"Harris wasn't a bad candidate - despite what a lot of people on both left and right seem to think."

I beg to differ. Two words: "word salad." The woman was incapable of expressing herself with clarity, focus, and succinctness. She rambled. She parroted other people's words---when she could remember them. Otherwise, she didn't indicate that she was thinking for herself... unlike Trump. She WAS a bad candidate...

SeaElleAre's avatar

She was a horrible candidate. Tim Walz even worse. God help us with the clowns they put forward in 28

Some Dude in Ohio's avatar

If a word salad were a salad, then it would be a salad made from words. But words aren't tangible. So you can't really use them to make a salad. Certainly not a word salad. When you eat a real salad, then you won't be hungry anymore. But if you try to eat a word salad, you will still be hungry, and so a word salad isn't a real salad.

^^^^ I sometimes wonder if this is the kind of internal monologue going on 24/7 inside Kamala's brain.

Alan Davis (FlyoverAlinCT)'s avatar

At least she is unburdened of the burdensome overburden burdening her burdens.

ok then I think we're beginning to have some fun

Alan Davis (FlyoverAlinCT)'s avatar

Indeed! But still - poor Kamala thingy - such disappointment.

Unlike newly minted British PM Disraeli, she was “[un]able to climb to the top of the greasy pole”

KFH's avatar

well that was fun and thanks for trying to protect salads as they have certainly been maligned of late

Mark Bob's avatar

You are so right that salads have been at the intersection of oppression in recent years. Really, for generations of salads. We need a Ministry of Salads to set this straight.

Allie521's avatar

I agree.. Salads have been maligned since this country was founded in 1593.

susanb's avatar

It's a salad bar. That is why she didn't and won't ever get elected. (I hope) lol

Lia's avatar

Word salad, punctuated with bursts of hysterical laughter.

SeaElleAre's avatar

Maniacal crazed laughter.

Brogan12's avatar

The INSANE thing is she thought she was impressive and adroit in her expressions!

She’s terribly unqualified. Can you imagine her trying to negotiate with Putin, Jinping, Netanyahu, or even Zelenskyy?

Mark Bob's avatar

Yeah, I agree with that, Harley. If she wasn't already going to lose, the 60 Minutes interview made sure of it. It was scary how much editing required in their effort to make Harris sound coherent .... and how badly they failed even with all that editing.

Which makes me think that in the future, Progressives will deploy AI manufactured video for all or, or at least key parts, of the interviews of their candidates.

SRwilson's avatar

Yes. The candidates will be pretty faces (AOC), Pretty hair (Newsom) and they will depend on AI to run the country. Scary

Mark Bob's avatar

I think I might prefer that AI run the country to those two.

John T's avatar

Agreed. But of course, this only occurred when she deigned to actually talk! Most of the time she hid or let "spokespersons familiar with the matter" respond for her. She was a TERRIBLE candidate, and always has been.

carol's avatar

Not a bad candidate? Come on! Not a great attempt at sarcasm - but that’s the only explanation for your post today Alex.

Kurt's avatar

Not a bad candidate?

Be real!

She had zero press conferences. Zero! Zero because she could not speak coherently. Word salad.

DividedUpWorld's avatar

Really, what next, that moron DEI hire Biden press secretary, now shilling this despicable book was a great press secretary?…

reality speaks's avatar

Harris never won a election that wasn’t rigged in favor of the Democrats and she never will. She was appointed to her first political gig and she was Willie Browns kept girl she was given taxpayer paid gigs that paid her thousands of dollars to be on boards that she never attend she was given free vehicles etc. here in flyover country we have a name for Girls who get ahead in life with that kind of behavior.

KFH's avatar

um - just wondering - would that have anything to do with one's knees not being in contact with one another?

Yuri Bezmenov's avatar

The joy is gone! Kamala is still ranting about her downfall in her bunker: https://yuribezmenov.substack.com/p/downfall-kamala-2024-election

Charles Wemyss, Jr.'s avatar

A Culture Department, like the Dept of Education! The Soviet Union had a great Culture department, art that extolled the virtues of the Party! Never mind that the people starved! Ingrates!! That is what any and all Americans who did not vote for Kamala are, ingrates. Why we could have had a cultural renaissance, along the lines of the Star Inquisitions when art works flourished….hmmm something was grievously wrong with the whole process, so wrong that even people that didnt like Trump crossed over and voted for her. BTW, great Struggle Session video.

