Sounds crazy but eventually tyrannies become that paranoid and fearful of the population.

Plenty of historical examples. It CAN happen here. Let’s not let it.

I'm afraid WILL happen here is more on the mark now. Absent valid elections I don't see any peaceful way to remove the megalomaniacs who've installed themselves in DC. I'm not going to let those self serving, mentally disturbed monsters subjugate me and I'm not willing to get into a long, profoundly damaging fight so, although costly, I've decided to end exposure to DC; which means ending US citizenship regrettably. I truly hate being forced to leave the US. DC is the problem, not America.

Expand full comment

Agree it’s DC. But it’s a really big country with some good places. I’m puzzled why you want to leave. For one, the grass only seems greener on the other side of the fence. For another, we need people here who still love this country and are willing to stand up against the nonsense.

Expand full comment

There are fundamentally wonderful communities across our nation, but DC has jurisdiction over all of them. I've been doing my homework and, for my circumstances at least, there is absolutely a way to enjoy a free, peaceful life by leaving. I understood what was happening when vote counting stopped in swing states which were about to determine the election, followed by in your face ballot box stuffing (how could any reasonably astute person not understand??). So, again, how does one stand up for our nation, peacefully, absent valid elections? I wish those who remain the best, including of course many family members and friends, though I'm not at all optimistic for them. Perhaps I should note I was a combat arms soldier in my younger years, which may be one reason I don't want to get caught up in a serious fight. There are too many beautiful, peaceful, free places in this world to choose that path at this point in my life.

Expand full comment

There are other ways to fight. Gentle ways. But I for one have decided to make my stand here for better or worse. There are wonderful places elsewhere in the world however, so I hope you find a place you love.

Expand full comment

I love my country, I know I can never really be anything but American. I love my countrymen. It has absolutely nothing to do with the stupid morons now in office. I've traveled enough to know there are big flaws in every country and imbeciles in charge. I'll stay here and go down swinging if I have to. Not going to let the likes of the Plucky Beagle Torturer run me out.

Also agree voting is not a trustworthy way to change anything here.

Expand full comment

Jeff...all of your points are so very valid, and I for one would not blame anyone for wishing to leave if they choose.

Expand full comment

I agree. As awful as things currently are, it’s only worse elsewhere and I think many Americans still hand a lot of fight left in them! We must stay strong!

Expand full comment

There's no were else to go that's better. No matter how bad it is here it's worse in every other part of the world (i play video games w lots of people from all over the world, & they tell me this).

Besides, we need your vote. Don't leave now, else we certainly can't elect people who can change this (if everyone has this mindset). U can have it in ur pocket as a last resort, but at least give the American people & the constitution time to see if we can overcome this. I agree with your sentiment, but i think u are giving in too fast.

Hang in there for another few years, with ur plan ready to go. U can also move to Florida or Texas & away from the craziness, as an option (tho i realize that takes finances & not everyone has that capability. I know i don't have the ability to move to another state right now).

Expand full comment

I assumed there were no better options most of my life, when there was really no reason to think of leaving, but having now done some careful research I know I was wrong. The options aren't realistically available to everyone but there are absolutely wonderful options outside the US for some Americans. However leaving in a well planned fashion, even in my relatively simple case, is no small feat. I figure it will take 4 to 5 years, although I'll move much faster if it looks like DC is going to try to bar the door to keep the average Joe under their control; as authoritarians are inclined to once they seize enough power. Everyone must look at their particular circumstances and make their own choices. This isn't a one size fits all option.

Expand full comment

agree with twztid13, there is no place to go. Learned it moving out of NJ to Southwest VA. If it takes over in DC, it'll take over everywhere. If they can try out the jabs in unknown places in Africa, they can reach you. More so, because if they find you out there, there will be even fewer other humans to either help you or witness whatever they do to you/us. We have to reach and educate as many people first, and if that doesn't work, we have to fight where we are. We might gather in places like Texas, Florida, Tennenssee, wherever, but eventually we may need to fight. But first we need to make these people see their sickness, or at least anyone who isn't gone.

Real Americans, no matter what country them came from, don't run away from a fight when the Republic needs them.

