris and stupidity of man thinking they can outwit a virus that's 2.5 billion years old, Mother Nature AND God combined! Salk thought he vaccines could improve immunity and we see the same thing today whenever quacks (you heard me) say even if you had Covid take the shot because "extra primo crispy protection!" Worse, the head of some paediatrician association Lee Beers said this applies to children as well! Let's take a kid whose immunity bashes Covid, recovers and give them a jab. Yeh, sounds like a plan. She walks 5 miles, 3 days a week, works out in the gym 2 days and plays water volleyball too. She has had intestinal issues in the last few years. I told/begged her not to get the vaccine. She got the first shot anyway without telling any of us. Moderna. Short version. Hospitalized for 4 weeks with unknown illness. Finally did exploratory surgery because nothing else worked. A hernia wrapped around her lower intestine was removed. She is back to normal now. I told her if she got the 2nd shot or the booster I would personally do some damage (joking). After that I never was seriously ill again (I thank God). I also did not take any flu shots after that either. 2 weeks later my 8 yo son got it and he was also extremely ill, but bounced back quicker. My Mom didn't even get a sniffles! My good old GP told me then that I would have long-lasting immunity that I could trust as would my son. Is vaccine testing any saner? When testing a vaccine, it is unethical to "challenge" a subject with the actual pathogen. I can understand that; it might make him ill or even kill him. How, then, can they possibly test the efficacy of a vaccine? I'll admit I'm not sure, but it seems to me they have little option but the watch the test group for say, six months, and see how many people catch a disease, and then compare results with the control group. This seems a rather imprecise way. Now, we can agree that the Covid-19 virus was circulating, so perhaps that makes the test have some validity. But to me, it seems only a bit sounder than if they were testing a vaccine against Ebola -- which to my knowledge, doesn't exist at all in the USA. If no one catches Ebola, can they then conclude that the vaccine provides perfect protection?

Yes, I worked in a hospital for 30 years. I never got the flu shot because they never claimed to give 100% prevention. One year was only 25% effective. I always feel that vaccines destroy peoples' immunity and never got any but polio, Rubella, and smallpox when I entered kindergarten. My health is fantastic. I feel if I had jumped to receive every vaccine offered, I'd be fighting all kinds of diseases because the shots destroyed immunity. There are also studies showing that vaccines are the reason so many people are getting cancer. I believe it.

This won't floormat as it's a Kindle book The corporations and their paid supporters claim that Tamiflu, their flu treatment, decreases symptoms and prevents complications such as pneumonia. But the best estimate of benefit is that it may save a half-day of sickness per individual per dose when prescribed immediately after the start of symptoms. This is nearly impossible. The FDA's longstanding opinion is that Tamiflu did not affect complications, hospital admissions, or survival. It prohibited the manufacturer from making these claims. A 2014 Cochrane review concluded the drug was worthless. They included many studies not sponsored by industry. Two meta-analyses said risks were higher than the benefits. Within a day of getting the drug, panic attacks, delusions, convulsions, and even suicide have been reported. Complete information is scarce, however. Study data withheld by the manufacturer would reveal the entire truth, but so far, there have been no legal challenges to get it. Industry sources, including John Bell (Professor of Medicine at Oxford), stonewalled Cochrane’s requests for access to Roche's unpublished Tamiflu studies. He was on the board of directors for Roche, and they paid him €322,450 in 2011. Well-referenced reviews in the Huff Post and the Atlantic report that Tamiflu does not decrease the chances of pneumonia or other severe illnesses. They also describe the obscene marketing—or rather mongering—by Hoffmann-La Roche and the Centers for Disease Control (CDC). Despite all this, the medication had $18 billion in sales (2017). The US, Britain, and other countries were somehow cajoled into stockpiling billions of dollars’ worth. The CDC itself is compromised by millions of dollars in pharmaceutical company donations. They claim, however: “Our planners and our content experts wish to disclose they have no financial interests or other relationships with the manufacturers of commercial products… [the] CDC does not accept commercial support.” Stephen A. Sheller, a Philadelphia lawyer, said “The CDC is a disgrace. It is a corrupt organization… the drug companies have them on their payroll." Their leaders go back and forth between their government and industry jobs and buy industry stock while they are working for the Agency. The label scamiflu instead of Tamiflu went viral on the Internet. A UK National Health Service analysis (2014) agreed: “The modest benefits of Tamiflu… do not justify the increased adverse risks, let alone the money spent on them.” The WHO belatedly removed Tamiflu from their essential medications list in 2017. The flu vaccine, just like Tamiflu, supposedly prevents pneumonia and other serious problems for those who are old or sick. Cochrane had grave doubts about this, however. They reviewed 90 flu vaccination studies and considered less than 10 percent of them decent science. Industry primarily funded the trials. Cochrane said: Inactivated vaccines can reduce the proportion of healthy adults (including pregnant women) who have influenza and influenza-like-illness, but their impact is modest. We are uncertain about the effects of inactivated vaccines on working days lost or severe complications of influenza during the flu season. Despite this, the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) recommends the vaccine for nearly everyone and the World Health Organization (WHO) recommends it for vulnerable groups. Many hospitals shame nurses who refuse to get vaccinated into wearing surgical face masks, and a few even get fired. This is a $4 billion industry worldwide, and $1.6 billion is spent in the US.

Flu shots are fraught with problems, not the least of which is the fact that the vax makers have to make a guess as to which strains will be active in a particular flu season. Naturally, their guesses are often wrong. The flu vaccines produced don't end up matching the flu strain that becomes dominant. In such a case, you're just taking a risk on side effects for no possible benefit. I've never had a flu shot and I ain't gonna start now.

