Yes, it is too much to ask. The Left cannot win any argument on any issue based on logic, common sense, facts, science, common law, or the proven fundamentals of Western Culture, so free speech, honest debate, and polite and thoughtful discussion don’t work for them. They are reduced to censorship, name calling, doxxing, and threats. And when those don’t work and they perceive they are losing narrative control and mind share, they escalate to physical violence. Their consciences are seared. May history forget they were ever our countrymen.

Dark Thomas's avatar

i find this to be proven time and again, but i am never satisfied with the underlying motivations.

demons?

the existential need to be 'right' and prove your viewpoints are valid and just?

background financing by the rothchilds that *should* strip away autonomy and deliver a sort of neo-chattel slavery where 'useless eaters' to quote yuval norah harari are induced to a modern prison of screen-induced dopamine hits while munching on bugs?

demons?

could it be that many were fighting a war for years that 'their side' wasn't truly fighting, so many were essentially abandoned in a virtual no man's land?

could it be demons driving this? perhaps the left is right about everything? lol, sorry, of course that's one possibility we can safely eliminate.

i wish i knew truly, but in the absence of definitive proof - i am going to go way out on a limb and assume demons have more than a solid hold on the left.

AG Fairfield's avatar

See my comment above on the reason that demons should be taken literally in this case.

The best comment I've seen on this subject, hands down.

It’s time the big question is asked about the education system. The left/marxists play the long game , they have infiltrated the schools with their teachers and the institutions where teacher’s get qualified long ago. These are swamps bigger than Washington this is where the real rot starts. Calling it for what it is the young are being brainwashed/indoctrinated.

Nancy Devlin's avatar

Completely agree. Look at how many educators were praising this murder! Too many liberals running our public education system. I was sent to a catholic high school in the 1980’s just 5 miles from Boston. When I asked my mom why couldn’t I go to the public high school (I was in public schools up until then), she literally said “because they are too god-damned liberal”. And that was in the 1980’s!!!! 4 decades of “Maude” and friends, getting progressively more whacky.

Hewi's avatar

The rot started in the 1960s, think of the Vietnam war demonstrations, free love and drugs. The breakdown of society as we knew it. Today we are reaping the benefits of that which without a circuit breaker will probably end up in civil war.

Louise C's avatar

Have you seen the demographics of the protests lately? Name an issue. Anti Trump, Anti Israel, Anti Elon, Anti ICE, Anti National Guard. More than half of the protesters at these events are in their 60s and 70s. They are the leftovers from the 1960s when the breakdown of society started.

Hewi, imagine what would happen if law enforcement at the local, state, and federal level said: “If you want a civil war between people on the left and people on the right, we will stand back and let y’all fight it out or shoot it out, so long as you do not go beyond boundaries that we have prescribed.” Let’s see - paper and talk versus steel and lead. Any doubts about how that would turn out? 😉

Dark Thomas's avatar

within 5 days the right would defeat the left and accidentally conquer canada

Brogan12's avatar

Exactly...this has been brewing since at least the 80's. On steroids since like 2012 with the Marxist ideology. The SWAMP (DEMs and RINOs) have allowed it thru the decades...they had no problem giving TAXPAYER $$$ to enable it all

FCinNH's avatar

Oh, please. Taking Canada would start this whole mess over again. Alberta and Saskatchewan maybe, but do not allow the other provinces in (well, maybe some of the others, but definitely not Quebec, Ontario, or BC.)

SpeakerFTD's avatar

I'm a firm believer we should trade Minnesota for Alberta. Maybe we ask them to throw in a Northwest Territory to be named later.

Karon Mitchell's avatar

So glad that you brought up this angle. It’s really the root problem. This is all well described with firsthand knowledge in David Horowitz’s “Radical Son” (may he rest in peace).

Alex, thanks as always for your cogent thoughts.

The Kirk assassination -- and the aftermath, with any number of left-leaning media outlets and individuals crowing about it -- have driven home a message that I didn't want to acknowledge, or maybe was naively hoping not to acknowledge: the Left wants us dead. There is no reasoning or rational debate or "marketplace of ideas" with an increasing number of people on that side of the aisle. All they know is: Conservative = Hitler = Should Be Dead.

