My goal as the father to 4 was to provide for them and their mother a nice safe home so they experience the joy of an intact family and in the end to emancipated them so they can make their way in this world and be good productive citizens and in the end I was successful in both goals.
Ordering shortly. My father‘s dying words were that parenting me and loving his grandkids were the greatest gifts he ever could have imagined. I will be sharing this with my newly college graduated 22-year-old son as he embarks into the future and hopefully fatherhood one day.
Fathers are not all Archie Bunker bigots or Homer Simpson dummies. The most important thing is for fathers to be in the home and make a serious effort to help raise the kids. One of America's biggest problems is the absence of fathers, especially in minority homes. I'm looking forward to your defense of fatherhood.
I'll read it. My book club just had two books that totally ticked me off. One about women turning into dragons and every male character, father or not, is some oppressive monster. Set in the 50's which is how I imagine she's getting away with it, but it's getting old. The next one is similar so might skip both events. (Actually just preordered it--I'll read THAT instead of the next two book club disasters).

Being a father has been a great experience for me. My job was to be a good father and not my son’s best friend. There were some challenges along the way but what a great ride it has been.
I don’t have a kindle, but I have a wonderful dad and husband who is a great father to our two daughters. I will buy the hard copy as soon as it is available. Can’t wait to read it!
Will order like we did the first pamphlet. Then I will read it and order three copies for our three sons as "required reading". Doubt that will work since they are over 40 and on their own. Maybe "highly recommended reading and there will be a test". We have never stopped raising our kids although the methods have changed LOL. Kudos Alex for writing on such a needed subject in this pleasure happy, me-first society we live in. Your legacy is being well established on the road less traveled.
Nice song for Father's Day. Apparently David Gates wrote it about his recently passed father quite some time before he did it with "Bread" and it became a hit. I always assumed that it was for a lost girlfriend. This is one a musician friend of mine did for his late father, a famous blue grass/country musician who played with Flatt & Scruggs.
Feminism destroyed fatherhood by telling women to "fight the patriarchy". That progressed to men are expendable. Men were portrayed as bumbling idiots in literature and in film, basically worthless. Single motherhood was promoted, women could do it all by themselves. Reality was different. Without two parents, children did not have the stability and guidance a family provided. Told by society that they were not needed, fathers abdicated their responsibilities and dropped out of their kids' lives. To men raised without fathers, this way of life was the norm. They continued this cycle and became absent fathers to their kids.
You would think, rightly so, that a topic like fatherhood is essentially non-political and that the Mainstream Media would lighten up a bit and publicize Alex’s book on it. But no. From the mindless “Orange Man Bad” we go to “Berenson Man Bad”. So no publicity for him. What a bunch of lunatics we have to deal with who have captured the Mainstream Media.