KFH's avatar

another way of describing a new ministry of truth?

Charles Wemyss, Jr.'s avatar

Seems like it..after all you can’t let the unwashed and unshaved thinking for themselves can you??

KFH's avatar

oh yeah we keep forgetting about all that joy

DividedUpWorld's avatar

In the end, another leftist sociopath who thinks that endlessly smiling and cackling like a jackass makes for presidential material. Maybe that word salad is because the mannequin pole up her a$$ goes into her throat, because the real controlling interests of Leftism evil doesn't want to be heard outright??!!

I am not your Other's avatar

Shows how far down the Dems have fallen if he srsly believes she wasn’t bad.

Sandra Slivka's avatar

What is the daylight between a candidate and her policies Alex? You mean she looked the part but???

Some Dude in Ohio's avatar

Correct, Kamala wasn't a bad candidate.

She was a terrible candidate. You sully the good name of "bad" by calling her such.

No, it's not because she's a woman, and it's not because she is black (or Indian, or whatever space on the intersectional bingo card she claims to occupy today). It's because she has a limited intellect, no personality, and no backbone. She would have been a disaster as POTUS.

KFH's avatar

oh but what about the joy?

I am not your Other's avatar

I shudder to think what would have happened on the world stage if she were potus. All she has is pole dancing, anger, and how can I screw the taxpayers today? That’s it. That’s her whole schtick.

Bryan S's avatar

You lost me at "she wasn't a bad candidate".

Ree T.'s avatar

Same!!!! She is literally the poster child for Bad Candidate.

Bryan S's avatar

I'm trying to determine if Alex was joking or day drinking? I know his stance on weed, so not likely that. Maybe someone should get a wellness visit to make sure he hasn't stroked out or maybe someone hijacked his account?

Brian's avatar

He also forgot to proof his post. Not his best but we shouldn't expect perfection. Alex needs grace as much as the rest of us!

Bryan S's avatar

No, I literally didn't really read past that line...... I tapped out.

Hate to keep disagreeing with you Alex, because I LOVE your work, but Kamala DID lose because of who she was. Like Hillary before her, and like the GOP’s Kari Lake, she is supremely unlikable, fraudulent and unrelatable. First rule of politics is to be likable and relatable. Kamala was and is a phony, which everybody saw through. THAT’S why she lost.

Sue Thompson's avatar

Kari Lake unlikeable? Well, we can agree to disagree.

Lug's avatar

Fair enough. Makes the world go ‘round.

I am not your Other's avatar

Agree Kari was unlikeable. Don’t think she was/is fraudulent?

Lug's avatar

I meant it as a personality trait, not in the legal sense.

I am John Galt's avatar

I’m sorry, what?? Not a bad candidate? The cackling alone made her imminently mockable. She might’ve been likable in other areas, but she couldn’t answer simple questions and whenever she deviated from the script in any way, she showed that she was incapable of independent thought. I think you’re off track here, Alex.

SeaElleAre's avatar

She struck me as a candidate that hit the bottle a little too hard and too often. She seemed drunk or stoned at public events. Either way, I’m thankful to Jesus we dodged that bullet.

KFH's avatar

I knew He'd show up in the conversation and so I thank Him too

Rick Reed's avatar

Yeah Alex. You shat the bed on this one. From the time she boned Willie Brown for a political appointment to the disaster of her career as a prosecutor to her cackling nonsensical run for the highest most important job in the world…she has been the absolute worst candidate of all times! Name me one other candidate who was as awful as Kamaltoe.

KFH's avatar

Well thank you Rick! Love your direct description which we all have cleverly danced around.

Rick Reed's avatar

In this dystopian world we live in, with the gaslighting by the msm, the demtards , rinos and the cabal and they still couldn’t drag this POS candidate across the finish line…it truly warms my heart. We really do have a chance to restore this most beautiful experiment called America. 🇺🇸

KFH's avatar

Thank you again Rick, this time for reminding me to have hope

Lynne Hallman's avatar

Hillary Clinton a detestable person. Far more loathsome than Kamala. Evil.