Like you, I don't *want* the violence to escalate. But to paraphrase something quite unpopular that was written on this date 24 years ago, the Left has to understand that when they push people around, eventually some people will push back.

Alistair Penbroke's avatar

From now on, every time they make this claim they should be hit with the fact that the Nazis were a left wing party. The opening quote by Hitler here is unambiguous:

https://penbroke.substack.com/p/the-nazis-were-a-far-left-party

"My party at the time was 90% left-wing people. I only needed people who would brawl. It was the same everywhere: people who didn't want to hit others, but only carried out projects that they then whispered to you in secret, were of no use. I needed people who stood by what had to be done.

— Hitler, Nov 30th 1941"

Getting out the true facts about the true fascists would be a practical way to arrest the mental slide of at least a few radicals.

Bernadette's avatar

I'm wondering if suits of defamation should be thrown out every time someone gets called "literally Hitler" or "Nazi." Make them prove it in court.

Brian's avatar

I've been struggling with this issue too.

Every complaint I've seen regarding Charlie Kirk can be categorized under "Things he said that the left doesn't like."

That's all I've seen. And I have to wonder: where is the line for them? Where do they decide that death is warranted?

I've said some things that would offend them. Do they want me dead?

Anthony J . Barton's avatar

Tonto AKA Elizabeth Warren is still blaming Trump for the Charlie Kirk assassination. The Marxist Islamists are out to destroy America 🇺🇸. Look at what they have done to the Middle East. The American people had better wake up before it's too late. Obama is another enemy of America 🇺🇸.

Probably nit-picking, but I would have included the shooting of Steve Scalise, (NYT June 14, 2017 — A lone gunman who was said to be distraught over President Trump's election opened fire on members of the Republican congressional baseball team).

RichT's avatar

I was going to nitpick that Alex skipped Hinckley shooting Reagan in ‘81, though the intent there was more insanity with the Jodie Foster obsession.

The baseball shooting is more relevant

Carrie Antonopoulos's avatar

Alex acknowledged Reagan in the footnotes! Said it was a borderline case because of Hinkley‘s mental disturbances. Possibly political but also possibly just a total madman.

Agree on Scalise!

Democrats and other leftists promptly dumped into an Orwellian memory hole reports of the 06/14/2017 shooting of Republican Steve Scalise. That dumping was aided in large part by the Legacy Media, a/k/a the Goebbels Media, which subscribes in lockstep to the Goebbels precept that “A lie told once remains a lie. A lie told a thousand times becomes the truth.”

Yes - that is their modus operandi on everything- that is where you still get "Maryland Dad," Russia Collusion, White Supremacist "good people" Charlottesville, and even the nonsense Biden kept pushing about World War ONE "suckers and losers." Run with it and repeat. There are countless more examples.

Thx Alex. Trump will attend Charlie’s funeral. Will George W Bush? Obama and Clinton should go to make a unified statement to heal America. I’ll be watching. My guess is they will not. Then we’ll know they have no interest in doing the right thing. Their true colors will be exposed for all to see. I hope I’m wrong.

Sorry. It’s over.

1. They won’t speak out against it because deep down they approve.

2. Even if they speak out against it, we will not believe them because we know they are lying.

3. Even if they speak out against it and we suspend our disbelief, it won’t matter.

Lines have been crossed that can never be uncrossed. Moderates who have been radicalized will never be moderate again.

And the already radicalized have already gone to the mattresses.

The left has no idea what they have wrought. For starters, you can find a few of them whining about getting fired from their jobs today. Funny that most of the can’t figure out why.

The efforts to out these scum and make them pay will continue unabated. Job losses, license revocations, career destruction, reputation destruction, all of that is on the table. And that’s just for starters.

Sorry. It’s over.

They hated him for what he believed in. Not for what he said. They hated him for who he was. They hated him because he was undoing the 20 years of the programming our children have suffered at their hands.

And they killed him because he was effective and he was winning.

