I’ve been getting a lot of notes like this lately…
I know, it’s been a while. I’d love to tell you I just delivered a new novel and it’ll be out this summer.
Unfortunately not. If you want John Wells back (or if you enjoyed the adventures of the Unsworths in The Power Couple), you will have to wait a while. I hope to get back to fiction next year, which would mean 2025 would be the earliest publication date. This is the flipside of the Stack, which is very much a full-time job.
I wish I had better news. I’d try to get ChatGPT to write one for me, but I don’t think it would work (I certainly hope it wouldn’t).
BTW, if you have NOT read the Wells novels, you’re missing out. I recommend you start with The Faithful Spy - only $5.99 on Kindle or $9.99 paperback. 3,868 reviews can’t be wrong!
Alex, I've read most of the major authors in the spy genre, and the Wells series is one of the best. I really hope you're able to get back to it someday. As an aside, I'm wondering if the research you did for those books gives you any insight into recent geopolitical events like the spy balloon, Sy Hersh's article on the US blowing up Nord 2, etc...
Alex can be quite the elitist liberal nincompoop but his novels are fantastic reads. He's an extremely gifted writer even if he can't figure out the difference between a journalist who lives in the facts and a scientist who lives in the possible...
The Faithful Spy is the best thriller novel I’ve ever read, and I have read just about every spy thriller written by major authors since the 1990s. The Wells series is also my favorite series, and I’ve read most of those, too!
I’m disappointed as a fan, but Alex is doing important things, so I will support him no matter what!
Love the Wells novels! Looking forward to getting a new one next year. I wish it was sooner but understand you are working full time. However, my mom is 96…and she’s read the whole Wells series. So…if you can knock one out faster, she’d be very grateful! As would I! ❤️
OK, I admit it. I miss John Wells, too. Maybe crank one out to cleanse our palettes. I miss the end of a story where the world is saved and the smart-ass wins. 2025 is OK, but a Project Warp Speed on this would be better.
I've read the whole Wells series. Good stuff. Wish I didn't have to wait a couple more years for the next one, but let's face it, the state of the world and the weakness of this administration have provided fodder for plenty of stories/authors to keep me entertained while waiting.
Around 2010 I was at the USO in Kuwait heading into AFG for a year when I picked up my first John Wells novel; I think it was #2 or 3 in the series. After binge reading, I sent a request to my wife to push me the other Wells book(s) I missed out on. Then, while following Alex online to see when the next in the Wells series would be released, I learned that he was going to be on my base in AFG doing some research for another project. Long story short… Alex is as cool in person (we had a few coffees) as John Wells and it’s been amazing to see where his career has taken him. To state the obvious… Alex’s contribution to the covid discussion (among others) has been invaluable. That said, I’m looking forward to more John Wells!
The John Wells stories are all 5 Star, and worth the time and cost (I read them all). However, Alex, the work you've done on the Chinese covid info, on Twitter, free speech, time on Tucker Carlson, recognizing all the talented, honest, medical people we're lucky to have, plus the medical people who choose to be corrupt and or criminal (Fauchi, Berx, Pfizer, et al), is a much more important and valuable use of your skills and time. Please keep up the great and important work. thanks
I have read all off the John Wells novels and enjoyed them. I have missed them as it was easy and entertaining to go from one to another! I recommend them for folks who like CIA spy novels!
Just this afternoon, I was boxing up a ton of books to take to a thrift shop, and I paused over my John Wells pile, sighed, and wished for another one. Then I sighed again and thought, "But Alex has been SO busy these past few years..."
Highly recommend this novel and the entire series. I wish I could remember how I discovered Alex's spy novels, but I do remember researching his background. I found myself surprised (pleasantly) that a NY Times reporter could produce a nuanced spy novel that did not lean left or disparage the professional field agent. I hope Alex does return to John Wells.
I’ll add to the lists of accolades: as a big fan of spy novels, the John Wells series is fantastic, and the Faithful Spy is exactly the book to gift someone to turn them onto the genre and the John Wells series! It is far better fiction than what the New York Times and The Washington Post are putting out these days! And unlike them, Alex was honest and labeled his novels as fiction . . .
I have read every John Wells book as well as the Power Couple. Great, great books. Love and miss them. Particularly John Wells. But Alex has been serving his country and his world by truth telling about pseudo science and governments lying to the citizenry. Alex deserves a prize. Is there a Nobel Prize for Truth? He should get it if there is. Keep it up. Even if it means I have to forego John Wells a few more years.
Read them all. Loved them all. Didn't see how you could stay on top of the pandemia( read that too) and write the fiction. Hope the world turns down the level of insanity to get back to more genteel pursuits. My own novel has been stuck in rewrite for awhile.