Currently reading RFK Jr's new book about Fauci (while I wait for Plandemia which I received shipping notice this morning - finally!!). Everyone needs to read RFK's book...it does an outstanding job explaining how Fauci has been (and is currently?) able to set up trials so they either succeed or fail based solely on how it benefits him. It'll make sick and angry that this has been "allowed" to continue for over 40 years.

Here's my trouble with reading the book. I am already decided on Fauci. In only the last year, he has committed abundant capital crimes in plain view that justify a capital sentence. What is there to gain from studying his preceding decades of evil? One does not need to read "Dr. Mengele: The Early Years" to understand that late-career Dr. Mengele needed to hang.

We all have a LOT of studying to do in the short time we have available. Time spent reading the biography of a psychopath is time we could have spent researching strategies for health, counteracting tyranny, and making positive contributions at work and at home.

If you've read the book and feel otherwise, I'd like to know why.

The court of public opinion matters more than one can say. Books like he Jungle and Uncle Tom's cabin were, to use a cliché, game-changers. You might not want or need to read the book, but it's an extremely important document, that like termites on wood, will eat away his reputation and expose his crimes. I can think of nothing more important. Who wants to take the advice of a criminal and a man who, among other things oversaw the use of young black orphans as guinea pigs in "medical" trials. RFK exposes the STRUCTURE that Fauci is the head of. He didn't create it by himself, it is a world wide corrupt system. EVERY major research University is beholdened to his funding and structure. Most of his funding comes through his groups funding but an increasing part comes through the MIC in the US.-- the bio-weapon stuff. "Vaccines" are a part of this-- ALL vaccines, not just the bioweapon (COVID19) renamed a vaccine by CDC etc.

As a student of public administration I find it repelling, repugnant, and fascinating

I'm spite of the deliberately opaque public health data. There's only one reason the US, and generally the West, wouldn't have excellent, granular, specific statistics at the ready. Amen. People can nitpick about methodology and confounders but it's all a sideshow. I believe there is a third issue with the data that I didn't see mentioned. The size of vaccinated population is calculated from the number of vaccines administered. The size of the unvaccinated population is calculated from a rough estimate of the total number of people in the UK minus the number of people vaccinated. The size of the unvaccinated population may be completely off.

This is why the loss of the long term control group for the vaccine trials is so obnoxious.

Expand full comment

The definition is also an issue. If the vaccines are killing 30%-40% of those they kill within 2 weeks of the second dose, those deaths, often being attributed to “natural causes,” are falsely increasing the “unvaccinated” death rate. Until the definition is changed back to a sane acknowledgement of if a person got the shot, the data will be crap.

Someone needs to dig into every cardiac or unexpected “natural” death in the UK for a month to determine how skewed the “unvaccinated” group might be by the actually vaccinated but didn’t survive the full 2 weeks post “jab.”

Expand full comment

All data collection now is about falsifying Covid Shot effectiveness; They didn't pick "two weeks" to be Fully Vaccinated by chance; All by Design.

Expand full comment

I think they “picked” the time frame until maximum b-cell antibodies based on blood test. When the shots were clear, very early on, to make one more susceptible to Covid for at least a week afterwards they doubled down so people wouldn’t say it “gave” them Covid (even though that’s semantics - it caused people to get severely ill from Covid who otherwise wouldn’t have). To extend that definition to all-cause mortality was absolutely to hide the data. There is NO reason to categorize a heart attack death 1-week post vaccination as “unvaccinated” except to hide the vaccine deaths. If someone negative for Covid dies 1-week post vaccination then “immunity” to any virus has absolutely nothing to do with the virus, and the definition is clearly meant to hide adverse reactions from the shot.

Expand full comment

Hiding the data is what they are all about right now. What Alex shows in this post that sometimes you can't hide it if you look hard enough

Expand full comment

Exactly

Expand full comment

exactly

Expand full comment

The definition is a HUGE issue. Thats why they keep changing it. They don't care about the control group. People seem to think they want to figure if this works. They don't care, if they did, the CDC?WHO defines wouldn't keep changing, how groups collect and determine their stats (above avg. annual deaths etc.) wouldn't change as they have. They have purposely changed all that goes into data collection so they can hide the (sic) "side effects" of the vaccines. Occasionally in some countries the true trend (ie vaccinated are dying and being hospitalized more than unvaccinated) mistakenly come out-- that is what you are seeing in the UK and Israel stats.

Expand full comment

Is that true for the UK? I thought the UK was actually separating out their fully unvaccinated vs their partially vaccinated vs their two weeks after the last shot groups.

Expand full comment

Casey - I think they do collect that data but it's not presented in their mortality tables like that (at least from the charts I've seen that show hospitalization and death rates per 100k). Just vaxxed vs. Unvaxxed

Maybe someone else will chime in

Expand full comment

I just checked the original data set that was used for the chart. They have four categories: Unvaccinated, Within 21 says of first dose, 21 days after first dose, second dose. So the "vaccinated" category would include anybody who died due to complications from the second dose.

Expand full comment

Casey, I believe (but am not certain) that "vaccinated" means more than two weeks past the second jab.

Expand full comment

I agree. The Covid surveillance report breaks it into categories but they don’t appear to be doing that on all cause mortality reports which aren’t included in the Covid report as only Covid deaths are (not non-Covid deaths).

Expand full comment

And other countries do it differently --hence the data and comparisons to determine a world trend are already tainted. Unusable. That is deliberate.

Expand full comment

Does that apply to non-Covid mortality or just Covid surveillance?

