Trump needs to clean house at the DOJ and FBI CIA Etc. Massive firings Huge Beautiful Firings. Clean up the filth that will do nothing but pollute his efforts to MAGA.

"Huge Beautiful Firings." Perfect! I love it.

Exactly. Alex says "I don’t agree with Trump’s claim he had the right to “declassify” the Mar-a-Lago documents". If he didn't as President, who did? He could send them to Alex right now and by that act declassify them.

Expand full comment

Alex has that "tick" whereby he has to preface any comment that might be construed as supporting MAGA with a shibboleth, "now I don't (think/agree/condone) some (aspect of the MAGA movement/Jan 6/Trump tweet)" etc.

I'm coming to wonder if it's more to forestall a deluge of "surely you don't (think/agree/condone) comments". Which would mean there are more people who criticize that than what you are doing. Who knows. I'm surprised how people pounce on Substack writers for violating some presumed point of agreement.

Habitual fence straddler. He can't help himself. It's the saddest part about him, and I like the guy for everything he's done.

Expand full comment

Not sure he's exactly a fence straddler. I characterize it more that he was a never Trumper type, leaned middle left maybe on some issues which means he can't come across as a Trumpster. So he has to qualify everything. However, there is also a debate technique where you acknowledge some common ground (for anyone who might be center left here) so they might be more open to his point. So I only object when Alex is simply wrong on any point. I just wonder if he truly believed these people stole this election (which is likely), it's in the best interest of the country to concede. It's not in Trump's DNA, which is part of his good points as well as a tragic flaw. But since Alex has come a long way in regards to Trump, I cut him some slack. Ha.

Expand full comment

I cut him slack too. It’s simply an legitimate annoyance.

Expand full comment

Yeah. I know.

Expand full comment

I rationalize it this way: Alex is signaling that what he's saying MUST be true because, being a Trump hater, it's a statement against interest.

Expand full comment

Yes, there's that, too. I wouldn't say he is any longer a hater. Just not a lover. Ha.

As Richard Nixon did with the stolen 1960 election.

Expand full comment

Yes and should he have done it?

Expand full comment

Alex is a closet MAGA. He can't come out because in his circle, it's still taboo.

Expand full comment

And let's not forget all those documents that were found in Biden's garage, car, and underwear drawers.....all before he was even president.

Expand full comment

Wasn't the problem that Trump didn't declassify those documents while he was actually President?

Expand full comment

The problem is that there is no established legal procedure for declassifying documents.

Expand full comment

Absolutely there is. The President says "these are declassified." He doesn't even have to do that. If he shares classified information with people who aren't authorized to receive it and have no obligation not to report it--for example, Alex Berenson--it is now public information.

I am totally fed up with ALL of permanent Washington. I want everyone fired. I want budgets cut to zero.

Rescind security clearances and protective details. Empty the office buildings. Everyone who had a government job two weeks ago, should be cleaning out their desks and carrying cardboard boxes to the nearest Metro station.

I've decided that the Trump administration should be The Great Do-Over. After all, it can't be worse than what we've been through.

Expand full comment

Agree. I once worked for a very difficult organization. New CIO came in and declared the next year would be ZBB. Huh? Zero based budget. In other words start at zero and JUSTIFY everything from the ground up. It was painful but what a great idea.

Absolutely! (my "like" button doesn't work)

The SAD reality is the swamp just enables itself. Alex talks about this as nothing criminal since prosecutors can bring forth what they choose. These prosecutors in essence are "allowed" to fully tap into TAXPAYER MONIES do do what they wish. How is that "allowed" to be normalized in a "hey they have that right" I mean WTF! Just how much STEALING of the taxpayer monies went into this weaponized prosecution by the United States Government directed at Trump the past 8 years? To fire these people who were complicit is what exactly? Its certainly not holding them accountable

Give it time. Let them stew in their own cesspool wondering “what’s next”.

Democrats don't play by the rules.....then call you "above the law" when you bend the rules.

Moral of that line..."there are no rules or laws anymore...just Judges that agree or disagree with you."

"Again, I don’t agree with Trump’s claim he had the right to “declassify” the Mar-a-Lago documents."

As president he declassified the documents/information implicitly, by action (removal to Mar-a-Lago), rather than explicitly by declaration. The president's power to declassify is plenary and not subject to review as it is an Article II power, a derivative of the duties and powers of the commander-in-chief. Also, presidents (and governments) have powers derived from consent of the governed and not rights. The man that is president has rights.

Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed your observations.

We know about at least a couple of others who had classified docs: Her Majesty Hillary had them on her home brew server, and Biden had them from his time as a senator and VP in his garage. In his job at the time, Biden had no authority to take them from SCIFs.

Bill Clinton had the nuclear launch codes in his sock drawer after he left office. Courts ruled he had a right to have them,

We know none of these people suffered any legal consequences. Why not? B/c they're Democrats.

Lord knows what we'd find if we combed through Obama's stash of documents stored in a warehouse in Chicago.

So yeah, there's one set of laws for Democrats, and a different set of laws for Republicans.

Expand full comment

And as senators (both) and VP and Secy of State, they had no right to those classified documents. It is yes, me; no, thee.

Expand full comment

Agree, however, for greater authenticity regarding this event I would add that the theatrical, overstaffed manner in which the FBI approached the home & acquisition of materials, followed by the improvised layout/presentation of findings -- then compounded by the somewhat contemporaneous less dramatic & little revealing capture of Biden documents rounds out a much fuller picture of nothing less than a political drive-by not acknowledged in the commentary. This display seemed more simply fodder for Alex's former employer & associated press to howl in the night.

Alex, thank you for your honest and unvarnished take in on this. And of course why should we have any expectation that the NY Times would report this news objectively and without their usual leftist bias?

Like taxation, the power to prosecute is the power to destroy. It is of upmost importance that prosecutors who abuse that power be removed from office. They are officers of the court, whether they are appointed or elected. They hold an office of trust. When the trust is violated, they have to be removed. They can only be removed by the grantors of the office of trust. Usually the voters. Clinton fired all the US District Attorneys but seven of them in his first year, 1993. It was unprecedented, but decidedly legal. Anytime a prosecutor abuses his office of trust he should be removed. Biden and Garland should be ashamed of themselves for what they did.

Expand full comment

If Alex would read one trial transcript of a J6er, he would have a different opinion of prosecutors. A weird aside, I've been watching reruns of "Law and Order", which I watched religiously years ago. Inadvertently or purposely, that show demonstrates the enormous, unchecked power of the prosecutor, even ones serving the "higher good".

The picture of "classified" documents at Mar-a-Lago was a staged photo op. Reports reveal that the FBI placed “cover sheets” onto alleged classified documents found during its raid of Mar-a-Lago in order make the photo it took of the documents seem even more scary. The media then fell right in line and used the doctored evidence to slam Trump.

I am for firing them all. Not sure they should be investigated. Joe Biden should be, but it's late in the day for that. There are many in the Democractic party including the Clintons and Obamas who are guilty of treason in my opinion, but let's just fire as many as we can and move on. Well, Fauci should have been prosecuted. At the least he should be sued and his pension stuff stopped.

Again being a leftie you miss important legal details. Trump as president can declassify and take any document he wants from his time as president. A legal precedent upheld for Clinton and never challenged. Biden as a senator and vice president ILLEGALLY STOLE DOCUMENTS FROM THE GOVERNMENT HE HAD NO RIGHT TO. THE FACT HE STOLE DOCUMENTS FROM A SCIF FROM HIS TIME AS A SENATOR IS TRULY CRIMINAL. He stole these documents to sell for money to foreign governments. He used his son openly once he was VP. Hunter flew on air force 2 to china with his father to set up his climinal chineses deals. That is treason. But the focus is always on conservative and republicans. Democrats have been criminals for decades. Clinton set up a SERVER in her house in NY, not an email. She destroyed information on phones and wiped out the server and the phones and other devices AFTER THEY WERE SUBPOENED. You are only getting it a little bit. You cannot help yourself over your leftism.