Expand full comment

We all must take a stand as in make our OWN choice. It's the GOD given right of the individual to make such a choice. Having an opinion on the matter is one thing, but choosing to to say something like a "Real American" would do this or that. How is that any diff than what the commieCRATS are doing with fear porn they spew and trying to divide people? Jeff to me sounds as if he has used his critical thought and reasoned all out as he should and for him he has made the choice to leave. Its not like he does not support all his friends and family he is leaving behind. Just sayin...

I for one will go down with the ship if need be. I've never once considered remotely leaving the greatest country in the world! USA USA USA and will fight for it's premise of "being" as originally laid out by the forefathers in breaking from the tyranny across the pond...

The term "real American" alludes to those who believe in America as an idea and ideal. Nothing to do with dividing people; rather it's more about bringing together all those people who treasure the highest ideals of this experiment known as America...no matter from whence they hail, whether native born or immigrants (legal immigrants).

Just stop. People told me the same thing when I left California for Tennessee (best decision ever, BTW.) I was born in the US, lived most of my life in the US (some overseas) and served in the United States military. But I'm also cognizant of present realities. While wishing all peaceful, freedom loving people the best I'm going to act in a well informed, rational fashion. US elections are no longer credible, I refuse to be subjugated by self serving authoritarians in DC and no I am absolutely not going to get involved in a long, dreadfully damaging fight. That leaves one real world option; moving to a life of peace and freedom elsewhere (that used to be the United States).

Where will you go? The whole world closed at the same time. Tell me what countries are free? Don't believe those youtubers telling you about how fabulous other countries are. They aren't. And in other countries, people will see you as a rich American they can rip off.

Expand full comment

I believed that to be true until I looked. Those who have a realistic opportunity to leave must do their own homework to find what suits them. Plus the set of opportunities depends on unique variables but the countries tend to be smaller, some less developed and some highly developed. Incidentally I don't look rich, because I'm not, and I won't be an American any more.

Expand full comment

You will always be an American. Outside of the USA, people will see you as a walking ATM. They will love bomb you and it will cost you real money, they even got me! There is no such thing as assimilation, the rest of the world is not as inclusive as America. Outside of America, you are there to support everyone you meet. I've lived outside of America for 3 and a half years, because it's more affordable as a retired person, but when I spent a month in San Diego recently, it was heaven compared to every other place. So expensive though. I don't look rich either, but everyone can tell you have a little more than locals, and they want what you have. You are not special, it happens to everyone, even me, even you. Will you believe me or people who make money from peddling their conferences and bogus services? My advice is the best, and I don't charge!

BTW an easy way to get a general sense as to the opportunities, and challenges, is to view some of the many videos available at the Nomad Capitalist channel. But details specific to each individual require considerable homework, unless you can afford to hire someone like Andrew as a consultant.

Expand full comment

I was going to discuss Nomad Capitalist. There are so many shills on youtube, Andrew being one of the worst, who make money from misrepresenting the crappy countries they want you to move to. Here is the truth about most of these countries. Yes, you can make an exciting video about the modern, trendy beach bars. But walk a few blocks into the real country, and you will be shocked at the horrible infrastructure, the poverty, the begging, the scams, the lack of real shopping and fresh food, etc. etc.

I was suckered into moving to Albania immediately after retirement. There was a Facebook shill promoting the Albanian Riviera town of Sarande. Several other shills who lived there provided more info. Tirana, the capital city, is a shithole, but Sarande was worse. You can't get fresh food there, the farmers market is filthy and disgusting, doing the smallest errand involves middlemen and bribes, etc. While I was there, a young woman on our FB group was held hostage by her employers at the beach bar, and FB people gave her advice on how to leave. She left Albania, another victim of the hype. She was lucky not to be trafficked.

I left Albania suddenly, because my Albanian landlord, who was recommended by someone on that same FB group, started harassing me about paying my utility bill, which was not mine, but huge, obviously for the whole building. There was a group of men in suits waiting for me outside. I put the landlord off, and left on the ferry to Corfu. I'm not a deadbeat, but if I had stayed, I would have paid that huge bill which wasn't mine, because it's better than getting slapped around by those guys in the car.