Expand full comment

They are only separating the data for the Covid surveillance report - Covid positive tests, Covid positive hospitalizations, and Covid positive deaths. The Covid surveillance report doesn’t address all cause mortality (that’s another report). That standard report doesn’t break out deaths by vaccination status for all-cause, but the raw data has only 2 categories - vaccinated and unvaccinated. It doesn’t have the Covid report level of data based on vaccination timing (at least not the all cause death data I can find on the UK gov releases).

Expand full comment

This data has a few different vaccine categories that includes the time after the 1st dose and immediately after the 2nd dose. And yes, it looks worse when you add all the vaccinated categories together.

Expand full comment

I'm not 100% certain, so be careful here, but I spent quite a bit of time poring over a few weeks' worth of their "vaccine surveillance" reports. They break out the population by age and "vaccination" status. The only way I could get the numbers to make sense is if "unvaccinated" means everybody who isn't two weeks past their second jab. Because they have categories like "Received one dose (1-20 days before specimen date)" and "Received one dose, ≥21 days before specimen date", you are led to believe that their "Not vaccinated" category means no jabs at all. That had me confused for a long time.

Again, I have no way of being certain, but if this is true (as I believe), then "unvaccinated" includes vaccine-injured people and people who maybe would have died from C19, but the shot got them instead.

Expand full comment

I saw this too. But they appear to be limiting that data to Covid surveillance, not all cause mortality.

Unless they release the raw data for all deaths, and include the time from shots or lack there of, the mortality data is crap when looking to see the impact of getting the shots. The people I know who died from “natural” causes between 40-50 were at incredibly low risk from the virus as all 3 were healthy and active with no underlying health conditions beyond one having mild environmental allergies.

Expand full comment

I totally agree with the criticisms of their data and I believe it's presented disingenuously to push the vaccines, but compared to data (un)available in the U.S. they are the pinnacle of honesty.

Something happens when the calendar says....80 years old! That is really OLD! But, my "healthy as a horse" 83 year old brother-in-law died of a heart attack 2 weeks after having received his 2nd Pfizer shot. Never had any heart problems before. I read the article and several statistical reviews. I think the chart was good to gain attention, and I found the statistical reviews informative (they did find an increase in all cause mortality in the vaccinated, with levels rising, but not to the point they double overall all cause mortality).

Beyond that I now know 3 healthy dads that died since October 1st between the ages of 40-50 (the most recent dropped dead while mountain biking within the last 2 weeks - no accident, just dropped dead. Autopsy in process).

I do think it’s inaccurate to imply the vaccine is causing all cause mortality to be fully double in the vaccinated v unvaccinated group because of the age skewing, which is greater than any underlying co-morbid disease difference. The physiological insinuation is also assumption - personally, the healthier people I know are far more scared of the vaccine, on average, than the less healthy who are terrified of Covid (oddly, even if they have recovered).

What does concern me is the rise in unexplained or cardiac related mortality in the vaccinated group. Even 1 death per 100,000 makes these vaccines very dangerous for the vast majority of the population that faces a lower risk from SARS-cov-2. It also suggest we should be focusing on early treatment, not mass vaccinations correlated to worse population wide outcomes. Most of the actually vulnerable are already dead. Fifty year olds getting early treatment die at lower rates than 1 in 100,000. Even unhealthy 25 year olds with no treatment die at a much lower rate. My true fear is vaccine induced mortality is closer to 1 in 25,000 which is awful. They pulled the H1N1 vaccine within the last decade for causing severe insomnia at similar rates…… and these are actual lives. Human beings who still had lives to lead. Some of them children.

Can you find data with more nuanced age groups? I do appreciate the focus on this stuff. These vaccines are at best simply not working with mass vaccination (this robbing the genuinely elderly of even temporary protection). More likely they are lethal. They don’t need to kill as many people under 65 as auto accidents or overdose deaths to be awful. Graphs showing increased mortality excluding accidental deaths would clearly differentiate the groups, but I find that data hard to find.

They aren’t offering any durable protection, so every death from the vaccines is an unnecessary tragedy - particularly when the deaths occur in someone coerced into taking it to keep a job or remain enrolled in school.

Expand full comment

One of the things they are not considering with myocarditis is the risk of repeated exposure. In response to vaccine hesitancy due to myocarditis the response is that myocarditis is worse from covid, but you may only get covid once in your entire life. Meanwhile you are getting a vaccine every year, twice considering boosters, and now they are suggesting boosters every 3 months. That is 4x a year that you are taking an injection that can cause myocarditis, compared to the risk of getting covid sometime in your lifetime.

Expand full comment

Despite possibilities like the unvaccinated group skewing healthier and younger, doesn't this data definitively disprove the existence of an extremely dangerous virus combined with a highly effective vaccine?

An extremely dangerous virus would significantly increase the mortality in both groups, while a highly effective vaccine would then go and cause a big reduction in mortality in the vaccinated group. But that's not what we're seeing. Please do correct me if there's a flaw in my logic.

Do these numbers exist for previous years? The are plenty of other factors involved of course, but comparing 2019 (no COVID, no vaccine) with 2020 (COVID but no vaccine) and 2021 (COVID and vaccine) would be an interesting start.

Oh dear. I am sorry to learn that I am some kind of vaccine fanatic. This is odd as I am not vaccinated and will not get vaccinated with any of the currently available products. I will go to prison rather than take an mRNA or vector vaccine, and that is now a real possibility in my country.

