In the Antelope Valley and surrounding environs of California, solar panel and wind turbine fields are replacing the natural environment. Nothing has been more detrimental to nature than green energy policies. We now get dust storms because removing the plant life lets the top soil fly. There is a huge reduction in birds because the turbines were placed in migration pathways. Places where people traveled to see the superbloom of wildflowers, will now find rows of black solar panels. Those solar panels are made in China using coal for energy, shipped to the US on fuel burning ships, and once installed start decreasing their output almost immediately and only continues to decline over time... then you have to replace the panels and create a pile of solar panel waste that is not easy to recycle. How is that energy efficient or good for the environment? Every year we get solar panel sales people harassing us, even going door to door begging us to turn our homes and yards into solar fields in order to meet California's ridiculous energy policies with meager promises... and you would not believe how many solar panels they told us to install to meet their requirements because solar panels don't produce enough energy to really meet the needs of our property. Those people push the solar panels because they are getting bucks from the government to do the work - if there was no government interference, then China would not be growing rich in solar because few would switch to it. California soon will start a test pilot where certain neighborhoods are going to have their natural gas turned off. Imagine your home has a gas dryer, gas oven, gas heater, gas water heater, gas fireplace, etc.... well if you live in those areas of California, all that is being turned off. It will be a huge cost to owners to replace all that and will send many families back to burning wood fires to stay warm, but where we are in California, they outlawed putting in new fireplaces that burn wood. Its like the government is going out of their way to make sure we freeze to death in winter and burn to death in summer so we will be glad for the meager output of a solar panel because its better than nothing. They also closed one of our last oil refineries in California and its illegal to import it, to artificially raise the cost of gas and push people onto alternatives. Natural gas was the cheapest, most efficient energy source in California, now everyone is being pushed onto expensive sources making California even less affordable for ordinary people all while destroying nature in the name of saving it. (If it matters to you, I am a biologist who cares deeply about the environment.)
