Ok, I’m feeling a bit left out here. I feel I should be able to buy a T shirt with UTNFM on it. Unreported Truths Non Founding Member! Really though, there’s a big gap between $6 a month (or $72 a year) and $300 a year. I could do $150 a year happily, but $300 makes my billfold blanch. I should still like a T shirt. How about UT$150 CNFM - maybe that’s too much I guess. The C is for Cheapskate.
Wished I’d known about Blue Deep last week when Amex called and asked if I’d
made that purchase. I said no, they said your card has been compromised so they fed exed me a new one. Which I promptly used to renew my subscription after a few e mails from you telling me my payment did not go through. DOH!
Jim ... that happened to me this past March, too. It took several disparate points to conclude I was dealing with Alex's Substack. I wrote to him because I was concerned someone was messing with him ... might have hacked his account. I was already through at least three rounds with AMEX by that point (and several new credit cards) before Alex responded to me and began to clear things up for me. He was very kind to me. He was as baffled as I was. His instructions in this particular column sound very much like my issues. LOL! Whatever is going on with AMEX ... his "Blue Deep" acted like some sort of trigger or flag. I have never had Amex do that to me ... and we have been customers for nearly 40 years. Good luck!
I’m glad they flag things, my card has been compromised before and they caught it. This is a first for me. Making it even more confusing, the day I got the notice from them we were on a day trip. When I googled Blue Deep (alex didn’t come up) but there was a blue deep coffe shop in the town we were in. I asked Amex what kind of business it was they said something relocator. Very confusing. Hoprlefully the last time.
Jim ... as it happened, it wasn't just AMEX who didn't recognize Blue Deep ... Substack didn't, either. Toward the end of this experience, after spending a lot of time on the phone with AMEX ... I had the supervisor on the phone with me while I began a Chat with Substack on my desktop. I read the chat conversation to the AMEX supervisor ... and we'd confer what to ask next. It was an absolutely crazy situation! Alex hadn't yet responded to my email, at that point. I'd been dealing with the problem for almost two weeks and was on my fourth new card. I had learned, by this time, that Substack uses one credit card for all subscriptions. This is how I began to connect Alex to Deep Blue. However, as I pay for my subscription to Unreported Truths annually, my previous year's AMEX statement with the charge had "AlexBerenson" on it. Substack wanted me to send that image to them. But ... the company's Chat doesn't accept such images. We were at an impasse. From Substack Chat, I was connected, via email, up the ladder. The person with whom I was emailing suggested I use a different credit card. When Alex and I finally connected ... he suggested the same thing. As it happened, we had just turned back on a different credit card and the new card arrived about this time. So, I changed cards. Problem solved. (Surprisingly, that credit card company didn't question "Deep Blue." I say "surprisingly" because we had shut it off, in the first place, due to the fact that their security had truly became overkill! That's a whole 'nother story!)
Alex, thank you for the explanation of Blue Deep which came too late to prevent me from cancelling a credit card, thinking my card info had been stolen!
Same here W.R.T Blue Deep. I'm now on my 3RD credit-card because I FIGURED BLUE DEEP WAS A SCAM AND EACH TIME I CONTACTED AMEX THEY AUTOMATICALLY REPLACED THE CARD WITH A NEW CARD AND NUMBER!
Mebbe you should get into the merchandising game. Mugs,Hats, & shirts sell well and while this was for your founding members I’m sure other would freely purchase other stuff to support your work. Just sayin’. Pirate Wires has “limited drops” every now and again that have racked up charges from me.
Since you haven’t replied to any of my emails regarding double billing, I signed up for a yearly subscription and am still being charged monthly, I have no choice but to cancel my subscription.

Rush Limbaugh was a master at merchandising his brand
I’m on the fence…can I see the T-shirt? 😂
Just don’t go all Free Press with branded socks. They lost me with the socks…and the neocons too.
When do we get to see this mysterious T? If you’ve got something for the girls … sign me up.
I gotta ask- why would you name your company Blue Deep???

Would love to get that shirt. How to order?
How do I email you? I subscribed for the yearly plan, but just got an email stating I was charged the monthly fee.