People came to the glamourous Albanian Riviera from cruise ships, they wanted to have lunch at the beach cafes, which were empty because the locals knew not to eat there. I saw tourists eating in those places, they didn't look happy. Whenever I went out to eat, I was served undercooked frozen food. Albanians will boast of their cafe culture. The cafes are actually bars. They serve coffee, but most people, men in track suits, drink alcohol, even in the morning.

I had similar experiences in Montenegro and other shitholes recommended by Andrew. I never hired him, but please be careful. If you look him up, you will find many consumer complaints. He takes people's money but doesn't do the work. You're on your own.

The developing world is worth traveling in, I'm in Tijuana now and like it, but Mexico is not anything like the USA. Hot water is a luxury. Tap water is dangerous, you have to sanitize everything you eat. Put toilet paper in the garbage, don't flush. Watching videos by shills is not research. Good luck.

Expand full comment

Jeff, is there one country in particular you'd prefer to live in? There are many I wouldn't mind especially since I'm retired and wouldn't need to be employed but once living elsewhere I might not feel the same way after learning of the local political situation. Of course one can always ignore politics and just live your life but that could be done here as well as so many do. Imo I would not advise giving up your citizenship until you've been somewhere else for a few years. At one time I considered Australia or New Zealand but recent covid events soured me on those countries. Freedom of speech seems worse than here in many European countries. I guess the question is where wouldn't you feel subjugated?

Expand full comment

You didn't ask me, but let me share a concern. I'm now in Mexico, because I happened to be in Europe when whole world closed at once. I had great difficulty getting out of Europe, because the discrimination against Americans, especially unvaxxed, was over the top. The authorities at Sofia airport and CDG in Paris went out of their way to keep me off my flights, finally let me on at the last minute. When I got on the plane to Mexico, I felt like an escaping political prisoner.

The lesson here is that all governments have been bought by the same people. You can't trust any government, USA or other, to respect your human rights. One day you're enjoying the beach, the next day the beach is closed. Or whatever Herr Schwab says. So IMO, the best country is the one where you have a peer group and some high profile politicians who will protect you. In any foreign country, you're on your own, and many hate you for the actions of the US govt. In Montenegro, there were places that wouldn't serve me pizza because of what NATO did to their brothers in Serbia. I had nothing to do with that and opposed it, but an American abroad is responsible for everything. If you can't be sure of getting pizza, will you trust the gov't to respect your human rights? The EU is every bit as evil as the US govt, the difference is that in Europe, you don't have political rights, while in the USA you have a peer group and a human rights infrastructure, and most restaurants will serve you.

Until you spend time abroad, you will never have any idea of how your status is affected. In tourist areas, the tourist is a cash cow, everyone will be nice, but walk a few blocks away, and you have no rights. I'm in Tijuana now, it has a lot going for it, and I can walk to San Diego if anything changes. If you want to start somewhere, try TJ, in Playas, near the beach. Very nice, safe neighborhood, family friendly, not as rough as downtown. Not so good with plumbing, but much safer than the EU.

Then they are captured by being given a fake Covid text ( PCR low and behold Positive - go figure , Gates and Soros bought the test manufacturing company ) and off they are wheeled in to make the hospital $ 30,000. per head. They are particularly unsuspecting because they trust, and tend to be more gullible ( I don't want to use this word but I cannot think of a better one right now).

It's how we felt when we moved out of Michigan last November. I grew up there, lived most of my life there, and still love the state, its lousy pro sports franchises, and most of its people. My company is based there and I have family there but the thought of going back gives me extreme anxiety.

Like your description of Washington, it's no longer the place I grew up in. Knowing that enough people in Michigan happily support Whitmer, Nessel and Benson and that all three will most likely be re-elected fuels my reluctance.

And that was one of the big deciding factors for us, watching people we know vote blue and then complain about the fallout, but continue to vote blue no matter how badly those policies were hurting them.

Good to know about the schools. We signed up for Katy Christian Academy for this year, just in case that turned out to be the case.