"They have identified and latched on to ONE complication of using population-level data to judge vaccine effectiveness - the fact that differing rates of uptake by age may make the Covid vaccines seem less effective than they are. "

Your original claim boiled down to "vaccinated die more frequently", and if true that would indicate a problem with vaccine safety, not efficacy. The distinction between efficacy and safety is important. We know the efficacy of the vaccine does not last long. We also know the safety is questionable (but from other data like VAERS, not this data), and that as a result the benefit/risk ratio is low in young people with little to fear from infection, certainly compared to elderly, institutionalised people at high risk of death from infection.

"the two objections effectively cancel each other out "

Not really, because an observation of one effect in one age group has nothing to do with a countervailing effect in another.

The ONS data as broken down by age group is essentially worthless for answering questions about vaccine efficacy and safety. It can only tell us what is going on in terms of overall mortality in that population.

One may even speculate that the age breakdown is done deliberately to obfuscate things and make the data worthless for evaluating any effect (efficacy or safety) of the vaccines. Certainly, in my long experience in this field, the use of a 10-59 years band in any analysis of effect of medicines by age group is unique.

The 4-part series in www.covid-datascience.com, just to cite one example, was thorough and pretty devastating to Alex's arguments, as well as being a clearly superior examination of the data. Alex's response not only sidesteps that riposte, it pretends that the arguments of the ripostes, e.g., Simpson's paradox, don't even exist. I think better of Alex than to believe he's traded in intellectual honesty for having a loyal following; those shouldn't be mutually exclusive. The very simple truth here is that people who understand data far better than he does, reach different conclusions, and can demonstrate his errors. He'd be more credible just deferring on this one.

Couldn’t agree more. We have to be careful or we’ll just see what we want to see, much like the covidians who see death lurking behind every unmasked face.

I know that Covid is nothing to worry about for most people.

I know the vaccines are neither safe nor effective.

I want hard evidence of that ... something irrefutable so this madness can end.

I too want hard evidence, but I realize we NEVER get that in any area using human beings to define, collect and measure things they have bias about or interests $ in.

What is notable is that Alex doesn't engage directly with critics or critiques. Instead, he throws out this kind of un-interrogated red meat to a mostly adoring readership who will, in the vast majority, merely accept his conclusions uncritically. The irony here is that kind of behavior exactly mirrors the behaviors he criticizes from the medical establishment. He throws out a vague conflation of correlation with causation under an umbrella of "just asking questions" under a cover plausible deniability - and then selectively cherry-picks snippets of criticism so as to support pre-conceived counterarguments. Then he boastfully touts his own "expertise" as some kind of appeal to his own authority. It's a toxic mix, and not at all what we need as a way to wade through the vast amount of information being poured out in our direction. Unfortunately, with Alex it's more about Alex then anything else.

Your original claim boiled down to "vaccinated die more frequently", and if true that would indicate a problem with vaccine safety, not efficacy. Not necessarily-- not sure how you feel this is indicated. Measurement? no questions about how that is done?

What do we care about in terms of vaccine efficacy? We care about keeping people out of coffins. People in the age group 10-59 do die of coronavirus infection, but so few of them do that a vaccine signal simply cannot turn up in that group.

You can measure vaccine efficacy in terms of self-reported infection as was done in the clinical trials, but this is at best a surrogate endpoint for the clinically relevant endpoint of death.

Absolutely. It is almost unthinkable how badly our reaction has been. Preventing actual loss of life should have been the focus. Successful treatment strategies (such as Drs. Correlation to obesity, vitamin D deficiency, etc. should have been common knowledge by spring 2020. When this didn't happen, we gave our 3 letter agencies the benefit of the doubt for "winging it" for a while but over time, bureaucratic incompetence could no longer explain what we witnessed.

It is beyond a travesty to let the vulnerable languish for a false panacea in the "vaccine" and to rob real life experience to the vast majority, young thru middle age, with a 99.7% or better chance of survival. The level of mass delusion ("mass formation?") is stunning. But we will survive this darkest of times. It is in our nature and cannot be injected out.

Nothing scares fearful people more than death--even if it is more remote for them than winning a lottery 🙄

That's probably true for most people, but not for me. I have no fear whatsoever of death, nor of dying, which is not the same thing, though obviously related. I honestly can't remember ever having been afraid of death, but I certainly have no fear of it now that I've been very close to it several times during my lifetime. (I'm 65.)

Each of the several times I was near death, or else was miraculously gifted with a brief experience of Higher Reality, I was disappointed when I realized I had to come back to my body and stay here on earth for longer. I’m ready to die at any time, and have been for many years.

The reality we experience while living in our human bodies is insubstantial and insipid compared to the higher reality we return to when we die. If what we experience here on earth is "real," then what we experience once we're finally fully out of our bodies is "hyper-real." I've experienced this. It's as different as night is from day.

I’ve been looking at the obituary pages in my local paper lately and I noticed there were several people who died that were in the 40’s to 60’s age range, which is rather strange given that you usually only see the elderly in the obits. 1 of the obits mentioned Covid as cause of death. I would lay money that the person was probably vax’d.

I know 3 healthy fathers that died since October 1 between 40-50. One was thought to have died in a single car accident, but autopsy revealed he was dead prior to impact from an aneurysm. Another died in his sleep. The 3rd one dropped dead mountain biking - no accident, just dropped dead while riding.

Before this year of knew maybe 2 people who just dropped dead under the age of 50 my entire life. This year there were 3 in 7 weeks. That’s terrifying.