Rick Reed's avatar

💯 true. If we truly had any accountability in this world Ole Hillary would be dangling from the gallows.

Liz LaSorte's avatar

Kamala might have enough brains to memorize speeches, but clearly, she is devoid of analytical thinking and appears to be quite vapid. Like most DEI candidates, she is grossly unqualified and incompetent.

Kamala is the Face of DEI: https://lizlasorte.substack.com/p/this-is-the-face-of-dei?r=76q58

KFH's avatar

sorry she did not memorize that speech or any speech - she was clearly using ear buds and I wish someone would out her for that

I am not your Other's avatar

It’s like everybody forgot! It was obvious and there’s even a tape where it is stated fact. Just like the earrings she always wore.

KFH's avatar

thank you - that's what it looked like to me and I saw an article about those earrings but it's good to know someone else knows about this besides me!

Joshua Ramos Levine's avatar

On first principles--actual results--she was the single worst of the serious Democratic candidates from 2020. She was the first major candidate to drop out when she was only getting 1-2% of the primary votes.

When the dozen became a half-dozen, Biden was the single-worst of the remaining candidates. Three others more popular than him simultaneously dropped out to support him against Bloomberg (who was a phony and only got that far with his billions) and Sanders (who was far and away the most popular Democrat, and would have won the nomination in 2016 and 2020 if the fights had been fair).

Any support for Biden came from how many people hated Trump, not for actual like of Biden. But Harris herself had almost zero popular support, even before any of the issues you mentioned. She was put out there to lose, intentionally, because nobody liked her from the get-go. She only won in California because of local politics, where the favored Democrat will always win, by default, and she was favored for whatever unknown reasons back then.

John lakeside's avatar

independent of your view of Biden, he was a conniving , duplicitous, quick to feather his own nest , swampy type, Harris was simply an awful candidate. My thoughts on the election last past was can't we do better than this ?

KFH's avatar

I was terrorized by the Biden administration and believed we were headed over a cliff if the cackler had won - point of no return kind of fear

Kurt's avatar

Alex, if you want some real fun, try reading KJP’s horrible memoir. It makes no sense whatsoever, based on the reviews I’ve seen.

Ree T.'s avatar

Listen to the first 30 minutes or so of Megyn Kelly’s podcast from today. She starts out on fire about how much money a top advisor was paid by the Biden campaign and then she talks about an interview that KJP did with The New Yorker (I think it was the New Yorker). It’s HILARIOUS!!

TAS's avatar

The statement "not a bad candidate" had me laughing out loud. How would you know? She had her cbs interview edited before the election, was thrown softball questions on late night or any other media she was on, and was the queen of word salad that made no sense when she was asked important questions. Not sure where you're coming from Alex.....

Bonecrusher93's avatar

Alex, you are the pre-eminent source of news and info about Covid, but whenever you delve into politics your left leaning bias always shows. Not a bad candidate? Word salads, "Can't think of anything I'd change...", a Border Czar who had never been to the border in 2+ years (across which tens of thousands of illegals were pouring every day) and resented being asked about it ("I've never been to Europe either, what's your point?"), called her opponent a "threat to democracy" after she was literally installed as the candidate without receiving a single primary vote, avoided press conferences and long form interviews, became LESS popular the more people saw of her. And to top it all off, she lost the popular vote and every single swing state. Not a bad candidate compared to whom?

MSK's avatar

But she was born to a middle class family…..

American culture has become a wasteland. The golden age of Hollywood, of jazz, of the American songbook, of widely read great literature, of great poetry and painting, of the great mid century middlebrow mass entertainment, are long, long gone. This might be your worst take ever : )

For those interested in what real culture is, and what it used to be, here’s one of the best substacks in the world:

https://anthonyesolen.substack.com/

KFH's avatar

haven't looked at the substack yet but PLEEEZE do not consider any ministry of culture created by the cackler to have the potential to bring anything good to the situation

Adrian Gaty's avatar

Oh of course not, just gasoline to the fire. I was simply responding to Alex’s claim that our culture has never been stronger

And here’s the true story of how opera movies and Beethoven concertos were, within recent memory, the most popular entertainment around:
