"Let them eat sustainable cake," Marie Antoinette Redux

This story is so outrageous. Thanks for the Friday laugh!

Expand full comment

But Marie Antoinette was being kind to the people. The normal people were starving due to tight supplies of bread. Cake referred to a special kind of bread only available to the wealthy. She said that the poor should also be able to eat this during this emergency.

The Monteiros are not doing anything for the poor.

I’m sure they write a yearly check made of recycled paper to a local ngo that pretends to be a homeless outreach program.

And funnels that money to the politicians that will make their businesses flourish.

Since my browser or whatever won't allow me to "like" I have to tell you, I like.

Let them eat hemp!

Expand full comment

Wonder if they’d get high if the house caught fire?

Expand full comment

It’s the hemp that counts.

Still miss Marie

Didn’t save her head though.

What a great article you have written Alex. I can hear you in my heads. I bet they’re feeling all good about themselves too.

Oceanfront home? Really. I thought Ocean Levels around the world were rising due to Polar Ice Caps melting. 🤔

Expand full comment

Me too. I remember Obama whining about that too and I’m not sure if they used hemp but wow Martha’s Vineyard will be knee deep by 2030 or so. Hope all their s**t floats.

Their chef didn't float.

ZING! 🎯

🤣👍

Not if you use hemp. Little know fact: people who insist on using hemp for insulation also insist on the benefits of using of its botanical cousin, marijuana, which gives rise to the question, "You spent $7.2 millions dollars on a sustainable beachfront second home and you think that's environmentally friendly? Are you high!?"

Ocean levels are agresovely rising ONLY in Red states and exponentially higher in MAGA waters

It's not supposed to make sense. It's only supposed to assuage subconscious guilt.

I live at the ocean. It ain't happening.

If they really wanted to do it right, they could have imported skilled African artisans to build a 6,000 square foot hut with mud walls and thatched roof.

Expand full comment

Is there such a thing as a 6,000 sq ft yurt?

Expand full comment

Maybe not yet, but with millions, I mean billions of grants from HUD, your dream of 10,000 SF mud yurts could come true, for the laptop class.

This is the elite thinking they are demonstrating to the working class how best to live. They believe that electric cars provide sustainability, meanwhile the local car dealer nearby me sold 1 EV this week while at the same time he sold 100 gas fueled cars. They think they know what is best. Ask Robespierre, he thought the same thing right up until the end!!

Expand full comment

Yup. The destruction of the environment to mine the needed materials for the EV batteries don’t matter to these climate cultists or the drain on our electric grid (that isn’t run by their “sustainable” elements to charge them. They don’t mind killing hundreds of whales to operate their underperforming ocean placed windmills.

So much hypocrisy.

Expand full comment

Not to mention the child/slave labor used to mine the minerals needed for the batteries. In Africa they are using small shovels and pails, like kids take to the beach.

Expand full comment

Yet our self esteemed govt and wealthy elite who champion the green new (bad)deal don’t seem to care. As long as they get their egos massaged with their virtue signaling venom they are content.

Expand full comment

The rotten Sierra Club champions EVs and other unsustainable (haha) climate solutions, like hot dry rock geothermal energy. And probably houses like the one in the article.

Expand full comment

"Can’t you smell the sustainability? Sure you can. It smells like hemp!"🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

Expand full comment

Can they smoke it?

Expand full comment

Clearly, they have.

Expand full comment

😂😂😂🤣👍

Expand full comment

It smells like something, tough I'm not sure it's hemp. 💩💩💩

Expand full comment

Smells like teen spirit!

Having money does not mean your intelligent or have common sense. Usually it’s the exact opposite. What fools. I love to sell them some sustainable bridge to Manhattan.

But only for EV’s....?

This is SNL worthy! (when SNL was SNL!)

Funniest thing I’ve read this year!!

I didn't realize that sustainability is directly proportional to cost.

The class system at its worst. I wonder if this is how stupid the French aristocracy were leading up to the Revolution?

Expand full comment

The French weren’t this stupid. They didn’t insulate with hemp.

Expand full comment

😂🤣

Expand full comment

Correct but they did have buckets of French wine which they still consume daily.

At least the French got voting right. They do not allow any mail-in voting and require an ID like most of the EU.

My second home in West Virginia is made of wood and is painted green. Same thing?

Expand full comment

I installed a passive solar sun roof on my mobile home [600 sq ft].....does that count?? Asking for a deplorable hillbilly.

Expand full comment

It counts as long as it provides at least 50% of your energy needs. You're also allowed a cow chip burning stove for heat and hot water.

Expand full comment

Absolutely, NAILED IT👍

Expand full comment

Exactly. As long as the wood was deadfall recovered from local lake-bottoms and hand-sawn by Amish pescatarians, and the paint is non-petroleum based and made using Native-American-sourced materials and techniques.

Expand full comment

What is this vapid couple going to do when they have smoked all their hemp insulation? Because clearly they are. The narcissism is steroidal.

I would laugh, if it didn’t make me nauseous