That’s for sure. The sad thing is the under the radar stuff they kind of admit to. The swelling might be temporary for all these young men and boys, but the damage is permanent. Decades are being taken off their life, while there quality of life is being destroyed. My husband played soccer in college. I’ve always been an athlete. We are still very active. Having that taken from either of us today would be awful. The thought of having it taken as teenagers or young adults is devastating. It would have destroyed our motivation in life. I can’t believe how indifferent the general public is to the damaging impact on young people, who aren’t at risk from the virus, but are having their quality of life destroyed by these vaccines.

Adults are supposed to protect children. The old are not supposed to demand the sacrifice of the young to appease their fears. It’s all so against the natural order of things. It’s evil.

Alex did you see Mathew Crawford's reanalysis that accounts for population age? It shows precisely zero benefit (so not negative efficacy but obviously still showing a complete failure)

https://roundingtheearth.substack.com/p/uk-data-shows-no-all-cause-mortality

Expand full comment

I read this but the thing missing from all the data, making the data crap, are the people who die from the vaccine less than 2 weeks post second “Jab.” Because these deaths are being inexplicably labeled “natural causes,” and the individuals who die are considered “unvaccinated,” the numbers are skewed.

I hope someone picks a month and digs into every unexplained or cardiac related death in the UK of the under 65 population to see how many are in the “unvaccinated” but actually got 1-2 shots category.

Expand full comment

Are you sure those cases are not rolled into "21 or more days past first dose"?

However I'm not certain whether either of the analyses include the "partial" categories. By rights they belong in the vaccinated category for this analysis. But based on the labels of the graph, I think they are only looking at unvaccinated and 14 days post dose 2 columns.

If this is the case, then surely the corrected analysis WOULD show negative efficacy if those numbers were included.

Expand full comment

Surely Alex knows about Matthew Crawford's article, but he doesn't mention it. I kept looking for Alex to mention "Simpson's Paradox" in this article. I get that a response of sorts is in this article. Different population characteristics prevent direct comparison. But those properly cautious about mRNA vaccines have to be very careful. The chart that went "viral" was misrepresented by those who made it viral. They drew conclusions that were speculative. To your and Matthew Crawdord's point, that is not necessary. Lack of efficacy is enough. No need to leap to negative efficacy. It may be true that there is negative efficacy from mRNA vaccines over medium and longer term. But lack of efficacy is pretty damning at this stage. No need to stretch.

Expand full comment

I agree. The rush to eliminate the control group by the very people who have the only full access to the raw data is what makes me suspicious these deaths are more than qualitative personal observations. The fact deaths are up, be it from the vaccine or the useless mitigation, make clear this stuff is harming, not helping. Mandating a useless vaccine is crazy - like burning young women at the stake or killing kids to (not actually) make it rain.

The rush in NY to cancel surgeries for cancer and nearly everything else, especially considering the nursing home fiasco, makes me more suspicious. It’s not sane to shutdown access to healthcare now for something that may or may not be an issue in 2 months or 3 months or never. That stuff, combined with millions of starvation deaths in poorer countries, and addiction as well as accidental deaths going up in the West, make me very very suspicious that this is an intentional attempt at a mass death.

Destroying an entire generation of US kids with zero evidence of positive effect on a virus, and very far from any evidence it was ever “necessary,” leads me to conclude this is all intentional with each illiberal leftist political entity playing their part in the mob hysteria - no need for direct instruction - the message is clear and the followers are stepping up to do their part with no concern for the final goal, only for the leftist insanity.

The same way the exit from Afghanistan, particularly relating to strategically important Bagram air base with 2 of the most advanced and inexplicably still fully functional runways on the planet, was so far passed incompetent it seems to be outright intentional.

I’m not even sure the end goal, if there ever was one, actually matters. I think it’s just insanity for the sake of “winning” a silly power struggle.

Expand full comment

The is no negative efficacy from mRNA technology (not a vaccine sorry) because there is no medium to long term use to get data from . HOWEVER there is lots of research by Dr. Malone (creator) and other mRNA experts that have shown Prion, Autoimmune, Heart issues are coming.

Expand full comment

Yes there is negative efficiency data - spread increases dramatically once a population reaches a critical mass of vaccinated individuals. The vaccines are fueling spread. That’s negative efficiency.

That shows negative efficiency because if it were natural viral curves you couldn’t predict exactly when the spread in certain areas would occur. Yet many, including Alex, have been. Do was one of the early states to mass vaccinate and have people still intermingle. So was VT which saw the “delta” spread around the same time as FL (though it was mostly ignored). While seasonal patterns impact severity, The UK wouldn’t have preceded its same longitude European neighbors by the exact difference in the time to vaccinate a critical mass to cause increased spread (which is about 3 months). Alex correctly predicted what is happening right now in Western Europe 3 months ago because it was predictable. The first week of November I correctly predicted an disproportionate uptick in kids testing positive for Covid beginning around Thanksgiving. It’s not from being super genius humans - it’s from noticing predictable patterns and saying (or typing) them out loud.

Expand full comment

I should be more clear, it's a little disappointing to me that Alex didn't issue a correction of sorts. I mean, the graph is "true" but also truthfully misleading. It gives pro-vax people something to latch onto that a critical thinking person will correctly see as being a misleading statistic (and the stat doesn't pass the smell test to start with - 2x death rate is impossible to not notice!). Maybe by now we're beyond the point of convincing anyone with data, but it just doesn't seem necessary when a more correct analysis still produces a significant problem.

What? The what would be vaccinating the masses. To whom is lack of efficacy not enough to stop mass vaccination, particularly of the low risk???? Why would one get a useless medication that can only can have downside risk?

