People think you're joking about the neighbor who won't take off the N95. I truly think some families will wear masks for the rest of their lives.

yep. here in Silicon Valley especially. Wearing them is a badge of honor for many leftists. They don't realize its really just a sign of their mental disorder. kids are needing therapy after they remove them due to extreme anxiety. its frustrating

In the book The Auschwitz Volunteer, author Witold Pilecki writes of Jan Karski who, in 1943, was a courier traveling on behalf of the (Polish) Home Army. Karski came to Washington to tell the American government about the Holocaust. He met with President Roosevelt. He also arranged to see Felix Frankfurter, the great Supreme Court justice and probably the most distinguished Jewish figure in Washington.

"Karski and Frankfurter met at the Polish embassy on 16th Street. They sat on a hard-backed sofa that is still in the embassy today.

"Karski described what he, Pilecki, and others had seen at Auschwitz, in the Warsaw ghetto, and at other Nazi death camps across occupied Poland. He described the systematic elimination of the Jews of Europe by starvation, mass execution, and poison gas. Frankfurter listened to him in silence. Then he got up from the sofa, walked around the room, turned to Karski, and said: 'I AM UNABLE TO BELIEVE YOU.'

"The Polish ambassador, who was present, protested, and said he could vouch for Karski’s honesty. Frankfurter replied: 'I DO NOT SAY THAT THIS YOUNG MAN IS LYING. I SAY THAT I AM UNABLE TO BELIEVE HIM.'"

I'm grateful for your efforts and courage. I only wish we could've saved more lives with what we knew - what I knew in January 2020. I'm sorry that so many were unable to believe us. How very sad for our nation.

I sent a hard copy to my mask-loving older sister for Christmas. Right after I received notice that it was delivered, I got her Christmas letter where she bragged about volunteering at a vax clinic (retired RN). We rarely talk, only text now and then, and she hasn't mentioned the book. I refuse to ask her if she read it, but I wouldn't be surprised if she didn't. Or started it and put it down. She's always been a know-it-all; it's possible she can't handle the truth.

Expand full comment

I have a similar retired nurse sister. She knew but didn't tell us that our comorbidity-laden unvaxxed cousin was in the ICU with covid. Then he died. Only then did ANOTHER cousin share any news.

Still trying to figure out why my liberal family members kept it a secret until it was too late to call or pray or do anything.

Expand full comment

If your late cousin took all the precautions and got covid anyway, it would have gone against The Narrative.

Expand full comment

And thus seeing my unvaxxed cousin die satisfied her.

I saw the Rasmussen survey results from January 2022: 59% of Democrats supported "house arrest" and other punishments for the unvaccinated.

Half of Democrats supported fines or imprisonment for those who publicly question vaccine efficacy.

Despicable.

I find it funny how many people in the medical establishment buy into masks, PCR testing, and the vaxx hook, line & sinker. My conclusion after seeing a large number of these doctors and nurses are that:

1. The majority of them are useful idiots

2. The majority of them work for hospitals and are toeing the company line.

3. The majority of them are intelligent and know how to memorize and regurgitate large amounts of information without ever questioning any of it.

4. The majority of them are so dug in on their beliefs, there's no talking to them

5. The majority of them will never admit they are or ever were wrong.

6. The majority of them still believe that covid is an existential risk to everyone.

7. The majority of them heard in March of 2020 that covid is contagious and deadly and nothing else and have learned very little since then.

8. The majority of them believe that masks work, that the vaxx works, and that all PCR tests are accurate.

9. The majority of them think they know it all and that the rest of us couldn't possibly know because we're not in the healthcare business or because we don't have an MD or RN. (I can still call BS even though I don't have a medical degree).

10. Despite being in the medical field, the majority of them have never actually looked at the data showing the massive age gradient, the futility of masks, the false positives of PCR testing, the horrible data on vaccine side effects and efficacy.

God bless your sister. I doubt she read the book.

I think you're precisely correct. There's something about modern medicine, members of teachers unions and liberals that leads people down Agreed-Upon Paths of Least Resistance.

Each step they take in training and work confirms this is the only way to do things. They develop tunnel vision that's constantly reinforced and they can't imagine they're missing the forest for the trees.

i downloaded the book from Audible and listened to the entire book over one weekend. Then I bought a hard copy to keep for reference. I've recommended it to several people but, alas, these seem to be folks who bought into the vaccine narrative and now don't want to talk about it - at all. I have a vivid recollection of a lunch with several friends, all of whom are highly educated professionals, in March 2021 and being the only one not vaccinated. They had all worked hard to find appointments in January - as early as possible. Everyone was incredulous and a bit worried but I pointed out that I would be the only one at risk - this was before anyone realized that vaccinated folks can both transmit the virus and be sickened by it. Now we just don't talk about it.

It works for particles that are an order of magnitude bigger than the corona virus. Yes it works for bacteria but not for virus sized particles.

John, what is the particle magnitude of the the corona?

Expand full comment

different researchers have had varying results, but the diameter of the virus has been found to range between 50 nm to 140 nm. Whilst N95 masks from different producers may have slightly different specifications, the protective capabilities offered by N95 masks are largely attributed to the masks’ obligation to remove at least 95% of all particles with an average diameter of 300 nm or more (article had misprint of "or less". from : https://www.news-medical.net/health/The-Size-of-SARS-CoV-2-Compared-to-Other-Things.aspx

A properly fitted N95 has shown it is capable of stopping the very tiny Coronavirus particles. But I wouldn't bet my life on it. Literally.

Expand full comment

People don't realize that if they have facial hair, beards, sideburns or a large mustache they can't get an effective seal on an N-95. Pretty ineffective at that point. The vast majority never got a fit test, just slapped a mask on and thought they were protected. Remember when they told us to wash our hands and not touch our eyes, nose or mouth which were effective? Then came along the magic masks and you never hear any more about hand washing or keeping fingers off the face. The later is far more effective than any magic mask on the market. I feel bad for all the people that sewed 1000's of the fabric, homemade masks. They are what, 4% effective? Magic masks do not protect you from the virus yet our kids and grandkids are still being forced to wear them.

Expand full comment

@Oma- Pretty sure you didn't meant this for me, correct? I am defiant when it comes to masks. Last two of husband's cardiology (thanks to the shots) appointments have been in the hospital. I won't wear one but no one has said anything to me. My one dr app't insisted. I said "I thought we were over this" but she explained medical facilities still have to have people wear them. I said "Oh, the irony. A medical facility, loaded with people who should know better, is insisting." Our schools have FINALLY taken them off the students but the Pre-K kids in Headstart where my daughter is a director, is federal so those poor kids and their teachers still have to wear them. She's incensed. And yes, I know most people haven't had a fit test for a N95. That's why I mentioned it to her.

Expand full comment

This infuriated me also. The least likely to be infected. There has never been a legitimate reason to mask children. There is only one reason to do so: to train them that it is normal. This is conditioning the young to accept that they are slaves.

Not so much as stopping but as reducing the number of viral particles, but not to a level of "stopping" more like dropping from 90% to ~70 % so not really much of a benefit.

It’s a choice now in most places(I live in CA not so much). Still it’s really like a short duration flu, sometimes just a cold. So comparing now to say 3 years ago, were you wearing a mask then? You should do what’s comfortable for you. My husband is compromised and got omicron. Strangely, never wore a mask and didn’t get the original or Delta. I went shopping yesterday in NYC and most people aren't wearing a mask (say 40% are). But there's still a few people that had two masks on, a hood over their head, and what looked like a secondary blanket or something around their head under their jacket hood. It's like they completely want to disengage from society and live behind some sort of veil. There's no way that this could be solely about a virus for these people. I think this brought out the OCD and psychosis in a lot of people in our society... mainly out of democrats... as a matter of fact, I don't know any republicans that do this mask insanity.

OK, just because the guy doesn't agree with you on everything doesn't mean his book or his ideas are bad wholesale. I'll buy his book. I'm not sure if ivermectin works and I'm not sure it doesn't work. And I don't think you or anyone else is sure either. Think of it this way, Fauci and the CDC said that the masks are the single best way to control covid-19 and they are completely wrong. There's bad information out there with regard to everything, including ivermectin. Maybe Berenson has that bad information, maybe you're the one with the bad information. I'm not sold on the idea that ivermectin works.

But it doesn't matter if ivermectin works or not. For the vast majority of us, covid is a minor threat and can be overcome with getting rest and just suffering it out. We have an immune system and it works. Most of these covid deaths are very sick, elderly, and obese, so I don't even believe they died from covid, I think they died with covid. Important distinction.

You seem quite angry. The fact that you're positive ivermectin works shows it all. I'm hardly positive of anything except gravity. I have a strong hunch that Joe Biden was elected through cheating, not 100% sure, but I'd bet dollars to donuts that without cheating, Trump would be our president right now. I have a strong hunch that covid-19 was developed in a lab in wuhan and not the wet market. I'm not sure, but I'd bet dollars to donuts that covid was developed through gain of function research funded by NIH. I don't believe that covid mRNA vaccines work at all and I believe they are potentially harmful. I'm not 100% sure, but I'm confident based on the data I've seen that I'm not missing out by being unvaccinated. I actually have a hunch that ivermectin and HCQ work but I'm not sure. I'm just not as convinced of ivermectin's efficacy as you are. And I don't think it matters because most of us don't need ivermectin even if it did work. Most of us can get over covid by just getting some rest and taking Advil and Nyquil.

I just don't know why you're so hostile about Alex not believing in ivermectin or why you're so triggered by my post. We probably agree on more than what we disagree on. And Alex probably agrees with you on more than he disagrees with you (other than ivermectin).

If you've used ivermectin and it worked for you, I think that's great. Just don't get angry about people with views that don't match yours.

Which brings me to another point. The NYTimes staff staged a walk-out when Tom Cotton was being interviewed at the Times Building. Isn't that silly? They don't agree with Cotton so they walk out? I don't agree with AOC but if I were a journalist, I wouldn't walk out when she was being interviewed at my office. That's just petulant. It's a sign of our times and something that the younger generations have learned to do: throw a fit when people say or do something they don't like.

Ok. Well, I don't think Alex is lying about ivermectin. He's never led me to believe that he's 1.) a liar or 2.) stupid. Alex is a bright guy that is opinionated and has done a lot of research and has educated reasoning on most whatever he writes. I'm not saying I agree with Alex on everything but when I do disagree, I state my case as intelligently as possible in the comments section and the forums can agree with me, agree with Alex, or agree with neither of us. I see you've posted a lot of data on ivermectin and I'm sure much of it is good data. I still am not as convinced as you are the ivermectin works, and if it does work, it may not be as effective as it's made out to be. Remember, there's data out there that suggest that covid vaccines are safe and effective and that data is highly flawed.

Here's the rub: If I got sick with covid, I'd probably just stay home and have chicken soup until I got better. But if someone gave me prescription of ivermectin and suggested I take it, I'd probably take it. I wouldn't go out of my way to get the prescription but if I could get it easily and cheaply, I probably would take it without any concern. Would I go to a doctor to get an Rx? No. If the doctor came to my house and wrote me a Rx, I'd probably take ivermectin hoping that it works.

My bigger point is that it doesn't matter. Most of us don't need to take any medicine or vaxx or anything to deal with covid. It's a minor risk. It's just another flu virus. Nothing more, nothing less.
