A "very senior infectious disease epidemiologist" just called me a grifter (while whining about his salary)...
... which is funny, since as all of you know basically all the stories on here are free within a day or two. My reply is below.
Just wait until Francois Balloux (a self-proclaimed Corona “centrist” with 150,000 Twitter followers who called for lockdowns a full year after the epidemic started) hears about the $100+ billion Pfizer and Moderna have have made selling jabs.
The last time I heard from Balloux was November, when he was among the screechers saying that Omicron was going to take China over a cliff because the Chinese hadn’t jabbed their oldsters enough.
Actual quote: China will face “massive morbidity and mortality, which could be amplified by a collapse of the entire healthcare system.”
THE ENTIRE HEALTHCARE SYSTEM, PEOPLE.
Can’t make it up. Though he did.
Back on Planet Earth, China is basically done with Covid two months later. Another win for the epidemiologists! (This is not 20/20 hindsight, by the way. I called Balloux out on it at the time.)

But, really, I am tired of being called a grifter when everyone who subscribes does so voluntarily - and in full knowledge that I have no sacred cows and will chase what I think is the truth even if it’s likely to annoy you.
Feel free to convert to a paid subscription (or founding membership if you would like a signed PANDEMIA) if the mood strikes. There’s no better way to show Professor Balloux how wrong he is.
If not, no worries - everything will remain free, as always.
The virus botherers and the vaccinators draw in untold millions in grants, count among their ranks some of the most well-compensated mass and social media personalities in the world, they've made billions supporting coercive vaccination programs and selling shitty pharmaceuticals to governments all over the world, they're complicit in all manner of human rights violations and economic destruction – but the gRIfTerS are a few bloggers with relatively modest online readerships.
Balloux cultivates an online following via a careful balancing act that I doubt convinces anyone on any side of this discussion. It always feels like he's self-consciously throwing a bone to one crowd or the other.
This "professor" is a perfect example why the gap between a person's intelligence and their education level is growing ever wider.