And yeah, soon as our stuff arrives we’ll get our new plates. Felt that a few times already. Kinda disappointed in the hostility tbh. Seems petty.

But that’s my biggest issue so far, so I’m content.

You might want to rent a car till you get your new plates. I wouldn’t worry too much about a teachers political bent: liberal or not. One of my girls (went to private school), and one of her teachers in her high school years was a communist……I mean it was in her DNA. Well, our daughter absolutely loved this teacher…….they would have huge arguments over democracy or communism or just the way of thinking. All you really want in a teacher (in my humble opinion) is someone who teaches you to think.

Our daughter got straight A’s and a conservative.

Expand full comment

I think that would be a great experience. Unfortunately the liberal activist teachers I've heard about at the colleges (there are even some at tamu) expect you to parrot back their ideas to them and not argue with them or you will get a bad grade. I think times have changed and the teachers on the left will no longer tolerate dissent.

Expand full comment

I don't want my kids quarantined either, and I doubt there is really any way to do that short of homeschooling. Where we are there are definitely liberals but they are more the working class hispanic and african american liberals. I think we have much more in common with them than we do the white elite big city liberals. And our schools aren't free of the activist teacher types, but I knew who was who and kept the conversation going at home with my kids if they were in those classes. That's the best we can do. They have to be prepared to handle that when they're out on their own.

While sitting having coffee, the homeless were tapping on window and terrorizing customers. My son loved Seattle many years ago. He was horrified and it really changed him. He saw evil.

I recently spent 10 days in Seattle (suburbs, actually). I was surprised at how mean and angry the people were in general. I grew up in the suburbs of a gritty mid-western city and have lived/worked in another for the past 25+ years and I travel to/through all portions of the socio-ecnomic strata of both. So, I am not pollyannish about normal human interaction nor am I expecting everywhere to be like Mayberry, RFD. No friendly greetings as people passed while strolling along. Just plain mean road-rage type stuff for normal driving (i.e. taking turns so 2 lanes of traffic merging to a single lane type stuff). I’ve lived in and around Seattle my whole life. What really changed things for me was the protests last summer. After the CHAZ/CHOP thing ended, one of the BLM factions protested every single day on a different roadway. They often stopped traffic on I-5 and I-90. They wouldn’t let ambulances through. They recorded themselves doing it day after day after day. After months of this, it finally petered out on its own. The cops and city officials did absolutely nothing about it.

Secondly is the drug use out here. I live in a very middle class area, which now feels like a ghetto. The grocery store I shop at has a group of guys dealing drugs every day in the parking lot. It’s not hidden or anything. The other store near me closed one of their doors, has hired armed security, and built a turnstile at the entrance. I don’t feel safe going to the grocery store - it’s crazy! When I mention my concerns about crime to people, they dismiss it. That really gets me. I’m not an alarmist by any means, but I can’t believe how much people will defend the indefensible out here. I think it’s time for me to go elsewhere.

People's brains have been wrecked by partisan politics. It was the same in SF. The rumors are true, the whole South of Market area, aka former health tech capital of the world, smells like human feces. But people feel like they would be giving political cover to some imagined bogeyman if they admit it, so they just avert their gaze and claim it's still a great place to be.

If anyone saves SF it will be the mostly Chinese immigrants who care more about their well being and quality of life than standing on some BS virtue-signalling ceremony.

And not to be stereotypical, but their community is very much like the Chaldean community in the Detroit area. Nothing was handed to them, they appreciate the opportunities this country affords them, they busted their asses for everything they have, have the most to lose, and will do anything and everything necessary to preserve it.

Yeah we were in a middle class area in Washington near a military base. Over the past few years our grocery store became a tweaker hangout and home to a homeless encampment. And the week before we left a guy OD’d and dropped dead in the middle of a main road. Unheard of for that area. Graffiti everywhere, it’s pathetic. And all they can talk about is Trump and anti-vaxxers. Just pathetic.

The comments on this area of the "bulletin board" (below "Susana") depict more truth of the world than the mainstream media does, much more I mean. Many cities have their characteristic psychoses, in which politics lives next door to crime, each faction oblivious to the other. They think there is some "liberal paradise" in the neighborhood. Walk through the area. See if you can find any such thing. There is a kind of a false evaluation of what the real America is, that you are supposed to buy into. If that liberal environment does not really exists, then what does? The kind of information on this part of the website under Berenson's name has to make it out to the greater outside world and shame these people who keep trying to prop up a wrong version of how stuff really in in the world. We need truth-tellers. (p.s. I am trying to get a newsletter together; this is really slow, plodding work but I have two recent newsletter articles up now that reflect some of my current thinking).

Not all of the PNW has turned dark and nasty - mostly just Seattle and Portland. Gosh, I wonder why? Maybe "defund the police" and "support Antifa" has something to do with it. The rest of the great PNW is mostly conservative. Wanna see Trump 2020 signs? Drive on most country roads 30 or so miles away from Sodom and Gomorrah and they are everywhere.

True. Unfortunately those areas don’t set policy. There’s plenty of sane people in Washington, no doubt. But the scourge in Olympia that fomented neighbor vs. neighbor for the last three years sets the tone. We could ignore it until it affected daily life during the lockdown, then it became untenable. Now it’s just got a different vibe. Like when one party in a relationship violates the trust of the other. We can never go back to normal in my mind.

This is well said and how I feel with my community. I live in WI, and the Gov here was mostly kept in check on Covid by the legislature and the WI supreme court. However, I'm in Madison and the community did their best to make up for it with draconian Covid policy. First day of school this September will be the first day my child attends school without a mask since March 2020. I now carry a level of distrust and resentment toward neighbors and the community at large for allowing this. I'm ready to get out, but got to convince my better half.

Actually, I went to a different big healthcare facility today to get medical records and there was no mask requirement, and I saw about 10-20 percent of people wearing masks. Most of the staff did not. I’m in Seattle too and I have to hope it’s getting better. Even the most dedicated mask/vaccine advocates are getting fatigued, I mean we are going into year 3 and masks/vaccines haven’t worked.

Expand full comment

I’m in Seattle as well, and I’m hoping/praying it gets better. I’m simultaneously looking to go, the question being whether I’m going to Eastern WA or a different state altogether. I’ve recently started disconnecting myself from people/things that continue to push the vaccine/mask nonsense. For example, I’ve been friends and had a working relationship with a local woman for many years. Covid has become her. It’s all she talks about, it’s all she thinks about. She talks at me rather than with me and assumes I’m in full agreement with her. I finally decided to break up the work relationship and distance myself from it. I just can’t stand the constant complaining about the unvaccinated and people “not doing the right thing.” Once I made the decision, it’s like a huge weight has been lifted. I didn’t realize what a downer it was to listen to her week after week. I’m leaving gracefully, not making it about her or covid, but I already feel so much better!

Likewise, I’m coming to the conclusion that some friendships are not worth keeping. I love the person, but we’re just in such different places that I feel the things we used to have in common are no more. I’m not formally breaking up with my friends, just not making as much effort anymore. I feel like the cords that keep me tied to Seattle have been getting severed one by one - sometimes by me, and sometimes by something else. I probably never would have left Seattle if the last two years hadn’t happened. Now, I’m mentally in a place where I’m ready when the door opens. Good luck to you.

Your second paragraph sounds like my husband and I. We've been in Seattle since 1987. It's not the same place I loved. We have been slowly losing friends too -especially over the past 4 years. We keep our mouths shut about politics. The closest we come to outing ourselves is to play devils advocate sometimes-which is probably enough to out us as non believers. I see things posted on FB or Twitter by people I know. So much pointed hate and arrogance about politics and weird self righteousness about masks and vax. We'll probably move too. Idaho looks pretty good to me. If we leave, none of our "friends" will care or miss us at all. The Seattle "freeze" in action.

