Amazing how the #metoo crowd vanished!

As far as Platner, Virginia just elected as it's Attorney General a man who wished death on the children of his political opponents. Why should Platner drop out? It's entirely within the realm of possibility that he will win if he runs.

But he'll be easier to beat than whoever would replace him, so I'm rooting for him to stay--a gangrenous thorn in the side of the Democrats. Hang in there, Graham. Sieg Heil!

Yup. Virginian here, sigh.

It is so hard that my choices are either to believe that election fraud is happening or that I really do live among people who vote this way. Northern Viginia is worse month by month.

100%. They took the soma.

Plattner wont drop out. He's going to stay in and all the 'other Dems' are going to be able to say we asked him to drop out but he didn't. They really don't care. And my guess is that he will even get DNC money, 'by mistake'. This is the Dem party. As long as you vote how they tell you in Congress you could be a mass murderer and they wouldn't care.

Brogan12's avatar

Well he clearly states the accusations are FALSE so why would he drop out unless FORCED out similar to what always happens in DEM circles. Just ask Bernie or Biden. IF he drops now with former reason then he admits GUILT

Dan T's avatar

He is a Dem. And they haven't forced him yet. I don't think they will. They want people like him. And they all say the accusations are false, even when they drop out.

Brogan12's avatar

Some are saying he will, but only because the $$$ or perks he gets for doing so will be hard to pass up. Time will tell...

We need a Supreme Court case that tries to claim that Marxism is a religion and that the Democrat Party is trying to establish it as a national religion in violation of the First Amendment. We need political parties that are about policy and not about power.

I agree with this post by Sensurround @ShamashAran on X. A long snippet from it - I think it accurately describes the current democratic voter:

------------------------

We have apparently reached a point where politics has become the emotional-support animal for basic human survival instincts. "Yes, this person committed one of the worst crimes imaginable against me, but we both liked the same tax policy. Awkward."

If your political identity has become so central that it can outweigh reporting your own rape, congratulations: you hve joined a cult. Cults are famous for making people subordinate reality, morality, and self-preservation to the interests of the group.

I hate cults. I hate them a lot.

They don't ask you to ignore facts all at once: they ask for one tiny compromise after another until one day you discover you're explaining away things that should be absolutely indefensible.

What's sad isnt just that people end up there. It's that many of them don't even realize it. They sincerely believe they're making a principled decision when, from the outside, everyone else is wondering why the obvious isn't obvious anymore.

At least religious cults usually promise enlightenment, salvation, eternal life, or an alien spaceship hiding behind a comet. Political cults dont even offer that. They ask you to sacrifice your judgment, your relationships, sometimes even your own well-being in exchange for cable-news talking points, in favor of a politician who will sell you out for a pack of gum.

That's a spectacularly bad trade.

At some point, "my team" has to lose to "the person who committed a violent felony against me." That's not supposed to be a close game.

Democrats started calling for Platner to quit the race once he started dropping in the polls. If they thought he would win, a rape charge would have made no difference. If they had any qualms about his character, they would have long ago asked him to exit the race.

Democrats exhibiting sociopathic behavior? "Come on Man"!

John T's avatar

What's even more amazing to me than Plattner's continued presence in the race is the fact that sexual misconduct is the apparent disqualifier rather than being a Nazi.

Granted that what's truly causing the call for him to withdraw is the likelihood that he will lose to Susan Collins, it's still amazing to me that sexually inappropriate behavior is more of a disqualifier than being a Nazi. I guess the Democrats are worried that coming down too hard on Nazis will call their anti-Semitic positions into question, but really? Granted, both are bad, and I'm hardly excusing Plattner's sexual misconduct, but supporting a regime that genocided 10 million people has got to be worse than being a date rapist. Yes, it's not much to choose from, but really?

Babylon Bee had a funny meme today with a photo of the Maine scum and caption saying "Rape Allegations Mar Reputation of Local Nazi" LOL

Funny how a woman already said he had done just about the same thing but it was ignored because she was a conservative. The woman from Virginia claimed sexual assault from this animal and not a damn thing happened. This guy is an animal and sometimes animals need to be put down.

Platner is everything dims accused Trump of being; yet fully support him while lecturing Republicans.

Bob Park's avatar

No one with any sense believed E. Jean Carroll's bizarre, undated and unsupported rape claim against Trump, with whom she had no relationship. Even the gullible New York jurors who found him guilty of sexual misconduct in a department store dressing room (?!), didn't buy her rape claim. Trump is no monk and may have been unfaithful but he's no Graham Platner.

JohnRobi's avatar

Even Carroll doesn’t believe her own lies. She can’t even pinpoint the year it happened. Decent Americans are outraged by this miscarriage of justice.

I don’t think he’s going anywhere. We already know he’s not Mr. Niceguy, so why would he do the right thing now?

As I write this response, I already know the outcome of Platner and his withdrawal. I’m sure nobody’s really surprised by that and he’s been well compensated in one way or another by the Democratic Party. This has nothing to do with his alleged sexual assaults, and the fact that he’s just not very good human being, and mostly due to the fact that he was losing in the polls so the Democrats do what the Democrats do quickly dump the candidate and install the next best option. Alex, your party is unrecognizable from 10 years ago and it all has to do with TDS. Sad really for the United States.

Mark Wallace's avatar

The Rapist With A Nazi Tattoo— sounds like a good title for a novel. Or how about this one: “We support Diversity, so let ‘s put a rapist in the United States Senate.” Wouldn’t that be a great campaign slogan?

ptmcdonald's avatar

TDS knows no limits. Platner is aware of this. My guess is that the people of Maine will send the Communist Nazi rapist to the Senate. I would not be surprised to find out that he sent d**k pictures to little girls on Kik and that this will not disqualify him either.

susannahmoody's avatar

please don’t soft-pedal Platner with the “sociopath” term, that is not actually an official diagnostic term…he is a repeat rapist…a full on Psychopath…we should call things what they actually are

He’s going to collect a salary from his campaign organization up until the time that it’s over candidates regularly, collect salaries and living expenses from their campaign organizations you failed to report that in a proper way. Campaign financing is an arcane science. That’s why organizations such as Emily’s list can operate with impunity. Elizabeth Warren is an Emily’s list candidate. I wonder how they feel about her support of Graham Platner, Mikey, Cheryl and Spam burger from Virginia and Letitia, James and Gretchen Whitmer are all Emilys list candidates. When Elizabeth Warren throws in with Graham Platner, she throws Emilys list behind him. Also that’s the way it works. Their membership picks up on the endorsement so the Emilys list people are apoplectic that a rapist is being supported by their organization indirectly
