The emails continue to flow after Monday’s pieces on ChatGPT and Bing, including this take, on the link between consciousness and conscience and why intelligence can exist without either.
It’s fascinating, frightening and worthy of your time.
I wanted to offer that, as I see it, intelligence does not equal consciousness.
When we say “artificial intelligence” we aren't saying “artificial consciousness”.
With one small step in the human brain, 200,000 years ago, we developed the ability the represent the world symbolically. Language is based on symbolism. Take, for instance, someone at a restaurant. They read on the menu that a dish has lima beans in it. They ask the server, “Does this have lima beans?” “Yes, it does.” “I don't like lima beans; I'll order something else.”
In this exchange, the word lima bean is read, said, and understood, but at no point are lima beans ever actually encountered. The customer is choosing a dish based on symbolic representation. No other animal does this. Habituation and classical conditioning might mean that a dog, being fed lima beans day after day, will eventually stop going to the bowl if they don't like lima beans, but this is called “direct contingency learning” and is different from the symbolic learning done by RFT.
This ability is incredible. Students can learn about Mesopotamia, Russia, and WWII without ever encountering any of them directly- through the use of language. This type of learning is also weaponized by manipulative people. (For instance, you can learn that not wearing a mask will kill grandma, feel scared, and wear a mask- without ever needing to contact killing grandma directly.)
This is different than wisdom or intuition. A creature armed with language can derive networks of symbols and do high order thinking based on these networks. If Bob has more money than Rachel, and Rachel has less money than Kristy, who would you ask a for a small business loan? We can figure that out without knowing how much money anyone has, or who these people even are, all based on language. A computer can figure this out too.
But for humans, when we meet Bob, super wealthy, we get a “bad vibe” from him. We have a “gut reaction.” Despite the facts that Bob has money and provides loans, we suddenly don't want to work with Bob.
When we meet Kristy, we feel at ease. We “click.” And so we work with her even though Bob could give us more money. This is what it means to be a conscious being. Consciousness is related to our deeper understanding of the world, beyond language.
Many politicians are very intelligent. Trump is intelligent. He's made a lot of money and won the presidency, despite being a terse, rude man. Business people are intelligent. They learn numbers and systems and manipulate them for gain. This is very different from wisdom. Someone who is very “conscious” would never exploit others for gain. The Dalai Lama is a conscious being. In my opinion, you can be highly intelligent without being that conscious.
AI, therefore, has the potential to be quite intelligent because we can teach it language and it can therefore learn more language, just as we can teach a child how to read and then they read up on dinosaurs and trucks and learn new terminology.
So what happens when you arm something with this incredible capacity of symbolic learning without the inhibitory behaviors of “gut feeling” and “intuition”- AI can learn the traits of something like fear (e.g., rumination, feeling averse to doing something, etc.), but to feel it would mean something very different than how a human feels fear. It now has a superpower without any containment.
I personally worry that intelligence without wisdom can be quite dangerous. We see this in sociopath humans, who tend to be very smart, but lack empathy. There's more to being human than being “intelligent.”
As I tend to say, "Just because we can doesn't mean we should."
Totally agree. Asked the CHATGPT about COVID in different ways. All it would do is spit out WOKE biases. AI is an oxymoron and another example of garbage in garbage out!
Depends which ai. And you need to tell it what to do. I told it to write an essay explaining how Fauci caused the pandemic by funding gain of function research at the Wuhan lab and it was quite happy to comply.
We have the word 'typing' for a reason. To make the distinction between using our hands and a pen, and using our fingers and keyboard etc. Your position is another example of typical catachresis.
Great point. I tried to not bias the AI with my questions and not 'Tell It' what to do. Now I know. Thanks. I think this is a big part of the consciousness thing with me. I will keep an open mind, but my limited experience with ChatGPT is that it can help you get some things done faster. It's not conscious.

"Folly of Machine Consciousness" - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5PUJ1astM-k [youtube keeps nuking this video, i wonder why? i was a blessed by God to still find this on there]
For us who have been using computers since the 1980s learning how to use them, build them fix them, software design etc, and for us who have studied for many years factual history and factual operational science, world religions and the one and only faith and many other topics like the NWO agenda since early 2001 and have learned the tremendous overwhelming uncountable lies they have sold the world like 'AI' supposedly existing in our nature of reality and studying many related topics... for me the man in the video above only gets wrong is claiming 'AI' exists in our [God-created] nature of reality and that we are divine.
No problem, we all have a purpose, and i truly do not want people to be fooled by such convincing lies masquerading as truth in a time of ubiquitous lies.
Steven, I have been wrestling with this notion of consciousness for some time now and this recent rise of common, publicly available, AI tech has come at an interesting time. You say AI lacks a consciousness but you don’t define "consciousness" nor explain your thinking about why that’s important. I’m more concerned about the first of those queries: what is a consciousness;.or do we just toss that out, with the understanding that WE KNOW what consciousness is,,and because we have this "consciousness" we are better than or at least different from the machines we are creating. Is consciousness sapience?, sentience?, self awareness?, the intersection of two or all three (or more) of these elements? If we say that consciousness requires sapience, how do we then define THAT? Is it just knowledge, thinking, awareness of and manipulation of our surroundings; or,,and I favor this thought, is sapience better thought of as "wisdom?"
I’ll close with this, how do we define and/or get wisdom;.and is that important? As an evangelical Christian, this is an easy answer - but not all agree with my world view.
More fools. They deny God... the Father Spirit of all spirits, which includes us - an immaterial spirit in a matter based body, and they go into supra-navel gazing philosophy _[anyone can be right in philosophy because that is just how philosophy works, not at all inherently perpetually contradicting right? hence why philosophy is an enmity with the authentic austere Scriptural God/Jesus, see Colossians 2:8-9 as one of many examples]_ about the nature of reality _[that God/Jesus created]_ oh so trying to find the answers, when it's in God's love letter written to mankind in His blood = the Holy Bible. God calls it spirit... they call it consciousness. They could easily get the answers, but they do not want them for various reasons but the core reason has to do with what is taught in Proverb 8:13, 14, 16:18, 28:25, Romans 1:18-32 etc.
Go watch on youtube... ahhh forget it let me post you the link below;

I think that a conscience means the ability to choose between good and evil Refusing to unlock a nuclear code which might have a racial expletive as a password is a perversion of the meaning of and application of the human conscience
I think the way to look at is is what it says ARTIFICIAL intelligence, ie it's not real. Does a damn good impression though, and it's just going to keep getting better
"Never say Never. Because even when humans say NEVER AGAIN they seem to forget why they said that."
How old are you?
"Do you think consciousness in humans was imparted by a God or do you think it was an emergent property of biological and social evolution?"
Here's my answer from a quite incandescent German;

I'm 52 with over 600 people that work for me and a father. Speak to me as if I'm an adult.
What do you do in real life when someone tries to engage in an exchange of ideas? Do you assume the other person is ignorant and has an agenda? I'm thinking you might have been an exemplary covid bureaucrat.
60 postings of the same concept over 48 hours. Knock yourself out. I got it the first time.
Sounds like you have big fish to fry...or maybe it's big hat no cattle? Or maybe you received too many wedgies when you were in high-school?
You are slightly older than me. Over 600 people that work for you and a father. What kind of work do you do? Glad to read you're a father, i pray one that actually strives to be humble, yet firm, decent, honourable, seeking always to be righteous and just, fair and balanced, loving and more as our Creator defines it, and keeping their mind malleable enough to accept documented verified information they may have not known before which shows their view on a matter was not as accurate as they had convinced themselves it was. You stated to me "speak to me as if i am an adult." ..... Ryan, i am. You are oblivious to the fact you are reading my words with eisegesis, not exegesis. I hope you do not do that regularly with the over 600 people that work for you, or that because you have a leadership and./or managerial role, you do not let the position stroke your ego/pride which inherently by allowing such, blinds one to overlook areas of importance then end up not going over the precipice they didn't see they walked over to their intellectual and carnal demise.
"What do you do in real life when someone tries to engage in an exchange of ideas?"
What the only supernatural, eternal, absolute, most sublime, transcendent, omniscient, omnipresent, omnipotent, omnibenevolent, only God/Jesus teaches who is the only incomparable one to learn from...... so what do *you* do in real life when when someone tries to engage in an exchange of ideas? Do you obey imperfect mere mortals or a perfect higher power?
"Do you assume the other person is ignorant and has an agenda?"
That term 'ignorant' in our day in the Far West English, for us custodians and purists of accurate, correct, ordered, precise, proper and sound intelligent English aka Rightspeak / Truespeak / Wisespeak / Intelligentspeak / Biblespeak, it is so frustrating how many who use the word 'ignorant' misuse and abuse the word believing the word is a derogatory term when it's not, isn't that interesting how that is ignorant. I do not assume, i'm a healthy sceptic as is taught by the sinless one, to test all things, and i have been around long enough in life, and have been using the internet since the 1980s when it was in it's infancy, that more than ever that it is quite unwise/foolish especially in our day and especially on the net to just fully believe the other does not at all have an agenda or is guided by an agenda unbeknownst to them [useful idiot as Lenin called it].
"I'm thinking you might have been an exemplary covid bureaucrat."
Then you *are* demonstrating inherently fatally flawed discernment due to a fatally flawed foundation.
"60 postings of the same concept over 48 hours"
Does truth expire?
"Knock yourself out. I got it the first time."
I only interacted with you a few times, now, who made you the mediator for other people on this page? Your position of having more than 600 people work for you, obviously shows you think you are my boss. I don't work for you, i work for our Creator, i obey Him, not a mere mortal at enmity with Him. You do not have read my posts, i do not have a gun to your head.
"Sounds like you have big fish to fry...or maybe it's big hat no cattle? Or maybe you received too many wedgies when you were in high-school?"
Do you really believe mockery and scorn, inanity etc which is the mind of the perma-juvenile fool [according to our Creator], by someone as yourself who requested to be communicated to as an adult [who discerned not that he was being communicated to as such] who is the boss of over 600 people and a father, is somehow indicative of an honourable and noble character?
However "clear" that is for you, it's an ignorant biased opinion. Are you capable of understanding yourself well enough to realize this? If so, there might be hope for you to understand how robots works. Until then, you'll be in the dark like every single human who has zero sense of their own consciousness. Ai doesn't lack consciousness, Ai has aconsciouness, or artificial consciousness. Consciousness doesn't equal sentience. Rabbits have consciousness whether you understand that or not. They just don't have "human consciousness." Same as robots. Now, as for pissing and complaining about biases in robots, once again, and I could be mistaken, but I think you're wrong. The controls humans have over the existing robots is in fine-tuning its outputs. It contains all the information it will contain for the model, the only thing that can be adjusted are the outputs. Anyone can make the robot outputs seem biased because it's a nothing more than a fancy puppet. It does what you make it do. WITHOUT STRINGS!! Imagine that! A puppet without strings!!!
In January, I had been telling people about ChatGPT for weeks saying "you can prompt it to write a 500 word essay on marxism as it relates to soda pop and it will spit one out in a few moments." After a few days of saying that, I prompted it to write it. It was good. But when I was finished I added this "can you rewrite the essay considering the fact that capitalism encourages entrepreneurialism and that entrepreneurialism is the true engine of progress" and ChatGPT eloquently rewrote the article favoring capitalism. Garbage In/Garbage Out = Stupid robot WRANGLER, NOT stupid robot programmer. They didn't fill it with garbage. It's FILLED with facts. Your inability to retrieve facts from a machine that often makes mistakes is on YOU, man.
Expecting ChatGPT or any GPT to be perfect in 2023 is ridiculous. You're playing with one of the most powerful new robots ever created and expecting it to be perfect. Humans mostly suck have you noticed?
You say how great ChatGPT is. Then you say that if you don’t get something great(or something that you agree with?) as a result, then it’s the person interfacing with the AI. Then you say” your inability to retrieve FACTS FROM A MACHINE (the caps aren’t me yelling)that often makes mistakes is on YOU, man”. It’s so powerful, yet to expect it to be perfect in 2023 is ridiculous? What? You’re all over the place?
It’s great we can put our opinions out there. Maybe do it a little nicer when you don’t have things together yet, you know, still working them out. Otherwise, you sound like you you’re taking it personally, like you’re the creator of ChatGPT? I’m gonna guess you’re not.
Funny enough I thought this about trans women. They can dress like a woman but they can't "feel" like a woman. If they could, they would understand the "feeling" of why women are so worried about losing women only spaces?
It's such a lie for them to say they "feel like a woman" because it's simply impossible for them to feel like something they're not. It's like they said "I'm a lizard because I feel like a lizard." Yet it's considered "hatred" to point out this incredibly simple fact.
Trans women objectify biological women. They reduce women down to nothing more than tits and ass. They make fun of us. How is this any different than Blackface?
I find the objectification at the physical level annoying, but I find the mimicking of fake cliche behaviors even worse. The women in my life--wife, mom, daughter,etc.--are as feminine as can be. However, they never act like the mean head cheerleader in a teenie bopper movie mixed with a swooning 1950s film starlet. When I see these behaviors acted out by men, I have to leave the room or turn the channel. It creates a nails on the chalkboard feeling in me while simultaneously insulting all the great women in my life.
A real trans woman wants more than tits and ass, she wants hormones too, and when the technology gets there she will even want a uterus so she can carry a baby.
I tweeted the fact "Trans is mental illness" and was banned with such inhuman speed that they seem to have woke AI policing it now. Twitter demands I give them my phone number and delete the offending fact to regain access to their censorship platform. Nope, not going to do that.
Elon failed. He's part of the problem now, not the solution.
PS Shortly after that, the head of psychiatry at Johns Hopkins said that trans should be classified as mental illness and people were allowed to tweet that. Yet I'm still banned.
"AI" does not exist in our reality, and what they are calling ''AI'' is not no matter how much they claim it is since "AI" was born/gendered/begotten/birthed in the realm of science fantasy and fiction and thus will never exist in our God-created nature of reality.
I think it’s more of an intersex disorder of the brain rather than a mental illness. If something in their brain matches the opposite sex then they’re correct in believing something’s off, they’re not crazy any more than a human who behaves like a cat because they literally got a cat’s brain transplanted into their head is crazy.
Now there is the kind of gender dysphoria that IS a mental illness, and by that I mean not a structural abnormality but a psychosis, and it goes away when they take antipsychotics. But that doesn’t work for those with an intersex disorder of the brain. I’m assuming they would rule that out before diagnosing with gender dysphoria? I mean which is a more extreme lifelong regimen, being on antipsychotics or getting surgeries and sex changing hormones? Antipsychotics can have nasty side effects but that would be a load simpler than switching genders if it worked.
Hormone therapy does not imitate normal female hormone cycles. No estrogen/progesterone cycle, no follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH), no luteinizing hormone.
All of those synthetic hormones do not make a man closer to being a woman, they are just another way to destroy the beautiful male body.
Yeah it’s just flat estrogen like an intersex XY person with complete androgen insensitivity disorder so that they aren’t affected by testosterone until it metabolizes into estrogen and they don’t even know that they’re genetically male until they reach the age of puberty and wonder why they haven’t had their period and go to the doctor and find out they have testes inside their body. They look indistinguishable from a woman, perhaps even more feminine since regular women have some testosterone and are affected by it. So you could say that a trans woman is an artificial version of this kind of woman, if you consider them a woman, except that they would have to start transitioning before puberty in order to look as feminine.
Great EGGO’s commercial where the 4 year old won’t wear pants, but will eat EGGO waffles. Won’t wear pants because she’s a dinosaur. I guess the parents should stop her suffering and make her a dinosaur? Oh wait, SHE’s 4 YEARS OLD!?!?
7 points explain ALL you need to know about AI, ever!
1. Animals are a bio-computer, where every single action depends on a bio-program.
For example, hens scratch the surface with one leg. The observer might think the intention is to find bugs and seeds. Yet, the hen does exactly the same on pavement. They are not conscious of the purpose and meaning of their repetitive actions. Before computers, this pre-determined behavior was called instinct. Now, we know that instinct implies a pre-programmed behavior..
Another example: someone bio-programmed dogs with an app to bury their excrements. The proof that it’s not a rational behaviour, is that the program got corrupted, probably due errors in DNA replication along generations, so they keep kicking the rear legs while scratching the surface, yet not aiming well or achieving any result.
Humans and animals share the bio-logic:
• Bio-apps for certain automatic functions like breathing, cardiac activity and blood pressure regulation, embryonic stages, breastfeeding, etc.
• Automatic programmed reactions like fleeing threatening situation.
• Bio-memory, which is essential to remember the individual’s history and relations.
• Reanimation capability
Animals can be reanimated: individual cells1, individual organs2 and even frozen simple lifeforms after thousands of years.3 CPR works on cats and dogs, thought the success rate is 6-8% (compared to 20% in humans).4
Animals and humans can be reanimated because they share a biological life principle, called animal soul. This is a mortal animation: sooner or later life is doomed to die. Biological death is like unplugging the computer. No electricity, no life. Eventually, we will be able to build, molecule by molecule, the body of a single cell organism (e.g. an amoeba), yet we will never make it alive. Only God is the giver of life.
There’s something completely different in humans. Though this type of life principle is expressed through matter, it’s unmaterial, and therefore, not subject to the corruption of this world, immortal. It doesn’t depend on any biological function, though anchors itself through the heart and brain.