They are about to find out that karma can be a big ole bitch.

FCinNH's avatar

The firing is interesting because it means that this murder has "radicalized" the employers to refuse to put up with this kind of depravity in their employees, even if those opinions were made outside work. And I actually agree. I wouldn't want to have working for me someone whose hate was so deep that they could celebrate an assassination, because that's just the tip of the iceberg of their evil intentions and murderous intolerance towards others. Their hate goes far deeper than just Charlie Kirk, and especially when it comes to working with children, they should all be fired. Posting in public (and X, TikTok, Instagram, and Facebook are effectively public) is to my mind sufficient reason to can them.

Louise C's avatar

The thought of those unhinged people teaching kids, scares the hell out of me.

Just calling it the shootings of Minnesota state lawmakers hides some important context. The shootings followed a vote in the Minnesota state legislature where one of the victims, Melissa Hortman, sided with Republicans on cutting healthcare access to undocumented immigrants, a heated issue for Democrats. The shooter has also been previously employed by Tim Walz, Minnesota governor and Democrat candidate for vice president. Hortman was in tears following the vote, and many interpreted that to be fear of retribution from her own side. The timing of the shooting was too much of a coincidence, despite the media trying to emphasize the shooter's supposed right-wing views.

Dark Thomas's avatar

not to mention that the shooter literally said he was contracted by tim walz to kill a sitting senator so he could get the seat in a letter to the fbi!

Carrie Antonopoulos's avatar

Thank you for adding, this is incredibly important context.

It's too much to ask. The assassination of Charlie Kirk is exactly what the Left wanted and needed. It is exactly what they would like to do to everyone on the right, even those with no power. They cannot brook ANY dissent, not from influential people, not from powerful people, not from the regular masses. That is the essence, the soul, of their ideology. Without the complete suppression of dissent, their ideology doesn't work. I would like to add, this is just my opinion, others may feel differently.

Louise C's avatar

John Kerry said the quiet part out loud. "John Kerry called the First Amendment a "major block" to combating misinformation and fighting climate change." Of course the left would be the arbiters of misinformation.

mike peterman's avatar

There is no current way to stop the Democrat violence they use through words and actions. Since they do not want to procreate, our respite will take about 20 years.

Until then, keep aware at all times.

Carrie Antonopoulos's avatar

We will definitely out reproduce them. But we have to stop them from indoctrinating our offspring! And that’s the teachers, the mental health professionals, academia, Hollywood, and the press. It’s very much still an uphill battle, even with the lopsided reproduction. Or else the cycle continues.

The 'tone down the rhetoric' horse left the barn years ago. The Left (Democrats) have inculcated the progressive, white race-hating ideology in the institutions for many years. This cannot be changed by 'having productive dialogue and ideating around systemic structural issues'.

I'm Christian and called to pray for the Holy Spirit's intercession in their hearts and for them to know our Savior. But at the same time, I'm not called to be slaughtered by these demons, but rather to fight evil in this temporal world.

So, what's the next step? There are next steps, but shrinking away from the fight is not one of them. 'Suicidal empathy' of the feminized Right is not the path forward with either. We need a 'wartime consigliere', a leader willing to organize the fight. And it is a fight.

ALLYSONRT's avatar

AOc, Radhida Talib, Ilan Omar, and the rest of the crew of anti Amercan anti Semitic members of congress must be kicked out. Their agenda is to destroy America. They accuse the right of this destruction. However, their speech is Takiyya. In Islam it means you say what you need to in order to destroy the people. It is part of the theocracy of Islam. It is also how the Democrats use their freedoms to destroy it. Taking the life of Charlie Kirk was their belwether. Just like Charlie Hebdo. Free speech is an enemy to our enemies. Wake up America, speak up, teach peace and tolerance and , learning to pray is also recommended. God bless the Kirks and God bless America.

FCinNH's avatar

But understand that although we preach tolerance, we cannot tolerate the intolerant. They must be expelled from our society, or incarcerated or eliminated more permanently. They will try to claim that we must tolerate them (because we preach tolerance), but we cannot do so without ensuring our own destruction.

Was just a new build up of narrative today as the day wore on coming from the legacy media. The new crafted narrative is the shooter is a conservative republican even though all evidence says the opposite. For those of you who believe the legacy media will ever change you are in denial. They just double and triple down believeing the sheep-useful idiots will stay blind to truth and continue voting BLUE

In certain corners of X, no matter what happens, Israel did it.

AG Fairfield's avatar

See the recent Jimmy Dore podcast. Here is why that is being said:

Kirk questioned the official Oct 7th narrative and wondered in an interview if there had been a “stand down” order. Full disclosure — I also think this question is completely valid.

Also, it was reported that Kirk rejected a large offer of money from Bibi N for Turning Point, breaking with a past record of accepting Israeli money.

Reportedly, Ben Shapero made highly critical, though veiled, reference to Kirk to the affect that not everyone in “the big tent” was failing in line with bombing Quatar by Israel. ( I have not personally seen a video clip of this, but would like to) Some would question if Ben wants to step in replacing Kirk as the spokesperson to, presumably, conservative youth.

A lot of the Dore commentary was based on anonymously sourced report by Grey [something?] allegeluy that Kirk was causing trouble in Trump’s Admin by seeming questioning Israeli influence.

An honest accounting must acknowledge it uses inflammatory language to describe their opponents???? At least they aren’t using bullets or Molotov cocktails. I’d now like an honest accounting that the left has been far more violent. For a decade the left MSM has done nothing but call Trump-Hitler and his voter facists. The right has sat back and taken it or as you say used inflammatory language. Sticks as stones they used to say. The Dems want to take away guns and scream about them when someone shoots up someplace but they have no issue using them when it suits their narrative. Hypocrites. Hate the cops? Use a Molotov cocktail. Hate Elon Musk? Firebomb his dealerships or his charging stations. That’s ok though right? The second amendment is to keep our govt from overreach and self defense. It seems one side adheres to that more than the other. Every political assassination or attempt since Reagan has been from the left if anyone is keeping score.

Some Dude in Ohio's avatar

Since Ford, no? The two attempts on his life in 1975? But I'm picking nits here.

James Schwartz's avatar

I was just going by my memory. I was a kid when Ford was president so it didn’t register but I rest my case.

Right - just pointing out that your position is even stronger than originally thought.

There was also the Puerto Rican separatists shooting up the House of Representatives in 1954 and the bombing of the Senate chamber during the Vietnam era, both perpetrated by the left, though not the Democrats as such. Clinton did decide to pardon the Puerto Rican guys during his term which was frankly a treasonous act, as they were avowed enemies of the US.

The only terrorist that I can think of that might be accounted as on the right was Timothy McVeigh. He was anti-government altogether and that's not generally a rightist position, as most people on the right believe in government though they prefer smaller government, not larger as is the preference of those on the left. I don't think anyone on the right would have claimed McVeigh as their own before the bombing, much less afterwards. Nihilists or anarchists, maybe, but not conservatives.

James Schwartz's avatar

The Timothy McVeigh situation is crazy. The FBI was deeply involved with it. Evidence has been destroyed and they even killed the wrong guy which is still in court to this day by the family of the wrong guy they killed. Tucker had a great interview with the woman author who has been reporting on this since it happened. Our Govt is beyond corrupt and while this shooting seems cut and dry and I sure hope that it is but this kid got radical and fast.

“And I certainly don’t want the right to escalate [the violence]!?

Uhhhh, didn’t you ever see “How the Grinch Stole Christmas”? Predictably, the Right was holding spontaneous prayer vigils across the country and the world.

As an ex-rugby guy, it is especially moving that New Zealanders performed a Haka in Charlie’s honor.

This outpouring is the Right’s version of “Je Suis Charlie”. A statement of forthright courage and Devine belief. The opposite of the invertebrate “World Leaders” who didn’t have the courage to carry the cartoon that got Charl and the rest Redrummed.

If the right organized any George Floyd style riots, I missed them. But then again, I have kept up my dues for “The Protocols of the Elders of Conservatism”.