Expand full comment

Hi NCmom, I believe many vaccinated people see a significant "lack of efficacy" relative to their expectations; so do many independent data analysts and research scientists in the field and so does Tony Fauci for that matter. Moreover, this lack of efficacy has been more or less evident for quite some time. And yet this evident lack of efficacy has done precisely NOTHING to stop mass vaccination; not of the low risk and not even of the NO risk.

Clearly, lack of efficacy isn't stopping, or even slowing down, the warp-speed vaccine train. So, if this is not the time to talk about negative efficacy and increased overall mortality, when will it be time?

A study of human history and authoritarianism might better explain the situation. Absolutely nothing about the previous administration was authoritarian. Nothing. But squawking about it for 4 years conditioned the large, stupid, and gullible portions of society, which are large, to accept complete authoritarianism from “their” team……….. it’s about compliance, nothing at all to do with a virus.

If the mRNA "vaccines" lack efficacy, then forced vaccination and prohibition of off-label drugs fail. Of course, FDA, CDC and Pharma deny this. But Matthew Crawford's analysis shows this. No need to get to negative efficacy / lack of safety.

That's Alex's focus right now. So no need to go to negative efficacy.

I agree with Steve Kirsch that the mRNA technology is unsafe, but isn't that beyond what Alex has been reporting on?

Expand full comment

Yes, and I don't think Mathew accounts for deaths among "partially vaxed", which would certainly push it into negative territory.

Expand full comment

I did. But without TRUE MEANINGFUL DATA, they are both only doing the best they can. When you put the single dose, double dosed not 14 days out into the unvaxxed category, you have more than just Simpsons paradox. And until they redo the data to account for this, you have to admit no matter what, it needs further investigation. CLOSE investigation by age, properly defined as to vaxed/unvaxxed. And that should be GOAL NUMBER ONE.

Expand full comment

The spreadsheet splits out the data into 4 categories (vax, partial<21d, partial>21d, full) - so I don't think those partial cases are included in "not vaccinated". I think those partial categories are ignored in Alex's chart and in Mathew's analysis also. But I agree that it would be nice to re-do the analysis including the partial categories! And I also agree that UK has this data, they should release a proper analysis or just the raw data listing date of vaccination and/or death and hospitalizations for anonymized individuals.

Expand full comment

But that’s only the data as it relates to Covid. The surveillance reports don’t address non-Covid related mortality. A heart attack 5 days post-op, or 5 months, or with no shots, wouldn’t show up on the Covid surveillance reports.

Expand full comment

In their "vaccine surveillance" weekly reporting, I'm pretty sure unjabbed-at-all would be Total - (partial<21d, partial>21d, full); and that "not vaccinated" is anybody not more than two weeks past their second jab. It's the only way I could get the numbers to make sense. It wouldn't be a stretch to assume that's also the case in the spreadsheet. I'm not 100% certain in either case - I would love to see analyses by a competent statistician.

Unvaccinated 161,418

<21d 9,812

>21d 1,999

Yes, you're right. I haven't looked at that for a while and was going by memory. Sorry about mis-stating that. It's where they show the rates per 100,000 population that the definition of "unvaccinated" changes. Having tables where the numbers clearly add up, as you point out, leads one to believe that "unvaccinated" means exactly that. And it does, until it doesn't.

Incidentally, in the later weekly reports, the rates per 100,000 were moved to a separate table which, intentionally or not, tends to make it even harder to make sense of their data.

Apologies again for getting it wrong.

No worries! We're all trying to figure this stuff out. Actually, I also didn't think that the non-vaxx column for cases/100K was including partial vax.

That’s Covid positive test results for those under 18. Nothing to do with deaths at all. The hospitalizations and deaths on the next pages are only relating to Covid positive people and Covid positive deaths (not all cause mortality).

I thought Dan was referring to the 'vaccine surveillance reports', and saying that the categories in those tables were not disjoint - but they seem to be. They also seem to be disjoint for the all cause spreadsheet tables.

Expand full comment

That’s only relating to Covid deaths, not all cause mortality. If the vaccines are causing heart attacks, it doesn’t show up on that report. Only Covid positive deaths do

Expand full comment

Yes, I agree, I was responding to Dan who said that he thought the unvaccinated column also included the "partials" and the numbers didn't add up in those reports; but when I add them up it seems like the 4 categories are disjoint. I'm assuming they use the same methodology for the all cause mortality spreadsheet. When I add up those numbers, they all sum to approximately the same amount over time, even as the partials vary quite a bit, so I think that in that case also, the 4 categories are disjoint.

Whew. Alex... thanks so much for this. I had posted this study to other comment sections saying pretty much what you summarize:

"Something is wrong. The promises that the health authorities have made over the last 12 months about the vaccines are not coming true. Despite near-complete levels of adult vaccination in Europe, many countries are seeing skyrocketing Covid cases and deaths. And worst of all, all-cause non-Covid mortality is running well above normal in country after country."

And they went nuts!

This says it all:

"These folks think they are sophisticated thinkers who have blown up apparent evidence that the vaccines are dangerous. In fact, just as they have for the last several months, they are telling themselves what they want to hear instead of listening to what the data are saying - and, increasingly, shouting."

I was lambasted with claims like "this is disinformation, you are dangerous and should be censored!"

There is no real intellectual curiosity nor intellectual honesty with the COVID vaccine cult. Not only is it impossible reason with them, but there is really no ability to engage in intellectual debate... no matter how clear is the data challenging their "science".

But here is why I think some of them are so determined to build their fortress of defense. The corporate media is continuing to deliver pandemic propaganda. I don't watch much TV "news", but I do listen to the radio and read newspapers. Biden dollars are also being used for government-paid "public service" advertising. There is a strong and consistent message that pushes this narrative that COVID is dangerous to all and everyone needs to be vaccinated.