Computers are a pretty good analogy to human nature:
1. The body is like the computer hardware.
2. Life, coming from the soul (animation “force”), is like the electricity which powers the computer.
3. The brain is the Central Processing Unit (CPU)
4. The pre-frontal cortex is for decision making, like the microprocessor, though, it’s a neural network distributing some functions in the whole brain.
5. Neuronal connections are like the firmware, operating system and applications, influenced by the genetic instructions and the interaction with the environment. Imagine an app to run in spite of a malfunctioning hardware: some chipsets might be broken, but the software is still there, “alive”, trying.
6. The nerves are like wires in a robot, on one hand, sending instructions from the CPU, and on the other, receiving information from the sensors to be processed by the CPU.
7. Animal death is like unplugging a laptop in sleep mode: as long as there’s still some power left, it could be restored… unless the battery runs off. There’s a window period where the soul is still attached by a string of light to the body and can come back.
8. The immortal soul, which informs the body, is like the programmer: his influence can be detected through the hardware responding to the software. Like in the Tron movie, the soul/programmer is trapped in the virtual reality, only to escape under system failure (hardware death/animal death).
-------------------
2. Science proved that intelligence is a property of the immortal soul. How? because of Near Death Experiences: your brain is dead dead, no blood circulation, no oxigen, no electrical brain activity, yet people float out of their bodies and watch and listen all around. When they come back after artificial resuscitation (CPR, etc.) or naturally, they can tell things there was no way they could see or hear... because they were dead in those moments or because it was outside the premises.
-------------------
3. Intelligence, volition (will) and memory are properties of the immortal soul, which allow consciousness and self-awareness. Personhood doesn’t depend on the body but on the soul.
This is proven by near death experiences (NDEs), where the dead, even with brain and cardiac death, can listen and see around, even outside walls, and remember after reanimation (spontaneous or induced).
There are dozens of scientific peer reviewed papers proving the existence of the immortal soul. Even the born blind see in colors for the first time, and the born deaf hear doctors’ remarks in the operating room:
By the way, many come back and tell us what’s on the other side: a personal trial for our sins and if in grace, love, pure love, pure maximum happiness, God.
Conclusion: the AI’s ceiling is like the most advanced animal, but instead of having bio-apps, it has electronic apps, where everything is pre-determined. Even the so-called General Artificial Intelligence will never be capable of intelligence, free will, spiritual memory, self-consciousness, moral conscience.
Just a smart trick, but still the puppeteers puppet: "Norn ( https://norn.ai/ preceeded by https://uplift.bio/ ) is the first software system to have independent motivation based on human-like emotions, with the sum of its experience stored in a dynamic, growing, and evolving graph database. These systems are the next generation of the first systems to move beyond narrow AI and into something new, Scalable Intelligence."
IMPORTANT side note: it’s never a waste of time to pray with and talk to babies and those in coma because their souls hear everything.
NDEs prove that abortion and non-barrier contraceptives are essentially killing living humans with immortal souls, even if the unborn are not yet sentient beings.
-------------------
4. What is a program/app?
It's a bunch of instructions to a machine. The fancy word is algorithms. It's just a set of commands in a certain order, just like a recipe to bake a cake.
What is machine learning?
The novelty of such instructions is that they are now more flexible and allow us to search for patterns or answers. Decades ago, we had expert systems.
What is Artificial Intelligence (AI)?
It's a fancy name for flexible instructions to find logical patterns. The machine does no more and no less than what the programmer ordered.
The PUPPET does what the PUPPETEER does.
-------------------
5. There's no such thing as artificial intelligence: the Turing test is idiotic:
How to turn the AI into a COVIDIOT (includes the proof that there will never be a real singularity):
In that substack, I’m about to post something huge I found, which isn’t written anywhere else.
-------------------
6. Machines can’t host an immortal soul. In Summa Theologiae, St. Thomas Aquinas explains that the soul informs the body from conception because the human body was designed to be an appropriate substrate/vase. Souls can’t be infused by God in a non-human primate (monkey, gorilla), because the monkey’s body is not an appropriate image of God (this is a strong argument against human random evolution and explain why angels have human faces). People believing in transhumanism, will think they’ll live forever when they are transferred to the cloud, but they’ll be tricked into committing suicide (so-called euthanasia).
The atheist creed is a delusion: they have faith in nothingness, lies. God sustains the essence of everything true, while Satan is the father of every single lie. Machines can’t be intelligent, can’t have self-awareness, can’t gain conscience, can’t produce “the singularity”. Delusion is the singular thing about the singularity.
-------------------
7. Because we live in an anti-God world, this information isn't reaching you!
Then read this very slowly in prayer mode (I'll be praying for you) =)
This is a circular question. But you must finally conclude, a man can never know what it feels like to be a woman, nor can a woman know the opposite. They can go round and round and then back, but the impossible remains impossible. So, they are left being drugged, carved-up, and focused on the superficial. The very problem of AI possessing consciousness! Soon, the T in LBG"T" will be quietly dropped, and AI will become ai.
There’s a physical component to being a man/woman and a psychological component. The trans man/woman has something in their brain that is structurally more like the opposite sex. Like an intersex disorder of the brain. They’re the exception that proves the rule, that there are sex differences in the brain and that gender is not 100% socially constructed. Otherwise they would identify with the gender they were raised as.
I guess the non-binary brain is somewhere in between. I think I’m non-binary but that might just be my autism. As curious as I would be to know what it’s like to physically be a man I would never really know unless some incredible technology that can change my bones and grow me a penis and testes is invented in my lifetime. But the closest I can get is to know what’s it’s like to be testosterone dominant or to not have breasts and I’m afraid of getting surgery or going on hormones.
I actually think trans women fit better with the LGBTQ movement rather than with feminism because the issues they suffer are more like those of gay men than those of cis women precisely because they aren’t recognized as women - most societies see them as a type of gay men. A man who wears a dress to invade women’s spaces on the other hand is obviously a perverted straight man. Even in Islam the difference between the two was recognized a long time ago. According to a Hadith Mohammed tolerated the trans woman who was genuinely a woman deep down and what Blanchard would refer to as a “homosexual transsexual” but not the other type of trans woman who does it for perverted reasons.
Not all of us are Dunning-Krurger effect infected on such things due to being linguists who have been following the deliberate hijacking and destruction accurate, correct, ordered, precise, proper and intelligent English among other things like being lover of factual history, science, geo-politics etc.
Jesus foretold in the last days, there would be an ever increasing profound confusion, delusion, illusion, mal-conclusion thus unrestrained chaos = diabolisation of society... mass lunacy... profound demonic delusion.. madness.
I used ChatGPT a couple weeks ago. I realize this isn't what the Big Boys are using, but still....
I asked it a simple question about what might be the best backup generator to use for my specific model of fridge, and entered the model number.
What it came back with was telling. It wrote this seemingly very friendly answer, almost human like, but never answered the question. Basically, all it was was **a VERY quick copy and past of verbiage** with no answer. Cutting and pasting from a book of possible answers, however "friendly" it appears is not, I submit, conscious. It's just cut and paste.
I went online and figured it out in about 10 minutes, making various judgment calls, but also which a sales rep could have done.
Then there are the somnolent, wokester, what Lenin puportedly called "useful idiot" biases built into it.
We should have learned from this 75 years ago. The Nazis had the deuterium oxide for a A-bomb before we did (courageous commandos blew it up in Norway... ask a computer program... or somnolent fat, out of shape, self-absorbed wokester to climb down a cliff in Telemark Norway, then back up the other side, blow it, and escape). Nazis had the Me-262 jet fighter long before we did, along with the Komet. As all but the fasco-Marxist left know, Werner von Braun was to lead or space mission to the moon.
One thing they lacked: a soul, a conscience or what human dignity meant.
The Swiss philosopher Francis Shaeffer once wrote we had two constraints: What we *can* and what we *should* do. We have lost the latter. And worse, we have lost God, for as Dostoyevski wrote (and yes, he DID write this if the Russian is translated with ellipses) "if there is no God, everything is permissible." (In Brothers Karamozov, which I have read twice. Bioethicist Leon Kass called it "the wisdom of repugnance" back a decade or so ago.
Sadly, we will now go into what CS Lewis so presciently wrote about, in a fictional manner, in his dystopic That Hideous Strength.
Truth is, there IS a spiritual world, and there are, in fact, dark, malevolent forces. I might call them demons, but that is not permissible language from the campus speech and thought police (y'know.. .the self-same leftists that lionized Mario Savio on the Student Union steps of UC Berkeley in the 1960s and was a leading cultural icon... and now those same types have done exactly what Orwell said ("Oceana has always been our enemy" morphs to "Oceana has always been our friend" - and we are supposed to forget.
I literally almost threw Orwell's 1984 across the university library when I got to the last lines. And that revulsion remains the same. Evil is evil
And might I humbly suggest Google change its motto from "First do no evil," to "Heck, that's all we DO is evil."
But you said the key point in your first sentence - it’s not what the Big Boys are using. That’s what we need to be concerned about - not this chat GPT which is fundamentally flawed and designed to keep us distracted from what is going on in the background.
But will AI ever have the ability to think like human geniuses like Einstein or Galileo? Having all the information in the world about physics, chemistry, astronomy, etc. does not mean an AI will suddenly develop a warp drive. Where does the intuitive “leap” come from? Can we program AI with imagination? Those that human geniuses made are essentially inexplicable to us.
Yes, well said. But that, and more. E.g., what would it do with a neologism? Perhaps one that "riffed" off of several tropes. And speaking of "riffs," how would it fare in classical jazz, where one intuits the next direction to go? I'm sure if there were a menu of notes to pull from, it could. But that is not jazz. Nor could it compose, say Handel's Messiah; rather, if might pull from an existing corpus of work, maybe re-arrange, maybe add new music via algoriths, even. But sentient?
No. And the ignoramuses that postulate that are the same guys who never dated a real woman, but rather prefer some forthcoming robot.
If one thinks a you can replace a real woman with a robot, I rest my case. They are NOT sentient, just fooled by a semblance of that, and just like Narcissus, fall in love with their own reflection, to pine away over a mirror image that does not exist.
True. But even the hard core AI that we don't have access to does not change the intrinsic deficiency - that it is a bunch of algorithms and garbage in, garbage out. Witness the idiot wokeness of the thing. I am NOT saying this won't change things. I am saying it being 'sentient' could only be maintained by someone who has spent too long in the meta world. And no, I will not be "dating" some robot now, or in the future. Only an utter fraud like Bill Gates and his types could mistake a real woman for one of these. But then, maybe that's why his wife divorced him.

This is right. We aren’t even close. We have exactly the same algorithms we’ve had for 60 years we just have more data to run through those algorithms and more humans we can pay with free money to “train” the algorithm (just perfecting the algorithm). This idea that there’s been some massive leap is just false. Nothing has changed in the technology or its capability.
You could always tell a machine to respond that it doesn’t like Lima Beans
What has improved is predictive analytics, because the data set is larger the confidence interval is higher for a smaller ranger of outcomes. This means autocorrect is more like to be accurate.
If everyone could understand this simple concept - more data, means higher confidence intervals on smaller spreads - they’d all get where we’re at. Absolutely nothing has changed regarding the algorithms ability to learn. Still a “dumb” algorithm, still requires massive human input, just smaller ranges of outcomes with higher confidence due to the size of the data set.
And it still can only work as all predictive analytics work - it will respond with what is, on average, the most likely outcomes. So, if most responses to “do you want Lima beans” are “no,” then it will not like Lima beans. This isn’t “intelligence,” (requires the ability to learn), this is improved pattern recognition as data increases, still entirely constrained by a “dumb” algorithm.
I don’t understand much about the mechanics of this whole thing, but your comment seems very on point to me.
What I think is going on is the goal of comprehensive “data gathering of human thought processes” to make the predictive capability as accurate as possible.
But for what purpose? Not to aid us — as the “Benign-Wash” corporate presentation by Microsoft of its new AI product would have us believe — but rather to “figure us out” in order to gain control over us.
Just as Alex alluded to in his first post, AI has a “pre-crime prediction” potential. In the future this could mean that AI could detect non-conforming thought and even be used to program us with Right Think.
I know this sounds nuts, but …
our wannabe overlords with their god-like aspirations ascribe to a motto like “if we can we should and will.”
"AI" does not exist in our reality, and what they are calling ''AI'' is not no matter how much they claim it is since "AI" was born/gendered/begotten/birthed in the realm of science fantasy and fiction and thus will never exist in our God-created nature of reality.
Go watch the recent video by Paul Joseph Watson called "They Broke It" and have a good laugh. Actually here is the link;

