I just want everyone to remember this nonsense the next time the teachers--in your city, your state, your county--need to negotiate a new contract. Or better still, the next time teachers go on strike for higher pay and more benefits, etc.
Please do NOT tell me it's the teachers UNION. The individual teachers ARE the union. The teachers can push back on their union; they can push back in their schools; they can push back in their states.
And the ones who don't are trying to leach off taxpayers so they can sit at home and NOT teach.
I lump ALL teachers together. Do not tell me how wonderful your kids' teachers have been. Perhaps they're good teachers. BUT failure to stand up to their unions makes them part of this problem.
If teachers stand up and say, "I'm not going to be the 'mask police,' this absurdity ends a whole lot faster.

Same for my child. Except he is Covid recovered, but they made him quarantine and miss his homecoming band performance and dance. While Vaxed kids got to go. They are really interested in the kids aren't they?
This is a tax on the unvaxxed. Which seems unfair until you compare that to the potentially bancrupting size medical bills looming over the horizon for the vaxxed. Couple hundred bucks will soon seem like a steal in comparison.

Last summer we vetted the school and through friends we enrolled her for the fall bc the school was not enforcing masks and covid insanity. We wanted her to have contact w other kids etc. Fast forward to the end of this year amidst the omicron wave here in ny. It started in nov when gov yokel hochul brought back the mask mandate. The school immediately sent out an email saying masks were mandatory for the kids. Ok I said as long as they don’t enforce it In Person or try to hold her down to put one on her We would try it out and send her. The kids also had a xmas concert that my kid was looking forward to singing and seeing Santa. Another reason I went with the flow. Also the school was not crazy enforcing this on 2 yr olds once she was in there so all was ok so I thought. I refuse to put my kid in a mask and also taught her to actually throw it on the floor when asked to put one on. Resist was my policy and my kid did just that. They attached the mask to her clothes in case the state or some ny rat called doh on them. Remember the school got PPP money and was now aligned w the powers who have given them money. She never wore the mask and was happy going. Now the xmas concert. The owner of the school decided to move it outdoors at the 11th hour due to c19. That morning it was 22 degrees. If you could see the agony on these kids faces in the videos I took it would sadden all of you. Concert completed. Winter break for the holiday. The day b4 the start of the new semester an email comes out at 6pm that the school is closed for another week due to kids testing positive with no symptoms. Only in ny would you start testing 2 yr olds without symptoms. Insanity and stupidity. My blood pressure continues to rise. The final straw was the owner of the school sending an email out on a Thursday b4 the Monday they were due back after the covid closure. It said all children shall be PCR tested b4 coming back on Monday. So hurry up and make your appointment as pediatricians are very busy. The owner also required PCR neg test any time a child feels sick or comes back from a vacation. That was our final straw. We pulled her right out of school and also saved the money we were going to spend sending her. Hit these people where it hurts. I will use my $ as power against these insane covid sick people. They are literally destroying these kids up here and many parents accept it. Hey they have jobs that need to pay the 5k a month mortgage. It’s disgusting they put themselves and the dollar first.
My son's high school Covid policy: If they are vaccinated and test positive they DO NOT need to stay home - symptoms or not. If they are unvaccinated and test positive, then they MUST stay home for 5 days, then wear a mask to school for 5 days. Or, they can stay home the full 10 days. My son recently tested positive and had no symptoms except his french fries at work tasted "weird." We immediately started him on early treatment (sorry, Alex, IVM DOES work), and he tested negative two days later. I'm done with masks, so I just told him to stay home for the ten days, which he loved. Education has become a complete joke and we are going to pay for all of these ridiculous rules and virtue signaling in the future.

We will speak with our votes. WA state public schools all have levy’s this winter to pass and we’ve decided to not let one levy pass until Covid/mask restrictions are lifted. I pulled my son out of his private school in fall 2020 when it was clear they weren’t going to lift masking. I’m a proud homeschool mom now, but I still pay for the public schools from property tax and many of the kids in the church I serve at have to go to public school, so i am speaking for them in the best way I know how, voting no on the school bonds until they lift the Covid protocols
I'm a teacher in a "progressive" private middle school that discriminates against the unvaccinated students with the quarantine protocol, too. Nearly all of the students that have been out sick with Covid since Christmas break are vaccinated, however. But "exposed" vaccinated kids do not need to quarantine if they do not develop symptoms, while the unvaccinated kids must do so. None of my unvaccinated students actually developed any symptoms, but they must quarantine for 10 days, REGARDLESS OF NEGATIVE PCR-TESTS.
Additionally, the mask mandate is strictly enforced by my psychopathic corona-crazy colleagues, while I never one single time have told a student to pull up their mask. I also tell my students that masks are an evidence free intervention that has zero scientific legitimacy.
I'm essentially in open rebellion against the mask mandate now: I've spoken out in meetings, with my principal, and have now written a letter to my Head of School asking to go mask optional. I posted the letter on my substack for anyone who'd like to read it or who might find it useful in their own battles against barbaric mask policies in schools:
