How anyone can trust anything our government says or does, at this point, is beyond me.

FFIA : Freedom From Information Act. If you can't see it , it doesn't exist.

No big deal...they know no one is gonna hold them to account

Nothing says "transparency" like completely black pages...

you should demand hard copies. bankrupt them thru toner costs.

Expand full comment

Yes, but it's a government agency--and since we're broke, we'll actually borrow the money from China to pay for the toner. And then same with the postage, covering another bankrupt government agency. At this rate, that expense "might" be paid back with an ungodly amount of interest in about 3-4 generations with interest. (If the dollar or the country lasts that long on the current track. Oh, one other thing: Let's go Brandon!)

I HATE when students do that to the library copier.

That's genius. Too bad hand redacting is not still a thing...

What's the point of the FOIA if they pull this kind of stunt?

They do it because they can...no one holding them to account. They KNOW it.

Exemption 6 under the Freedom of Information Act protects information about individuals in "personnel and medical files and similar files" when the disclosure of such information "would constitute a clearly unwarranted invasion of personal privacy." https://www.justice.gov/sites/default/files/oip/legacy/2014/07/23/exemption6_0.pdf

That exemption would cover the personal medical records of Brad Kimberly - but that is not what you requested. Total bullshit.

As someone who has been filing FOIAs for more than 20 years, suing the EPA twice and FDA once to get them to comply, I can tell you with certainty that our federal agencies no longer even pretend to provide transparency. Exemption 6 doesn't appear to legitimately apply in this case, and even if it does, the redactions would not be whole pages worth, they would be simply names of individuals and/or other identifying information about those individuals. They government is breaking the law when they send you wholly redacted pages like this. I hope you're going to appeal this and or litigate.

The US gov't breaking the law? No way...ignoring immigration law, CDC eviction moratorium, OSHA vax mandate. Our gov't wouldn't break the law, that's just silly.

Well, clearly they believe Black Pages Matter (Inc)! How very woke of them. Weasels! and that's a diss to weasels everywhere.

On day one, Jen Psaki said the Biden Administration would "bring transparency and truth back to government."

How’s that working out?

Transparency? Cue the Beatles: "I'm looking through you, where did you go? I'm looking through you, what did I know?"

Will be interesting to see how/if Brandon addresses that during SOTU