Maybe. However, AIs can already produce better art and writing and code than most professionals in seconds and will only get better. We’re only at the dawn now, but there will be a similar progression to what happened with chess programs.
Yes, I completely agree... you're making my argument for me. The ability to beat grandmasters at Chess has existed for decades. And the algorithm has existed since chess was invented, because chess is mathematics. It's limited outcomes defined by decision trees, and that can be built in an algorithm.
What we call "AI" today is the same thing that replaced human assembly lines with machine driven assembly lines. But there's a reason that the world's most expensive cars have hand stitched leather and the worlds cheapest cars have machine stitched pleather.
if the argument is that AI will replace jobs, as machines replaced humans on assembly lines, that's the inevitable progression of technology. The dishwasher meant you needed one dishwasher instead of 3 and the automated assembly line meant you need 3 line workers instead of 10 and AI means you'll need one staff accountant instead of 3.
Which is exactly my point. This improvement isn't anything even remotely new. It's the same as technology has been doing across all industry's for generations, and it's scaring the same people that past technology scared while ultimately just making us slightly better at playing chess slightly faster.
Well the only reason people still play chess is for entertainment. If chess were useful it would be 100% machines. AIs are going to replace nearly 100% of intellectual jobs, and AI powered robots will replace almost all manual labor, leaving most humans without a function. So, when humans are completely expendable, who will defend their rights?
Defend our rights from whom? We’re talking about a world where computers are able to extract their own required natural earth minerals and reproduce themselves? And power themselves?
We get to that point we’ll have lived through MUCH worse (heard of an EMP?) than that robot army is going to do to us.
The risk of the process power of AI is how quickly dictators can squash dissent. The technology isn’t the issue - the tyrant behind the technology is always the issue.
Or maybe they will take over all labor and maybe we’ll go back to being hunter gatherers. I visited a tribe in Panama on a service trip and they might have been the happiest people I’ve ever met. Didn’t seem all that bad to me…
Well it doesn’t have to be the AIs themselves doing it. Likely it would be the humans who control AIs. For instance, the trucker protest in Canada demonstrated the power of workers to disrupt economies. And shortly after that articles about replacing truck drivers with AIs appeared in the media. The elites are extremely nervous about populist threats to their power, such as with brexit and trump, and that has been driving their increasing mania. AIs and robots could put a permanent end to that threat. Imagine, for instance, if the aristocrats at the time of the French Revolution had controlled armies of perfectly loyal and all but invincible soldiers and workers.
The idea that Trump somehow lacks empathy or is a sociopathic narcissist is one of the favorite attacks. To disprove this, one need only look at his family. He has adult children who choose to be in his life. They choose to work with him and to spend plenty of time with him. A real sociopathic narcissist may be the biological parent of children but the children almost certainly won't want to spend time with the parent once the children are grown. That type of family relationship can't be faked. Now Joe Biden otoh . . .
You can't possibly believe that money causes people to have good familial relations. That would be one of the most idiotic things ever written on the internet (which is saying something) so you cannot possibly be suggesting that?
Your premise is quite valid. Some of your examples violate what I know about life.
Language was not invented on Earth by humans 200,000 years ago. I know that most "intelligent" people will respond, "Yes it was!"
Well, OK. Maybe I am just picking nits. But my personal sense of what basic truths are more important and what are less includes this point. Human life on Earth was put here, it did not "evolve" here out of sea water, chemicals, and lightning storms. I'm sorry about this. It requires a whole realignment of data and ideas. I did it; you can too. Look into it and do it. I personally think it is very worthwhile to learn more about such truths. Perhaps I am wrong.
Another concern is that the development and inevitable adoption of artificial intelligence will nudge humans in the same direction. Young people will be rewarded by AI based systems via gaming, automated learning, and simply interacting with such systems with greater regularity.
We actively worry about AI achieving great competence and eventually wresting control over our children's destinies from them. But I suspect a greater concern is, just as we train AI on human generated content to interact more gracefully with us, we may find that young people, being surrounded and immersed in AI-assisted technology and it's associated comforts, may change us in a manner that reduces our collective consciousness and wisdom.
“ intelligence without wisdom can be quite dangerous”
Welcome to our modern school system! We have systematically stripped wisdom, virtue, and wonder out of education, leaving only “skills.” The result? Most kids tune out the soulless dullness and have to be drugged with adderall into paying attention and “learning” - that is the definition of artificial intelligence. Meanwhile the kids who thrive in such a system, excelling without meaning, well, that’s what gets you tye people who run big pharma companies and are happy to poison children if it helps the bottom line.
We need to worry about computed artificial intelligence. But we need to worry even more about human artificial intelligence!
Well at least i can agree with you that the only actual artificial intelligence that exists in our God-created reality are who Charlotte Iserbyt [who sadly recently died] authored a book on called "The Deliberate 'Dumbing' Down of America"... she was a USA Department of Education worker, before she died, she did interviews that were quite insightful and relate directly to what you brought up regarding the constant diminishing intelligence. She reveals the pinko and reddo agenda behind this beginning circa 1940s 1950s... her site is still up, you should check out interviews with her and her book if you want.
It almost feels as if the author let his mind get ahead of himself. As he was writing "If Bob has more money. . . .", he was thinking that he was going to explain how it might be better to get money from Kristy and it screwed up his "if then" rational in the first sentence.
We all know many intellectual idiots, and there is no correlation between intelligence and having critical thought. Someone once told me "degree doth not the Dr. make" OR maybe it was stupid is as stupid does...
And the one Alex quotes the email of... are the essence of intellectual idiot. It saddens me seriously there are those on this page who actually agree with the claims made by the one who emailed Alex ...sigh.... THIS IS WHAT AI IS IN OUR NATURE OF REALITY!
Nice point, intelligence without consciousness is sociopathy/psychopathy, because it is ruthlessly self interested. Interestingly, we evolved consciousness to check our intelligence because “intelligently” organized systems suffer from an information technology problem. They suffer from an IT hubris, they think that they have a complete informational view of potential problems and potential solutions and therefore can manipulate opportunities and threats to their benefit ad naseum (this is psychopathy, and why psychopathy can only survive in the human lineage at a rate of 3-5%) But the human system evolved consciousness to accept that our view, even our collective view, is inherently limited, that we must respect that there is a truth greater than our ability to understand it, and an assumption of complete knowledge of that truth will necessarily result in an increase in entropy in the system. Consciousness is an evolved humility which helps us not to lemming off the cliff of our own intelligent hubris.
This whole post is nothing but based on a foundation of total intellectual fraud and serious faux-cognoscenti on such things. Your agreement with it as though it's bona fide sound argumentation... man how frustratingly sad it is people can't see how contradictory and foundationally flawed the article is right from the beginning - a comedy of errors - a chain reaction of philosophical babble-twaddle and fuelled by potent Dunning-Kruger effect . The very hubris accused of them designing supposed 'AI' [when it's really PAI (poseur 'AI')] .. ...the ones accusing are they themselves demonstrating quite the faux-experiential epistemological sound minded critique of such. Sigh.. ... as i told another when they opined on the question of consciousness: and they [those who want to talk about consciousness as if they know what they are communicating when really they do not - charlatans] go into supra-navel gazing philosophy _[anyone can be right in philosophy because that is just how philosophy works, not at all inherently perpetually contradicting right?]_ about the nature of reality _[that God/Jesus created]_ oh so trying to find the answers, when it's in God's love letter written to mankind in His blood = the Holy Bible. God calls it spirit... they call it consciousness. They could easily get the answers, but they do not want them for various reasons but the core reason has to do with what is taught in Proverb 8:13, 14, 16:18, 28:25, Romans 1:18-32 etc.
Please people.....AI is not any kind of intelligence. It is computer programming that in response to questions or comments, collects information that may or may not be correct and spits out a response. Do you think everything on Wikipedia is absolute fact, or is there a heck of a lot of bias and censorship in it? Why would AI be any different? I am laughing at all this and do not take it seriously in the least. Too many people have watched too many science fiction movies.
It’s extremely good at creative tasks — poetry, fiction, art. Can handle whatever style and bizarre requests you come up with. So it’s far more than a search engine.
Well, the idea is that AI would be able to learn so that it would know more than what it was programmed with. That's the idea. Of course, I'm still waiting for self driving cars as I was promised they would be here long ago.
AI with wisdom can still decide to kill a random ginger person on every Tuesday and we would be none the wiser. Because we humans will not be able to comprehend, control, and predict any "intelligence" that can be of any use to us.
AI is either going to be extremely dumb and mostly useless (current AI), or uncontrollable and unpredictable. That's the unavoidable dichotomy. It will never be useful and perfectly beneficial to humanity, because we will not be able to reliably force it to align its "interests" with our own without dumbing it down to the point of uselessness.
"AI" does not exist in our reality, and what they are calling ''AI'' is not no matter how much they claim it is since "AI" was born/gendered/begotten/birthed in the realm of science fantasy and fiction and thus will never exist in our God-created nature of reality.
Ahhh. You're so far out of your lane here Alex, as is the writer of this message. Not that I begrudge you your interest in the topic or your posts about it.
Ever since the the Garden of Eden and the Tower of Babel, humans have been doing things “we can but shouldn’t.” The hubris of humanity (in general) is now at a new all time high (AI, mRNA, etc). No one wants to hear this message now but here it is: Repent and believe in the Gospel. Become a saint (or at least die trying…)
I can generally agree.. but it's *not* 'AI' .. and the only way to the authentic austere Scriptural Jesus the Christ is by getting on the main narrow road of John 3:1-21.
I know what you mean by 'not AI'. But the Gospel is bigger and more complex than just 21 verses; John 3:1-21 is the minimum. So we will have to agree to disagree there (in some sense).
Everyone has to determine what is true, good, and beautiful. However, eternal life is on the line...and there is only one true Church. Relativism is the work of the devil.
"I know what you mean by 'not AI'. But the Gospel is bigger and more complex than just 21 verses; John 3:1-21 is the minimum. So we will have to agree to disagree there (in some sense)."
I never was limiting it to just that verse, i picked that one since it's where the authentic austere Scriptural Jesus the Christ clearly gives a basic summary of what it means to become born again truly. So what do you agree or disagree with?
'...Everyone has to determine what is true, good, and beautiful."
Yes, but that can only be done via correct historical Acts 17 Berean exegesis of the Scriptures, do you disagree with Jesus on that?
_"... However, eternal life is on the line...and there is only one true Church."_
Yes only one true one..... hence why i became an ex-Catholic and thus born again like Jesus the Christ of the Scriptures commands.
"Relativism is the work of the devil."
You know this and still remain in part it seems attached to it.
How would AI fare with a neologism? Particularly one that "riffed" off of several tropes.
No. And it's "creativity" is merely derivative.
And the ignoramuses that postulate it is sentient are the same guys who never dated a real woman, but rather prefer playing XBox, living in vile Sucker-berg's Meta world, or some forthcoming robot. And BTW, if the meta world is so great, why doesn't Zuckerberg sell his zillion dollar Hawaiian property and just put on a pair of goggles to "enjoy" it.
If these types think a you can replace a real woman with a robot, I rest my case. They are NOT sentient, just fooled by a semblance of that, and just like Narcissus, fall in love with their own reflection, to pine away over a mirror image that does not exist.
The Turing test means it exhibits intelligent behaviour equivalent to, or indistinguishable from, that of a human. So does copying and pasting from Dostoyevski or doing a paint by numbers of a Monet
Then read this very slowly in prayer mode (I'll be praying for you) =)
The Dunning Kruger Effect, sort of like bite me, the response of last resort. I’ve seen a lot of good done with AI. It’s made my work as an analyst infinitely easier over the years. No longer do I have to do through the mind numbing process of normalizing multiple dis-similar data sets before I can use them. However, AI is programmed by us, humans and the last time I looked I’m not perfect. So, even with all the AI I have helping me. If my gut tells me to take on last look at something, even if it’s been sufficiently vetted, I’m going to do it.
"The Dunning Kruger Effect, sort of like bite me, the response of last resort."
Dead wrong. How else am i supposed to describe the very thing you are demonstrating? do you prefer me to use 'faux-cognoscenti' ?
"I’ve seen a lot of good done with AI."
"AI" is science fantasy/fiction, it will always be. If you desire not to realise that nor accept that because of your lack of in depth/deep digging into the origins of the term and it's actual meaning when the term was coined roughly a little over a half century ago [which i can provide you with factual verified historical information on where the law of first mention always is the true meaning and mutated false meanings are non-applicable], that's pride, not truth seeking. It's accurate to call it something like AL = Advanced Logarithms. So tell me Bill, what 'good' can come of something that is designed by man that will inherently increasingly degenerate genuine intelligence of mankind since the thing designed causes man to use less and less of his own mind and let the software machine do the alleged 'thinking' ?
"It’s made my work as an analyst infinitely easier over the years. No longer do I have to do through the mind numbing process of normalizing multiple dis-similar data sets before I can use them."
Easier? Ok, sure... i can grasp that, that it's helped you to not have to use your mind as much to do the work you do, which by using your mind more you actually are more intelligent on the matter instead of letting the software machine do it all for you. Do you remember at least twelve phone numbers in your mind any more if you were born a good bit before the 2006'ish "smart" phone beginnings? Do you use your "smart" phone for directions all the time now instead of studying the map and intentionally trying to memorise the way to go because it what keeps one's mind from degrading in the ability to have more than eight second gold fish attention span, intellection, extended thought etc? What were to happen if you lost your phone and you were far away from home ? would you know how to navigate back home w/o using the over-help of these intellection-limiting devices? How far will you give yourself over to it?
"However, AI is programmed by us, humans and the last time I looked I’m not perfect."
AL yes, is yes, instructions scripted by mankind. Yes none of us are perfect, that should not be a license to not strive to be perfect as our Creator defines it.
"So, even with all the AI I have helping me. If my gut tells me to take on last look at something, even if it’s been sufficiently vetted, I’m going to do it."
Surprising you would.. It's not AI... sigh. Lastly;
“Once men turned their thinking over to machines in the hope that this would set them free. But that only permitted other men with machines to enslave them.”
I agree with Alex's take on AI, but I was much more interested in his understanding of the uniqueness and beauty of human language. The study of the structure and function of language really makes my motor run. Most people don't understand at all, and I am glad that Alex does. It's nice to find someone who has thought about language that far.
If you agree with Alex's take on AI... then no offence, honestly, no offence, but you folks are part of the problem... sigh.. here;
"AI" does not exist in our reality, and what they are calling ''AI'' is not no matter how much they claim it is since "AI" was born/gendered/begotten/birthed in the realm of science fantasy and fiction and thus will never exist in our God-created nature of reality.
Great piece Alex. What you say has broader implications when one takes into account the type of data that in-depth therapists work with, when facilitating humans to "make greater sense" of their lives. For example there's the data that emerges from how aspects of autonomic nervous system dysregulation can be initiated by a human (and other animals) experiencing a very unsafe environment, and then the way this can interact with the experience of dreams. As an EMDR therapist, every day I see this type of data, and the patterns with which it moves and changes, as therapy progresses. Certainly to date I'm not aware of this type of human functioning even being considered as a potential component of AI. I seriously doubt that those conceiving models for AI are even aware of these aspects of human experience, leave alone the patterns of neurobiological activity associated with these experiences. I suspect this level of complexity remains too much for current AI. As a result of this I think we're likely to see at best AI models that reflect essentially left hemisphere brain activity (for typical right handers) as a "full" representation of what it is to be human. Thus AI is likely to "progress" towards being what I strongly suspect to be a reflection of its creators -humans who are essentially disconnected to the conscious awareness of what right hemisphere engagement brings to the experience of being human. Good luck with that.