Somewhere, Michael Crichton is amused but not surprised.

Brilliant Carol! THAT is an excellent way to incentivize Alex. Blessings to your Mom.

This is the first mention here I've seen of your novels. Dove into them a while back and really enjoyed them. You're a talented man!!!
Read the whole series, then read it again! I miss John...
Sounds great Alex. Maybe it can be about the spy balloons. Wow what a crazy time.
I keep waiting for John Wells to show up and save the day!
Read them all
Loved all your fiction. Thrilled there’s a new book coming!!
Just finished Ghost War - working my way through the series!
Power Couple was very good.
Just started John Wells 10 - TheWolves. Enjoyed them all so far

I have read all of your novels. Would gladly read new ones.
Yes! WE MISS JOHN WELLS!!!
A writer named Wells has written great futuristic Sci-Fi.

I have read all the Wells novels and liked them very much.
I’ve read all of his books. Loved every one!!
Fiction writing in so many topics except the Chinese Communist virus
Waiting in the wings for your next novel...
The Faithful Spy is one of the best spy novels and probably my favorite. I have been recommending it for years.
The Wells series is equal to the late great Vince Flynn's Rapp series. Well crafted and immensely entertaining.
I had no idea you wrote fiction. Will
Be checking this out on Audible for sure!
Alex, since your last, I decided to again read John Wells’s first. You were GOOD! I may have to go through the series again.
I used to read Ludlum. Then 9/11 happened. I was Red Pilled. Inside job.
In the Amercian jingo novels, the "rebels" the CIA was fighting against were in reality the good guys - fighting against a US installed puppet regime.
If Wells is CIA, then I am concerned if I would enjoy.
Loved Millennium Series and reading Camilla Lackberg.
Thrillers can be fun, but they can’t compare with the crazy stuff we’ve been going through over the past 3 years! Who would believe it?
I love your spy novels and look forward to more to come!
Just ordered The Faithful Spy from Amazon 🤩
Thanks!
Take a dam break from Wu Flu and write another novel. Please.
We love your Wells series, Alex.

Alex,
I appreciate your research intensive work on Covid and the Vaccines. Your interviews on Fox were a beacon in the Night!
I also thoroughly enjoyed each of your John Wells Novels. A new John Wells would be very welcomed and a relief from Reality!
The best novels!
Totally enjoying the John Wells’ novels. I bought the whole set at once so they could be read in order.
John Wells has managed to get my husband reading books again!! 👏👏👏
I’ve read them. They’re good. How ‘bout I write one for you and you can pay this ghost?

IMO: Another interesting novel: https://maggierusso.substack.com/p/dance-with-the-devil

I've read a few John Wells novels, and Alex, if you read your comments, how about a new novel where John Wells puts Fauci in prison...
I really enjoyed all the Wells novels, too. 😊
The Faithful Spy- great read.... love them all...
Nobody speaks Pushtun, Alex. Didn't you do your own research?
Read them all. Loved them all. Didn't see how you could stay on top of the pandemia( read that too) and write the fiction. Hope the world turns down the level of insanity to get back to more genteel pursuits. My own novel has been stuck in rewrite for awhile.