Because of this and other dots I can connect, I am convinced that this is a PLANDEMIC and the Billionaire Boys Club, the globalists and the Democrats are all colluding to extend the chaos being caused as the catalyst for their Great Reset "Build Back Better" project. The pandemic gave the American Democrats the mail-in-ballot justification. Without it Trump would still be POTUS and the Senate still in GOP hands... and the Trump anti-globalist project would have made more progress. But the Democrats had failed to get their pet legislation passed (permanent mail-in ballots, immigrants give voting rights, and more massive social spending), and now they are in trouble leading into the mid-terms. So they NEED the pandemic to carry them through the 2022 election at least... so they can again cheat in the election and stuff more reliable Democrat favoring mailed ballots in the box.

I believe we are in WWIII and the pandemic is the new nuclear weapon. Thank God for people like Alex and platforms like Substack. With them we might again defeat the enemy of the world and get back to peace and prosperity.

TV addicts were already starting to show up in stores wearing dust masks and dishwashing gloves, though they were a tiny fraction of the shoppers. Libtards that I knew started bumping elbows with each other instead of shaking hands or hugging.

Once I found info online to read, I saw that the official story was ludicrous, and most of the columnists that I usually read pointed out the absurdities of the official narrative. Jon Rappaport wrote a piece demanding proof of the existence of the "virus" and from that day, none has ever been presented.

It's an imaginary plague and the "vaccines" are bioweapons. I'm going to unsub from this stack because the author buys the whole covid myth and that skews his conclusions. Another stack that I like is https://donaldjeffries.substack.com/

I would vote for Trump again, but that doesn’t mean I’d take medical advice from him. Quoting Trump as to the efficacy of the jab is useless. He isn’t a doctor. He isn’t scouring databases to find data that proves(or disproves) his statement. He is getting information from the same people who are pushing the jab now. He also is pretty arrogant and proud that the jab was developed under his administration in far less time than it was estimated by the so-called experts so he sees that as a win and it is only a win if the jab works. Maybe he is unaware(or was at the time of his statement) that ‘vaccinated’ people do wind up in the hospital and they do die. Or maybe he is ignoring the truth because he wants to be included in the praise for the jab. He got Covid and was given a cocktail of drugs that had him back up and around in a few days. Probably a similar cocktail to what Joe Rogan used. That cocktail should have been widely available to everyone world wide after it was proven effective on an obese man in his mid 70’s(you know, the group most likely to be seriously ill or die from the bug)…

Trump gave us the jab, single-handedly. He also single-handedly gave us perpetual Obamacare, by making illegal subsidy payments for two years (DYOD). I read it. My head is spinning. So as I recall, Geert said in last interview that these numbers will flip. I have seen his projections. It is based on age groups. Vaccinated vs unvaccinated. In short, the unvaccinated was the most in peril, but that trend is reversing and thus by January the vaccinated will be the most in peril. It is because the vaccinated have compromised immune systems from vaccines. Their immune system are slowly degrading. The boosters will make things much worse. The worst part of this is that kids were never in peril, and now we have compromised their immune systems and they have a long life ahead with potential immune disease, or worse death.

The unvaccinated is like the control group. Probably many have acquired immunity by now. Many that took the vaccine probably had virus, never knew it, or knew it and believed more is better meaning vaccines would add more protection.

But clearly you have are a deep capable thinker and you care about this subject. Im grateful to you for your dedication and hard work. Maybe all cause mortality is up because of other underlying problems that were ignored during the worst of the pandemic like cancer, heart issues etc. People delayed and postponed getting routine screenings and other care. So maybe this is all catching up with us now. That could be the explanation. Or is it some delayed effect of the vaccines? I hope you stay on this subject. If the excess deaths are from secondary effects of imposed covid policies well this discredits all the covid policies. If the deaths are from vax delayed effects well then lets start criminal proceedings against those responsible. Either way it doesnt look good for the gov health establishments. What stunned me in this article was the part about vaccinating hospice patients. What the hell? What would be the point of that even IF the shots worked? The person is close to death. Why subject them to any unnecessary medical treatments? The medical establishment is certifiably insane.

Death is a no go area for most people. Somehow quantity of life is more important than quality of life (not to appear insensitive but death is a part of life and IMHO honouring a patient’s wishes and guiding them/being with them in their final days is far more important than taking out the big syringe)

David Sinclair is making good progress. Whether the solutions require chemicals remains to be seen. They have working theories for significant extensions that are working well on mice. Testing those theories on longer lived subjects, like people, takes a lot longer.

Ah yes, I like David Sinclair too and interesting, I should explore the area more. I’m a bit of a purist who, perhaps foolishly, generally sticks to the basics (food, exercise, sleep, mental outlook etc) and believes the body has a greater intelligence (and strives for balance which is why I always worry about taking X or Y since I don’t understand the balancing mechanisms and consequences however low risk)

Expand full comment

Sinclair tells a story of his dentist saying a procedure would be recommended if he was you get, but unnecessary at his age. He said he wants it anyway, he'll need it later. Success in life extension requires that we remain healthy. Think healthspan, not lifespan. With current tech, some chemicals are necessary.

The biggest problem now is aging is not officially a disease, so it's hard to get funding. That seems likely to change soon. Meanwhile, DeGray and others rely on private funds.

The "fact check" complaint about the unvaccinated group skewing toward younger ages with expected lower death rates has an immediate problem.

The unvaccinated rate of deaths from all causes had been gradually declining since the end of January (off the chart to the left).