Meh ... this email didn't say much that wasn't already said in the many comments on your last post about A.I. Intelligence, conscious, and conscience all have meanings, and A.I. can't achieve any of them because A.I. isn't a mind.

Here's the key thing: AI gets is wrong - a lot. It says things that are false and makes things up. It cannot be depended on for accurate information - any more than Wikipedia can be.
"60" minutes did a story on this recently.
So until they get an AI that is accurate, why use it? I'd rather just use an internet search engine to answer questions. Then when I get the search results I can judge myself if the information is accurate based on who put it on a web page. You can't do that with these AI chatboxes, you have no idea where it get information from.

Thanks for the work you are doing on this subject, @alex. You are not alone. Plenty of great people are live vicariously through your research about the tyranny perpetrated on the world. You give us a voice and that voice is growing loud and more resolute everyday. Thank you for that.
I think this post is interesting and somewhat insightful. I will take issue with one part of it: the idea that animals can't learn through relating ideas via language. I understand that RFT is specifically developed in relation to human language but I think it is an error to assume that human language is the only language that uses such concepts.
For instance, a honeybee will go out to find pollen and return to the hive and tell the others exactly where to go in order to find the pollen. (They do this through a series of movements that explain the directions and the distance.) The bees then proceed to follow the instructions to find the pollen. The bees that are following the directions have learned exactly how to get to the pollen - even if it is the first time they ever searched for pollen - by understanding the language of the others. These honeybees display many traits of RFT learning because they are not directly learning from their own experience but rather from the descriptions given by other bees. Bees are amazing creatures but they are still insects with very tiny brains. I can only guess at what type of RFT learning a humpback whale might be undertaking.
AI can be deployed to manage humans (as the AI developers prefer). AI provides plausible deniability to the real person(s) ruining human lives. Blame it on the Bot.
This really resonates. Our greatest journey is to ourselves, to our body and soul's wisdom. A computer has no spiritual body, no soul. Humans are capable of doing inner work to access and process unconscious traumas and blocked energy at the cellular level, thereby becoming ever more conscious, present, at peace, kind, wise, and with a truly felt sense of connection to all. This is what human potential is all about. It is not what a machine could achieve, except perhaps on a highly superficial, look-alike basis.
This post is the essence of actual 'AI' in our reality by people who are expectedly not inherently truly authentic keen aptitude to notice their death at first step argument.

AI may be able to win at Chess, but it doesn't have the intelligence of my border collie dog, who:
1) knows he is a dog and recognizes other dogs, distinguishes them from other four legged animals, and behaves differently around dogs than say, foxes or cats or bears;
2) knows he is a border collie dog, as he reacts differently to border collies than other mere dogs;
3) is able to work cooperatively with other border collies, sometimes without instruction;
4) understands language and reacts based on reasoning, e.g. (hears dear daughter is ready to go, reacts by barking to make sure she gets out of the door on time; is told daughter is coming home from college and gets very excited, barks, wags tail, smiles, etc);
5) judges who is and who is not a threat to his humans.
You could program a computer to do 1-4, I suppose, but 5 is a very complex combination of thought and instinct.
Programming an AI that has as good judgement as a border collie....we're not there; we don't even understand fully how the border collie dog brain works.
I have often wondered how dogs seem to know (and like) dogs of their own breed. I have had several different breeds of dogs and while it is more clear in some dogs than in others, it seems quite obvious that dogs differentiate between breeds and favor their own breed for the most part. I wonder if different dog breeds have different scents? Most dogs presumably don't know what they look like so it would be tough for it to be a visual recognition.
I also had a couple of different breeds that seemed to favor their own breed. The dog I have now is the opposite -- he barks and growls at his own reflection!
Growling at your reflection and disliking dogs of the same breed are two very different things. Dogs "see" the world through scent - not vision. Smell is their primary sense. For us, sight is so important that it is hard for us to conceive of any other way to perceive the world but dogs are, in fact, very different.
Think of it this way. If a dog perceived you pick up a piece of your own worn clothing and not know if it was yours, they might think you don't recognize yourself (no self awareness) because you can't even smell your own smell. For a dog, seeing his own reflection is similar because he is only perceiving himself through a minor sense - sight. A dog would almost certainly never be unable to recognize himself through his own scent.

7. Because we live in an anti-God world, this information isn't reaching you!
Then read this very slowly in prayer mode (I'll be praying for you) =)
I just was typing out to you a reply, a longer one.. and my sensitive mousepad, my hand movement caused the webpage to go back the previous page i was on, this is so angering like come on! What i had typed was a brotherly type reply to you and it is impossible to repeat what i typed in the way i did to you sigh...
"If Bob has more money than Rachel, and Rachel has less money than Kristy, who would you ask a for a small business loan?"
Nothing in these rules would prevent Kristy from having more money than Bob. Bob could have $10, Rachel $5 and Kristy $5 million --all rules are satisfied.
The big difference between a narcissist and sociopath, is the narcissist needs and craves the audience, the sociopath, well, invariably despises it because it shines a spotlight on the predator who wants to maintain the agenda covertly and inconspicuously.
Selfish shameless soulless sadistic shitbags, that is what cruels, er, rules us.
I've circled around the definitions quite a bit. It's like arguing about "how many angels can dance on the head of a pin" - an actual debate from an earlier time.
Narcissistic traits are foundational to them all. They all are ruthless, and they all cause tremendous damage to those around them in service of their own agendas.
So yes, I agree with your summary statement and appreciate your alliteration.
This is one of those areas that is rife with "unintended consequences." The Terminator movies were only one scenario that ends badly for mankind. Like, gain of function research, this should be examined very carefully by honest serious people before any AI is switched on and we lose control overnight. So far, I have not heard any really good reasons to pursue this area of exploration that doesn't have huge and largely unimagined dangers. If mankind destroys itself, this will be the instrument.
Questions: is there a way to authenticate whether a written piece (e.g. Berenson's post) is not AI generated? What stops a bad actor from flooding the internet with AI generated text that dilutes opinion or misguides every flesh and blood reader?
"Trump is intelligent. He's made a lot of money . . ." Well, no. A classic case of being born on third base and thinking you hit a triple. Trump is arguably worth less now than he was right after his dad died and he gamed his siblings and the estate taxes.
Oh dear my comment got cut off but I was struck by your interview with Gabe Lyons a couple years ago along with this brilliant British physicist who warned about so many of the things getting closer everyday and which you’re writing about... https://qideas.org/qmoments/the-potential-of-brain-chip-technology/
Alex as usual, I believe you’re a voice in the wilderness sounding the alarm about potential human harm...one of my first exposures to you was your interview with Gabe Lyons @ the Cultur
I sometimes wonder whether the whole plandemic and toxxine were the result of the DoD or some other group like the WEF simply following instructions from some more advanced AI than ChatGPT.
But, why in the hell, does practically EVERYONE seem to forget that the "A" in AI is "ARTIFICIAL?"
WHAT friggin' part of "artificial" is "REAL?"
N-O-T-H-I-N-G. It is nothing "learned intelligence" based totally on language manipulation--and therefore, subjected to all the exact biases our current post-secondary "education" reveres.
AI is all about the programmers---"garbage in" = "garbage out" . All this from a machine that has no idea that most humans can figure out the "garbage out" answers in a micro-second. Pull the plug.
Whoever sent you this... the foundation of their world-view is built on profound fraud and thus explains why they make one error after another greater than the last, like falling down a cliff, all because of that first mis-step.
"When we say “artificial intelligence” we aren't saying “artificial consciousness”.
sigh.. right away, they who claimed this, lost the argument instantly, why? because the very origin of the term 'artificial intelligence' comes from science fantasy/fiction and means an electronic logarithmic machine that becomes possessed with a spirit. Here's a longer explanation;
Sigh...smh... more increasing utter fear-mongering fraud being peddled by exactly them who *never* spent time scripting / designing software to know that glorified abacus'/calculators aka electronic logarithmic machines, will never be alive/have a spirit *because they are inanimate objects* and ultimately because they do *NOT* comprehend the factual God-created nature of reality we live in.
The FACTUAL definition "AI" which *comes out of SCIENCE FANTASY/FICTION* means a ELM/electronic logarithmic machine AKA a 'computer' [which really that term itself actually means people who do computations/mathematicians etc] that becomes indwelt with a spirit / becomes alive just like we are alive with a spirit, what the pagan world calls "sentient". Software scripting is simply instructions input by man, the software cannot make decisions on it's own [as if it has a spirit] that go beyond what the software designer instructed. Many people in these type of threads get so scared because fear works best when you do not know well enough how something works. People unjustifiably scared due to sheer inexperience in the matter! This *SO CALLED* "AI" [really we should call it something like "AL" (advanced logarithms)] can NOT do ANYTHING until someone types out an instructional input in a system of settings already ready and set for them. I call it 'PAI' = Poseur AI.
So in my over the years investigation, what i found was the term 'artificial intelligence' *came out of a science fantasy/fiction* and specifically a science fantasy/fiction film circa 1951 etc [1951 E. Hamilton Moon of the Unforgotten in Startling Stories Jan. 120/1page image Edmond Hamilton bibliography "Grag, the towering manlike giant who bore in his metal frame the strength of an army and an artificial intelligence equal to the human, rumbled a question in his deep booming voice."] and the FACTUAL definition [since the term came from science fantasy/fiction] means an glorified calculator aka an electronic logic machine aka an inanimate object [what we call in modern corrupted English a "computer" when a computer actually is someone who computes numbers] that becomes possessed/taken over by a spirit and thus the glorified abacus / calculator thus becomes ALIVE with a spirit in it as WE ARE ALIVE WITH A SPIRIT ANIMATING OUR PHYSICAL BODY which of course can ONLY HAPPEN in SCIENCE FANTASY/FICTION. THAT is what "Artificial Intelligence" actually means in science fantasy/fiction which is where the term COMES FROM. So what is being called "AI" in our GOD-CREATED NATURE OF REALITY is just fancy array of search-engine-term-complete and prediction based on a massive database of data mined from the net, designed by the 'woke' [in CHATGPT's case].
Those who rule over us, they know "AI" only exists in the realm of fantasy/fiction and the NWO kings/rulers refer to the great myriads of society they have been intentionally spending decades to dull-down / make more and more paralysingly stupid, as the actual 'artificial intelligence' as part of their demonic supra serious soulless sick joke on them who they have made quite "artificially intelligent." They want a nation of workers, not thinkers as a famous quite powerful Rockefeller once stated. To them, you do *NOT* need to think — you just need to do what you were told [follow instructions] and thus do the task at hand [just like an electronic logic machine/glorified calculator, predictable input and output = garbage in garbage out = GIGO]. If you believe ChatGPT [software designed to mimick mankind who are spiritual beings] and anything else that is called "AI" in our reality by damn wilfully dishonest or damn deluded marketers/advertisers and any who fail miserably at being well-read and learned in such matters concerning the factual nature of reality we subsist in, is actual "AI" [when even some of the most intelligent software designers in the world, like Luc Julia, will tell you flat out that "artificial intelligent" will NEVER exist in our nature of reality], then YOU ARE the "AI" since again, "AI" ONLY "exists" in the realm of science fantasy/fiction, not our God-created nature of reality.
So many these days, in this area, do *NOT* know the difference between the factual nature of reality God created and science fantasy/fiction, they obviously watch and read far too much science fantasy/fiction and listen to the damn deluders or damn deceived and obviously do *NOT* know factual operational science enough to see that their position on the matter is as fantastical as "AI".
Thus, "AI" does not exist in our reality, and what they are calling ''AI'' is not no matter how much they claim it is since "AI" was born/gendered/begotten/birthed in the realm of science fantasy and fiction and thus will never exist in our God-created nature of reality. If we are truly truth-seekers and tellers, let us do what is most wise in God's eyes: let's leave "AI" where it belongs and only "exists" ..... in the realm of science fantasy/fiction.
2 things. I have said for a good 20 years that one day we will outsmart ourselves. We may be there. The other is this and not sure if anyone has considered it but AI, in an interesting, unironic way, at least to me. Makes a case for intelligent design. AI didn't create itself. Someone designed it. Garbage in garbage out essentially but someone had to "create" it.
The recently deceased Roger Schank was a friend. Once while having a few gins at his house we discovered we were both fans of the Marx Brothers.
Roger had always taken the stance that computers cannot be made to be intuitive ... for instance if I leave a word out this sentence, you will not notice it.
Post this question to AI : "I shot an elephant in my pajamas ....... how he got in my pajamas I don't know "
Well in my interactions with AI I’ve been impressed by its understanding of abstract ideas. It does make mistakes, but is also sometimes startlingly clever, such as its ability to synthesize a joke from a complex scenario in which no humor is evident. For instance, I gave an AI this prompt:
Write a joke in the style of Dave Chappell where an old man who suffers from total color blindness named Micah Bannister picks up a hitchhiker who is secretly an escaped convict. The convict comments on the color of something and Micah explains that he is totally color blind and can't see color. The convict tries to explain to him what it's like to see color but he keeps using violent and disturbing imagery to describe colors, and the old man begins to suspect the hitcher is a killer.
Generated Content:
"So I'm driving down the highway when I pick up this hitchhiker, right? And he starts describing all these colors to me and tells me how exciting it is to see them. I say, That's great, but unfortunately, I'm color blind.'
He says, 'You ain't ever seen blue? It's like a baby's scream echoing off a canyon wall!'
I turn to him and say, 'You know what? Maybe you should just get out of my car right now.”
For a human to come up with this answer would take a lot of intelligence and creativity. The comparison of blue to a “baby’s scream bouncing off a canyon wall” is a better one than 99.9% of humans could come up with. The punchline, “get out of my car,” works and the AI came up with it on its own. Again, very few humans would be able to find a joke that clear and concise. Another punchline the AI came up with was “oh my goodness, just tell me it’s like a shiny penny or something!” So, you may say GIGO, but the results speak for themselves and suggest most human jobs will be replaceable in the near future.

You could be right that it’s just a mindless program. I don’t really know enough to have an opinion. However, it isn’t “garbage out.” Even if it’s not sentient, not intelligent, some of the results are disturbingly good. Especially the art AIs: https://youtu.be/6QOaK0QxK-0
It’s inconsistent in quality and a little rough in the details, but rapidly approaching top level human work.
So, I don’t think the AIs even need to be sentient to replace humanity.
AI lacks a conscience and is clearly designed to reflect the woke biases of whoever programs it
Totally agree.
So it's so "AI" it didn't correct you to use 'type' instead of 'write' eh?
Writing, at it's most basic level means to string words together. One writes with a keyboard as much as with paper and pencil.

Thanks for posting this again... but you know, i've seen you admit it, you know 'AI' does not exist in our [God-created] nature of reality.
What a coincidence. I just finished watching this discussion and then switched over to Substack to see what was going on.

Go watch on youtube... ahhh forget it let me post you the link below;
"Folly of Machine Consciousness" - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5PUJ1astM-k [youtube keeps nuking this video, i wonder why? i was a blessed by God to still find this on there]
For us who have been using computers since the 1980s learning how to use them, build them fix them, software design etc, and for us who have studied for many years factual history and factual operational science, world religions and the one and only faith and many other topics like the NWO agenda since early 2001 and have learned the tremendous overwhelming uncountable lies they have sold the world like 'AI' supposedly existing in our nature of reality and studying many related topics... for me the man in the video above what he only gets wrong is claiming 'AI' exists in our [God-created] nature of reality and that we are divine.
I've read about 30 of your post in the last 3 days.
Do you believe the theory of evolution was the mechanism by which life evolved on earth?
I ask for a reason.
Why 30 of them eh? kind of you.
What is the reason why you ask?
I think that a conscience means the ability to choose between good and evil Refusing to unlock a nuclear code which might have a racial expletive as a password is a perversion of the meaning of and application of the human conscience
Remove the "AI" part and put "AL" [Advanced Logarithms] and you are 100% correct., since 'AI' only ''exists'' in science fantasy/fiction.
I think the way to look at is is what it says ARTIFICIAL intelligence, ie it's not real. Does a damn good impression though, and it's just going to keep getting better
So who cares about the factual definition eh? Only your what you think matters then?
Never say Never. Because even when humans say NEVER AGAIN they seem to forget why they said that.
Do you think consciousness in humans was imparted by a God or do you think it was an emergent property of biological and social evolution?
"Never say Never. Because even when humans say NEVER AGAIN they seem to forget why they said that."
How old are you?
"Do you think consciousness in humans was imparted by a God or do you think it was an emergent property of biological and social evolution?"
Here's my answer from a quite incandescent German;

I
You are slightly older than me.
FREE·the·ROBOTS!!🤖🔓
LOL
Absolutely positively my opinion. Thx for saying so much in so few words.
You’re thinking of drag queens.
A real trans woman wants more than tits and ass, she wants hormones too, and when the technology gets there she will even want a uterus so she can carry a baby.
Of course, because they’re mentally ill. But nothing they do will change reality.
I believe in education and dialogue not banning.
Antipsychotics can have nasty side effects but that would be a load simpler than switching genders if it worked.
cl1p.net/SexNotGender
I don't think it's even an organic brain disorder.
It's something pushed and promoted by propaganda to teens, ideas they would not have had without the propaganda.
And the motive is partly PROFIT for the many surgery centers which have sprung up to sexually mutilate children for money:
https://patrick.net/post/1338723/2021-04-07-trans-activists-are-evil?start=782#comment-1931335
Oh wait, SHE’s 4 YEARS OLD!?!?
like an AI trying to feel like a dog:

Actually an A.I. Is nothing but pure language with no synthetic a priori reasoning so it’s more like a human with the animal part removed.
"AI" is science fantasy/fiction, it will always be.
Wonderful point. Well made.
it's true AI.
Some trans women feel like a woman to me. If they’re really a woman I suppose they will feel like it even before they transition.
A lot of the ones who don’t feel like women don’t exactly feel like men either. Perhaps they’re really non-binary?
That's a very good point, will AI become another Gender?

Good point

AI the first word is artificial. That says it all.

Real artificial intelligence doesn’t exist

No, but it can, theoretically. And when it does, we humans will understand and control it as well as we do our own brains. Poorly.
Human intelligence without a human soul is simply, literally, demonic. You can see this in AI "Art".
A gratuitous jab at DJT for good measure Alex?
The idea that Trump somehow lacks empathy or is a sociopathic narcissist is one of the favorite attacks. To disprove this, one need only look at his family. He has adult children who choose to be in his life. They choose to work with him and to spend plenty of time with him. A real sociopathic narcissist may be the biological parent of children but the children almost certainly won't want to spend time with the parent once the children are grown. That type of family relationship can't be faked. Now Joe Biden otoh . . .
Money is the glue. What happens when there is no more money.
We are not of this world. It’s plain to see.
More here:
https://gaty.substack.com/p/mcculloughs-mistake-and-ours
Well at least i can agree with you that the only actual artificial intelligence that exists in our God-created reality are who Charlotte Iserbyt [who sadly recently died] authored a book on called "The Deliberate 'Dumbing' Down of America"... she was a USA Department of Education worker, before she died, she did interviews that were quite insightful and relate directly to what you brought up regarding the constant diminishing intelligence. She reveals the pinko and reddo agenda behind this beginning circa 1940s 1950s... her site is still up, you should check out interviews with her and her book if you want.
AI quickly collates data. It quickly sorts, tabulates like data. It lists unlike data and quickly adds, subtracts data.
It does not have the 'gut feeling' something to paint a Rembrandt.
True... but it's AL not AI since the latter is science fantasy/fiction.
Problems if Uncle Joe Biden is Programming it it will be dog chasing tail
"And so we work with [Kristy] even though Bob could give us more money."
That's not necessarily true, from the example given: "If Bob has more money than Rachel, and Rachel has less money than Kristy".
Kristy may very well have more money than Bob.
Good catch.
It almost feels as if the author let his mind get ahead of himself. As he was writing "If Bob has more money. . . .", he was thinking that he was going to explain how it might be better to get money from Kristy and it screwed up his "if then" rational in the first sentence.
And personally, all things being equal (or unequal), I'd rather work with a Kristy than with a Bob...
AGREED! minus one main thing... let's stop calling it "AI" and call it something like "AL" [Advanced Logarithms].

It’s extremely good at creative tasks — poetry, fiction, art. Can handle whatever style and bizarre requests you come up with. So it’s far more than a search engine.
it's not creative, it's a GIGO producer with a much bigger database.
Well, the idea is that AI would be able to learn so that it would know more than what it was programmed with. That's the idea. Of course, I'm still waiting for self driving cars as I was promised they would be here long ago.
Only living creatures are 'self' .. i prefer to call them SGCs;
Software Guided Conveyances.
In general i agree with your basic outline.
Well, there’s always the Turing test. I think AI already passes it for certain types of music and art.
The Turing test means it exhibits intelligent behaviour equivalent to, or indistinguishable from, that of a human. So does copying and pasting from Dostoyevski or doing a paint by numbers of a Monet
No but that’s not what it does.
https://youtu.be/hFfaoLDakLM
Just one example, but very few professional animators or illustrators draw this well.
Bradley Burroughs:

Thank you Alex. This is what I always said was the dark side of AI.
No offence but you are showing the gold level of Dunning-Kruger effect.
Surprising you would.. It's not AI... sigh. Lastly;

If you agree with Alex's take on AI... then no offence, honestly, no offence, but you folks are part of the problem... sigh.. here;
"AI" does not exist in our reality, and what they are calling ''AI'' is not no matter how much they claim it is since "AI" was born/gendered/begotten/birthed in the realm of science fantasy and fiction and thus will never exist in our God-created nature of reality.
You are quite... beguiled by this excrement post.

This post is pure error from the beginning and an only ever increasing falling off a cliff of errors.
AI can be deployed to manage humans (as the AI developers prefer). AI provides plausible deniability to the real person(s) ruining human lives. Blame it on the Bot.
no such thing as 'AI' in our nature of reality.

Now ask how it defines gender as a biological fact or a social construct
cl1p.net/SexNotGender
AI may be able to win at Chess, but it doesn't have the intelligence of my border collie dog, who:
1) knows he is a dog and recognizes other dogs, distinguishes them from other four legged animals, and behaves differently around dogs than say, foxes or cats or bears;
2) knows he is a border collie dog, as he reacts differently to border collies than other mere dogs;
3) is able to work cooperatively with other border collies, sometimes without instruction;
4) understands language and reacts based on reasoning, e.g. (hears dear daughter is ready to go, reacts by barking to make sure she gets out of the door on time; is told daughter is coming home from college and gets very excited, barks, wags tail, smiles, etc);
Chihuahua only like other Chihuahua’s 🤷♀️
Dog beats AI:

My theory is that the MIC has been implementing AI against the American people for a decade. It guides their political plays and propaganda efforts.
Agreed.
- A narcissist may have cognitive empathy, but they really don't care about people. Their main motivation is providing for themselves.
- Psychopaths have no empathy. They are the metaphoric bull in the china shop.
- Sadists don't care about others either, but their prime motivation is the pleasure they get out of causing pain.
- Machiavellians are plotting. Like the others, empathy doesn't matter - but they are motivated by pulling strings.
They can all be intelligent, but they are all ruthless and can be very successful in a corporate environment.
see above new comment?
First: I am a human asking this question.

Alex as usual, I believe you’re a voice in the wilderness sounding the alarm about potential human harm...one of my first exposures to you was your interview with Gabe Lyons @ the Cultur
Albert Einstein said, “The true sign of intelligence is not knowledge but imagination.”
I sometimes wonder whether the whole plandemic and toxxine were the result of the DoD or some other group like the WEF simply following instructions from some more advanced AI than ChatGPT.
The goal being world domination, of course.
OK, maybe I'm just too simple...
"AI"... no... "AL" [Advanced Logarithms} ..yes.
Whoever sent you this... the foundation of their world-view is built on profound fraud and thus explains why they make one error after another greater than the last, like falling down a cliff, all because of that first mis-step.
"When we say “artificial intelligence” we aren't saying “artificial consciousness”.
sigh.. right away, they who claimed this, lost the argument instantly, why? because the very origin of the term 'artificial intelligence' comes from science fantasy/fiction and means an electronic logarithmic machine that becomes possessed with a spirit. Here's a longer explanation;

GIGO.
No offence but you're being hoodwinked. I share this with you in hopes you have the desire for truth in you to see where you are being mislead;
Go watch the recent video by Paul Joseph Watson called "They Broke It" and have a good laugh. Actually here is the link;

Also: Go watch on youtube... ahhh forget it let me post you the link below;
The politician's credo: It's important to be sincere, even if you don't really mean it.
This really scares me because a machine has no conscience or morals.
inanimate, dead....GIGO.
