Russia threatens and censors tech companies; the US has nothing to say
How can we, when our White House is doing the same? Yet another way the anti-Covid “misinformation” campaign has backfired.
The Washington Post had a chilling story today on successful Russian efforts to intimidate technology and social media companies:
The piece goes on to explain that the censorship strategy seems to be “working,” at least for now. Buried in it, though, is this stunning admission:
Why would these companies expect that the United States would help them stand up to Russian censorship? They have begged American politicians to protect their rights to censor American journalists - and worked hand-in-glove with the White House on an enemies list.
When media and technology companies tolerate and even encourage this silky censorship threat from the Department of Homeland Security, they lose the moral high ground that protects them from Putin’s FSB thugs.
The choice is ever-clearer. Stand for free speech everywhere, or lose it everywhere.
Join me in the fight:
Interesting that you refer to Putin's FSB "thugs" but don't use similar derogatory language when referring to our own government. Seems like a double standard to me. The U.S. security/intelligence apparatus is just as thuggish as anything Putin has. Just ask Paul Manafort or anyone that is still in detention over January 6, 2021.
So Russia is censoring big tech? Kinda like they censor anyone who doesn’t buy the far left narrative on, well, everything? Like they censored Hunter Biden laptop stories, or the vaccine doesn’t prevent spread, or the 100% voting rate in WI nursing homes?
Hmmmmm....... so he’s acting like big tech. Am I supposed to be outraged?
Tucker, whom I don’t always agree with but at least respect, had a monologue Friday discussing what I do actually care about. And it’s not what Russia is censoring.
Even if you think you hate Tucker, it’s worth a listen.