The UK did not start tracking the corresponding vaccinated death rate until March 19. But when they did start, the vaccinated death rate from all causes for ages 10-59 was lower than the unvaccinated death rate (see the beginning date on the chart).

Then suddenly the vaccinated death rate started going up dramatically at the beginning of April (with no change in the unvaccinated downward trend).

This rise in the vaccinated death rate cannot reasonably be explained by how many teenagers were being vaccinated. There must be some other reason.

A new steady-state has apparently emerged where the vaccinated are dying substantially faster than the unvaccinated. The question is why?

One help would be for these statistics to start being kept for 10-, 5- and 1-year age intervals, so we could tell what age group(s) were driving this phenomenon -- kept in more countries than the UK.

Alex has written a lot of great data analysis during the pandemic, but this is one of the best for sure. The dimwitted fact checkers who just blindly followed the scripts given to them by their masters were pretty pleased with themselves last week when they "indisputably" proved that the data didn't show what it appeared to show. In other words, believe me not your lying eyes. You could almost hear the sound of a mic drop. I had to pause for a moment when I saw that counter analysis, but even before reading what Alex wrote today, I could see that the reasons the so-called fact checkers were giving for the data appearing as it did were mathematically implausible.

What Alex is done today is identify another key issue that has been nagging at me throughout the pandemic. The expert opinions that are being bandied about by the low IQ fact checkers come from people who are probably actual experts in their extremely narrow specialties. One of the big problems we have right now is this move toward ultra reductionism in the biomedical sciences. It's a very interesting phenomenon after a strong push over the past couple of decades to move toward a more holistic, systems-based view of physiology.

It's a perfect example of reductionism, when the people doing the analysis are either unwilling or unable to understand two points of data in relation to each other and can only assess the data in isolation from all other data. As Alex astutely points out, both of the criticisms of the graphs that he presented are factually true in isolation but do not stand up to a more systemic analysis. (See how I did that with the use of the word systemic in the correct context?)

There was that recent abstract where a doctor was monitoring his patients heart vitals, both before and after vaccination, and noticed the vaccine's effect on inflammatory markers.

https://www.ahajournals.org/doi/10.1161/circ.144.suppl_1.10712

I'm wondering how many clinical trials currently in process for other conditions have been impacted by the vaccine. Are they keep tracking of who gets vaccinated as a possible confounder? We may be able get some decent statistics out of closely monitored groups for certain trials, using the "pre-vaccine" cohort of the same people as the control group. But only, I guess, if it's creating issues in the studies and if those running the studies are brave enough to report the results.

Expand full comment

This is an excellent link-- I read this earlier this week. When the AHA says this people need to listen.

Expand full comment

Clinical trial work has not been impacted at all by vaccination, but it has been hugely impacted by the pandemic and associated lockdowns. There have been trials delayed, suspended, recruitment suspended, changes to procedures because patients were unable or unwilling to come for visits. Lockdown ideology is the biggest self-inflicted catastrophe in centuries.

Almost all trials record all concomitant medications, which would include any covid vaccines.

Expand full comment

I am far from a vaccine fanatic, and in fact that is WHY I objected to the conclusion drawn based on the data in last week’s post. The situation is SERIOUS if indeed vaccinated people are dying at higher rates. This means allegations are likely to be completely discounted unless the data is unassailable. Providing data that is easy to invalidate and discredit means people are going to be even more likely to tune it out in future.

As acknowledged, the broad age range of 10-59 is enough to account for the entire disparity. The youngest are both least likely to die from all causes and least likely to be vaccinated--that is just too big a confounder to make meaningful inferences with unadjusted population-level data. No vaccine for a virus with an average 0.23% IFR is powerful enough to overcome a 50-year age advantage in terms of all-cause mortality. If the rates of vaccination were identical at all ages, it would tell us something. Otherwise, it simply can't.

The things I need to see to feel confident about a signal: vaxx vs unvaxx status (ensuring those with just one dose and those not past the 14-day window are not lumped into the unvaxxed category), stratified by age, compared not only to 2020 mortality but the 5-year rolling average (or longer). Also, we cannot randomly compare months, e.g. May versus September without also accounting for normal seasonal variation.

That's when people have a hard time explaining it away. We can't make it easy for them.

Expand full comment

I agree with you that these data are inherently flawed, but I do think that an attempt was made to account for the differences in age in the vaccinated vs unvaccinated populations in the report of the underlying dataset. Quote from the linked report:

Because vaccinations were being offered according to priority groups set out by the Joint Committee on Vaccination and Immunisation (JCVI), the characteristics of the vaccinated and unvaccinated populations are changing over time. To account for differences in population size and age structure of the vaccination status groups over time, we calculated age-standardised mortality rates (ASMRs) for deaths involving coronavirus (COVID-19).

Granted, it's not clear from Berenson's chart how the mortality rate was calculated. I think the y-axis was not labeled.

Expand full comment

Thanks for this, Olivia. I did look at the source report/data but for some reason did not read the above quoted section.

However, it looks like they calculated ASMRs for covid deaths ONLY. Still an issue if we want to discuss all-cause mortality.

But helpful—I will give it some more thought.

There are too many moving parts given age differences in each group, health differences in each group, greater push to vaccinate the elderly and sick early on, the delta variant being more contagious etc…. It’s close to impossible to control for all this.

All we really need is an explanation for the rise in all cause deaths of vaccinated people by age group.

If the explanation makes sense, there is no issue. If it is increased heart attacks, strokes etc..then there’s a problem.

The only difference is that my children are smarter than these folks and learn their lesson the first time.