I thoroughly believe that all the withheld and suppressed vaccine injury information will explode and be revealed if Trump is the nominee. That is the only card left to get rid of him, and I think they are holding it until the end after nothing else works. Technically, he pushed for them, so you could say he is the Covid vaccine father. It won't matter if Biden and crew are the ones that pushed them and resulted in jobs lost and enlisted leaving the military in droves. If the masses were gullible enough to believe a newly invented vaccine was 95% effective.... telling them Trump is to blame will be a piece of cake. They will wait until he is the nominee to have all the information come out. Technically, the info is out there now; over half the country has no idea it exists because their news sources don't tell them.

Yes, that is their message loud and clear, and it does matter and whatever side of the aisle you're on it should be extremely concerning the use of these tactics.

My point was it doesn't matter because it's all bullshit anyway. This was all about the message and the distraction. They are setting up the situation that "justifies" the vote counts that keep them in power.

Nobody has been looking for the mechanism used in the last election. But the Jan 6 committee and every time the MSM uses words like unjustified or outrageous or any of the other adjective used to discredit anyone that questions the validity of the last election shows me there is a mechanism they are hiding. I seriously hope America at large wakes up and notices. There may be indications of that. It appears in the primaries over the last several weeks that many Trump backed candidates are winning, including over incumbent Republicans. You also have some large Democrat donors questioning their own party. Steve Kirsch, who has a great Substack about vaccine injuries and how bad the COVID-19 vaccine is, is a mega donor for the Democrats and now he is saying he doesn't feel that same way. He was on Tucker Carlson last night, Brian Kilmeade was in for Tucker. Apparently he's given over $20 million to Democrats in the past and said that it was Fauci and Biden, the CDC, NIH, and FDA, that broke his trust and totally have lied about what he calls the most dangerous vaccine ever. He never mentioned Trump at all and reading the comments on his stack, I'm a subscriber to that as well, it doesn't appear there's a whole lot of Trump loving people, but trust is wavering for the Democratic party.

https://simulationcommander.substack.com/p/covid-data-the-ira-and-political

I was going to talk a little more about the passage of the IRA, but in (actual) breaking news, the FBI raided Donald Trump’s Mar-a-Lago resort today. I’ve previously talked about how the FBI is now simply a political weapon (and maybe always has been), but the openness in which the administration engages in their political war is shocking. From the blatant political persecution of the 1/6 prisoners to the ‘domestic terrorist’ designation of concerned parents and covid ‘misinformers’, this administration is sending a clear message — oppose us at your peril. After all, if they can go after a former president, what chance do you have?

What do you think the 87,000 new IRS agents funded by the Bumble Back Broker Inflation Reduction Act will be doing? It’s not to audit the 700ish billionaires in the country — it’s to attack dissenters the way that Obama attacked dissenters in the Tea Party. There’s a reason that Democrats unanimously voted down an amendment that would ban new IRS funds from targeting people earning less than 400,000 a year:

It’s the same reason that they want to be able to snoop on your bank transactions if you make more than $600 in transactions IN A YEAR: complete control. (Ask Runnin’ Justin about that sometime) Even if you’re completely innocent and eventually exonerated, the process is the punishment. Just like a bumpy ride back to the police station is a ‘lesson’ for the town drunk, an IRS audit or FBI investigation is a ‘lesson’ for those who dare stand up to Joe Biden

Expand full comment

You are 100% correct on the 87,000 new IRS agents. In fact their new hire posting reads in part, "Carry a firearm and be willing to use deadly force, if necessary. Be willing and able to participate in arrests, execution of search warrants, and other dangerous assignments."

(I heard that the listing was taken down/changed but haven't verified if that is in fact the case)

This is like Lois Lerner on steroids! Why exactly does an IRS agents need to carry a firearm and why would they be executing search warrants and have dangerous assignments? All part of a plan to never lose again.

Interesting. And so true that you could easily not know about vaccine injury if you didn’t seek out the information. Same as with the actual risk of covid. Amid all the hype, it was hard to find the information that this virus was not all that dangerous for the vast majority.

The minute Trump can be associated in a negative way, all the vaccine embracers will forget the Biden mandates, canceled people and military members lost and pivot and blame Trump. All cable channels will trot out one vaccine injured person after another. The Twitter, Facebook and YouTube suppression of any negative remarks about the vaccine make sense when you see this possibility.
