This validates everything I’ve been suspecting about this outbreak. I don’t have the time or expertise to do the kind of research that I know I can rely on you to provide, which makes the subscription price a no brainer. Thank you.
When I was pregnant with my first child in 1979, I had a Rubella titer to check my immune status for measles. I was positive. I was 25 years old and had measles when I was around age four. I agree with Alex that there are a limited number of “sterilizing” vaccines that are beneficial, of which the MMR is one. But it should not be given before 18 months and does not need to be repeated. Measles is survivable, but having Rubella during pregnancy greatly increases the risk of birth defects. I saw this when working in public health in PA among the Amish.
Mumps. Cousin had the measles. He was in the bathroom with my aunt. Back then, no locks on the doors. I opened the door, only to have it slammed shut. Protection.
In my youth measles was a rite of passage along with mumps and chickenpox. I did have whooping cough during WW2 and became allergic to sulfa from the treatment. The only infection feared in those days was polio.
People caught things, got sick and some died. It was called life, no big deal.
If you are interested in reconsidering the historical track of polio and how it became so scary, read "The Moth in the Iron Lung: A Biography of Polio by Forrest Maready. It tracks the rise in polio disease and its connection to toxic pesticides and medicines.
Thanks. It's hard for me to read these days, advanced macular degeneration. It was a very big thing in the 40's and especially the early 1950's. The Army gave me two polio vaccines in 1957. But they also gave us a quick Asian flu shot in 57 that made most of us sick.
Every one of those pieces on Measles in the NYT or WSJ are ghost written by some PR firm representing Big Pharma. Not sure if the three girls that died in Texas last year are counted as measles deaths by the CDC but Dr Pierre Kory who wrote a book on the coordinated attacks on Ivermectin by the government and big pharma had access to the actual medical records for all of them and he clearly states that none of them died from measles. They did have measles early but all were in Recovery. They died from misdiagnosis by the hospitals who did not follow standard protocols for respiratory infections. He is on Substack and has extensively documented their cases and the mistakes made.
Yep, I remember that piece. I just commented on that as well. It was the ventilations that killed them — same ventilators practice used in Covid too. Yet, no one seems to remember that smh
Just did a search to find what statistically were the top 5 diseases causing childhood deaths for kids in the USA. Its 1. pediatric cancer, 2. respiratory infections if they have an underlying medical condition, 3. genetic and birth defects, 4. epilepsy and neurological disorders, and interestingly 5. drug overdoses and poisonings (which I guess you could argue is a disease of sorts). If you add in teens, you also get suicides and murders. But hands down, most youth deaths are either genetic in some way or is not a disease at all - its accidental or even purposeful. So it seems all the attention is going in the wrong direction if you are focusing on non-issues like measles or COVID. What youth need most are adults who are trained in water safety, locked up swimming pools, locked up poisons and medications, anger management, known criminals off the streets, and getting off drugs or just saying no to them in the first place. I personally want to see drownings, drug use, and the child/teen murder rate go down. Wish the rest of the media made that the priority.
The NYT is spreading propaganda, again. How many times does this have to happen before they are finally seen for what they are - a fish wrapper that occasionally swerves into the truth.
100%. And thank you for listing "climate change" as one of those hyped up to oblivion fearmongering exercises. What a waste of time. Some of my friends kids have been so indoctrinated on that issue that they claim they aren't going to have children based on that non-issue. Insane.
Slice of life from my era SO DIFFERENT from all this constant hyped up mental mush: I was born in 1947 which meant I grew up in the 50's when everybody got chicken pox, measles etc. My mother knew to give us cod live oil (vitamin A) on our way out the door to school (one spoon 4 kids and nobody got to rinse their mouth to get the taste out btw). If/when we got measles she let us sleep with the shades pulled til we were better - it was not only no biggie, we got extra attention which was kind of special as I recall - and most of the time we were outside every minute we could be getting vitamin D jumping rope, running around, riding our bikes, playing in the dirt, eating dirty ice off the back of the milk delivery truck etc etc and NOBODY WAS FAT. Snacks were not a thing back then and there was very little dessert available except something homemade on the weekend (like tapioca pudding or a pan of brownies) and sometimes there'd be a trip to get an ice cream cone or we'd get a chocolate covered for a nickel or dime in the summer from the ice cream truck. We weren't thinking about food all the time because we were busy playing outside or doing homework or practicing piano or reading a book. Then again, and just to prove the seeds of this mental mush were actually planted back when I was a kid - at school we did have drills to practice getting under our little tiny desks to protect ourselves from the nuclear bomb that was going to drop any day now - and at the movies there were government propaganda 'reels' showing people with their skin melting off after a nuclear bomb just to remind us to be scared so we wouldn't protest the silly desk drills at school....
Great description! My life exactly. Born in 1952. Got the cod liver oil along with measles, mumps, & chicken pox. Crawled under my little desk in 4th grade. Sack lunch of bologna sandwich and an orange. Fast food was unheard of. The thought of paying real money for a snack we could make ourselves seemed insane. True that money was short, but it was not that really. It was just that it seemed there were so many other things I wanted to buy like bicycle parts, instamatic camera, surfboard. And there may have been one kid in elementary school who was "husky." Kids in general were just skinny little things. Sometimes a Mom or Grandmother was "fat," but not like now, and in those cases it was always a "thyroid problem."
you totally nailed it here - right up to mentioning the older lady 'thyroid problem'
also sack lunches - bologna, P and J, egg salad, Deviled Ham (remember the little round can wrapped in white paper?), canned corned beef (in the squarish can with the key on top?) - not a lot here that would get by today's low fat food police!
I recently rediscovered the white paper wrapped deviled ham cans & have a stack of them now. I mix half a can into my scrambled eggs. Plus I've always had the square canned corned beef with the key. I steam the corn beef with sliced cabbage & eat it on top of rice, or not.
Okay the challenge is on - I'm going to try your recipes!
I used to chill the corned beef, sliced it thin, piled up a few slices on bread which I spread with a thin layer of French's yellow mustard and ate with a dill pickle spear. The deviled ham stirred up with a whisker of mayo makes a tasty spread on crackers... This is quite a hilarious culinary trip down memory lane that no cardiologist would approve of!
My mom would buy Spam. Slice it fairly thin and fry it in butter. In Hawaii they still LOVE Spam. It's everywhere, and in a multitude of new flavors. And it's on the menu in breakfast type restaurants there.
Thanks for those two recipes. Definitely will try those because I've gotten tired of the corned beef and cabbage. The chilled slices with mustard & dill sound good.
I remember some kind of meat "stuff" my mom would buy in a soft tube type container...you'd cut the top off and squeeze out the meat mix substance and make a sandwich or something with it. Whatever it was, I liked it. Wish I could remember what it was called.
Oh. My. Goodness. This could be me, though I was born in 1954. Thanks for the memories, and the affirmation of my own historical memory! All of us had to take cod liver oil when my youngest brother broke his arm for the second time and the doctor said we all needed to take Vitamin D. It was awful! If you read my story, you will see how Vitamin D through the skin cured my dad of tuberculosis. We played constantly in the sunshine, ran barefoot everywhere, and had only basic meals with very few snacks. And we had drills at school where we hid from the atomic bomb under our desks. We had a neighbor who built a bomb shelter. Regardless, could we please go back? Please?
something we could add here since you mentioned your dad's illness is we only went to the doctor if something was actually wrong our mother couldn't figure out on her own and there was no such thing as insurance or 'well baby visits' - and our family doctor (he knew us all from birth) was quite a diagnostician who could figure out from the color of the whites of your eyes or by poking around to see if something hurt what was wrong
Yep, my experience as well. I remember thinking those bomb drills were stupid and undoubtedly a waste of time if we actually did get bombed. My skepticism meter was operative by age 8, I think.
The measles scare is one as old as time, they did the same with the measles “death” last year — only to leave out the part that the child was on ventilation… the same ventilators that killed folks during pandemic: https://unorthodoxy.substack.com/p/medical-error-led-to-death-of-6-year
My man! I’m going to keep on pushing back on the measles vaccination rationale because that rationale can and is used for essentially all vaccines lol.
I actually just posted on statistics referencing the book “How to Lie with Statistics.” That book was written in 1954, 72 years ago, and the same bs data with vaccines now, was used then with polio. The data is all bs with no benefits: https://unorthodoxy.substack.com/p/a-1954-book-explains-how-they-lie
On the question of vaccination for measles… first your data is correct in your post. But, one thing about the vaccine is it is only about 90% effective meaning it is possible to get measles even if you have been vaccinated, as they are finding out with the number of unvaccinated immigrants coming in, getting sick and passing it on to others, even those vaccinated. If you catch and survive…very likely, you have lifetime immunity, 100% not 90%! The problem with measles is the high fever that can accompany it, but we also are able now to handle that.
So, first, let’s keep undocumented immigrants out, and then eliminate one of the vaccinations on the list!
Listened to an NPR story on the screw worm in Texas. Did not blame it on Trump cuts. Wondered why not. B/c it breeched the Darian Gap in the 2020's. Know what else breached the Gap? Immigrants.
Just doing chores at my parents' house, and topping the local news, a second confirmed case of measles in Erie County. Was it really that long ago that we used to have measles and pox parties when we were kids, just to get it over with?
Anyone who believes the media on anything deserves the anxiety they endure. The media abandoned the idea of holding truth to power long ago. It's all fear porn and clicks.
Open your eyes. Think. Discern. Have agency. Lead a productive life.
What is the rule about a witness lying? Once one lie is told and exposed, the jury can discount everything a witness said. How about applying that to the media? How about applying that to the NY Times?
I’m in my early 60s. We used to crawl under our school desks during a drill for a nuclear bomb. This crap has been going on for decades! Tell your kids to question everything. The best media blitz by the government was…”this is your brain, this is your brain on drugs….any questions?” That was the only sound advice given back in those days!
I remember reading MAD magazine as a kid during that time. They had a cartoon w/Alfred E. Neumann sitting in one of those school desk chairs instructing you what to do in case of a nuclear attack.
It read something like: “Lean over. Put your head under the desk. Kiss your ass goodbye!” A large target was drawn on his butt. At 8 years old I loved it.
As a survivor of measles and in remission for IDK 60 years or so I am fortunate. Mumps too.
This validates everything I’ve been suspecting about this outbreak. I don’t have the time or expertise to do the kind of research that I know I can rely on you to provide, which makes the subscription price a no brainer. Thank you.

You are correct but Rubella during pregnancy is the exception to the rule.

Exactly. What happened to our medical system? Money…..
My mom had cod liver oil too...yuck! Also a bottle of cola syrup for upset stomachs.
We all survived didnt we? Got some time off school as a bonus😀.
yes we did - and I edited my 'slice of life' description to add more - fun remembering
