This is one of your finest pieces, Alex! Superb summary of the stupidity with just enough snark, not too much, to make it fun reading!

Agreed, this was a good one! I was smile smirking as I read every sentence. Will we get analysis on the flat Earth theory though?

I predict that when people look back on the COVID period in 50 or 100 years (assuming we're not all killed in a nuclear war most of the media seems intent on starting) they will struggle to understand how we could have been so STUPID.

Will they?

Thank you for using "Whomever" correctly. As a former teacher of grammar, I have many cringe moments reading comments. It is a blessing and a curse.

There had been plenty dark eras throughout human history, probably too many to mention; yet our Republic became the most powerful, the most educated, the richest and fair. As the times when some purchased other humans, the era changed to allow those of us who chose to work to get as far ahead as far their goals brought us. (Sorry... I'm "deplorably" optimistic)

Never apologize for being an optimist.

I’m just a cynic who’s read too many history books to see how Republics end. And, I’m afraid we are winding down and no one is stopping it.

Indeed, lugubrious times; but there is always light at the end of every tunnel. When I read comments here, and other threads, I see so many of us shortening the way to the light. Dark entities historically and inevitably succumb into their darkness.

Often times the false narrative carries through history. Many on the Left still refuse to believe a communist killed JFK and prefer the theory a racist Texan did it.

You’re right about the carryover. People like to extend their current narrative belief into the past, rewriting history if necessary.

At one point Galileo was an outcast, as was DaVinci... guess it depends on who controls the narrative more than the science.

To refute science, scientists developed the "scientific method" or by definition "The scientific method is an empirical method of acquiring knowledge that has characterized the development of science since at least the 17th century. It involves careful observation, applying rigorous skepticism about what is observed, given that cognitive assumptions can distort how one interprets the observation.

Why are people being outcasted in society for wanting to carefully observe and apply rigorous skepticism? That is my biggest issue with the vaccines. Not to mention to unabashed "do as I say, not as I do, for most politicians".

We made our bed with these politicians and now we cannot get rid of the cesspool without tearing down the infrastructure. These stories all make me sad but determined.

With institution of the American Medical Association, physicians were no longer allowed to prescribe natural remedies. Their medical licenses were threatened or revoked for prescribing anything other than pharmaceutical drugs. There is big money in big Pharma. And the government has its hands all in it. Now, it seems, doctors are only taught in medical school to be drug pushers.

Kyrie Irving isn’t the only person in the world who faces any sanction at Barclays Center for refusing to take an mRNA shot.

I haven’t been able to work at any NYC sports venue, where I’ve previous worked as a freelance audio mixer for television broadcasts, since December. I was terminated by MSG Network on July 12, 2021 (which I’ve worked for since 1998) while I was attempting to work out an exemption, while I was being treated for recurrent cancer with distant metastasis. They didn’t notify me that I was terminated. I realized it when I wasn’t asked to work any 2021-22 NHL dates when they were released in late summer 2021. This summary termination was rationalized by MSG’s HR senior director Faye Mclaughlin Legares (she/her/hers) with a 5 word explanation: “accommodation would pose direct threat” which is a strange claim given I had worked for them unvaxxed during ‘the raging pandemic’ in the same places and conditions as exist in the workplace after my termination date, and there was no talk of me being a threat to anyone then.

I was still working for YES network on Nets games at the Barclays Center and Yankees games at Yankees stadium, however. I was asked to mix game 5 of the Nets Celtics series at the Barclays Center on June 1, 2021 which was my 2nd job back after 4 cycles of platinum-based chemotherapy, and a tall order given the condition I was in. I was asked to mix the subway series for YES shortly afterwards; another tall order, but I was happy to do it being quite bored from sitting home 10 of the previous 18 months (5 months due to sports venues being locked down and 5 months for full time cancer treatment).

When the Nets 2021-22 season was winding up I was asked to work media day at Barclays Center. I asked if the Barclays center would consider a vax exemption. I was told no, so I’ve not been able to work at Barclays since fall 2021 even after YES Network later granted me a medical exemption. Last week I was told that I can’t work at Yankees stadium after working there through ‘the raging pandemic.’

I still haven’t even tested positive yet, 3 winters into ‘the raging pandemic’ while many of my fully vaxxed colleagues have had covid, some multiple times. Pandemia has driven some of them insane. Some have started whisper campaigns and tried to drive me out of the workplace while telling me “I love you” and that I should get vaxxed because, “It’s a pandemic of the unvaccinated.” This was happening in places that had no vaccine policy in place under employers who wanted me to be there despite my vax status. The branch covidians were emboldened to make up their own policy and enforce it ruthlessly.

Union reps I’ve asked for help (who have no medical training whatever) have advised me to get vaxxed. They’ve casually dismissed my prior adverse reaction to flu vaccine and MMR booster and history of reactions to other medications and my religious objections. One has repeatedly called me a moron, conspiracy theorist etc. Another told me to “fuck off.”

For me, as the theatre of lifting of covid restrictions rolls out, things are only getting much worse. The few people who were inclined to help me seem to be growing tired of the extra work and stress involved with getting an unvaxxed pariah onto a job site. A crewing outfit with ambitions to control the entire industry, Chicago based Program Productions Incorporated is evidently attempting to make every job in the country vaxxed-and-boosted only, even in Florida where if I understand correctly, vax mandates are illegal. This company has replaced me on jobs (which require a high degree of technical training and ability) with warm bodies whose only qualification is that they’ve taken a vax that doesn’t prevent disease, where it has been all hands on deck for everyone else on the job to carry their workload to barely get a show on the air.

I could fill a book with other details not appropriate for a substack comment. Maybe I will. The vax mafia and their accomplices in the sports broadcast industry are kinda forcing me into another line of work.

Your story reads like an excerpt of Schindler’s List and is sickening. These people are tyrants who take glee in controlling and destroying other people and I no longer believe they think it’s about public safety. It’s become an irrational cult.

If Mayor Adams buckles, letting Kylie Irving play ball in Bklyn, he’s going to have to buckle on his moronic NYC vaccine mandate for Cops, Fireman, and Teachers as well. Unlike Kylie Irving those folks are barely getting by financially on a good day. Now they’re being put on “unpaid leave” for refusing the jab. At this point the jab has nothing to do with health and everything to do with compliance.

What’s happening to Kyrie is irrational and unfair, but what’s happening to ‘front line workers’ who worked through ‘the raging pandemic’ is cruelty. As you point out, they’re far from wealthy. They can’t collect on the unemployment and medicaid they’ve paid into and should be there for them.

If I understand right, Kyrie is at least partially motivated to bring attention to these people and others, lower wage workers at the Barclays Center who object to these “vaccines.” If this is true, he deserves a lot of respect for this sacrifice. It’s telling that so few people have recognized this virtue and many have mocked him for it.

Expand full comment

This speaks to Kyrie's character. What was that expression, you can tell a lot about a person's character by how he treats others that can be of no use to him (say a waitress/waiter).
